You obviously haven't watched much Super 15 then, Ellis aside, the others you mention are some of the classiest players in New Zealand at the moment. You forgot to mention Dan Carter - rubbish as well I suppose?

If I remember right Guildford and Maitland had a bit of a stinker in last season's final against the Reds. They may not be in the Tommy Bowe type of player but they have pace to burn. Fruean still has a bit to learn but looks very promising.

Bulls: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Morne Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies (capt), 7 Jaques Potgieter, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Juandre Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling.

Replacements: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 CJ Stander, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis Fouche, 22 JJ Engelbrecht.

That's the lineup for Bulls' first game. They have lost so many experienced players: Steenkamp, Matfield, Bakkies, du Preez all gone.

It was almost unfair for O'Connor to have to play with that Force backline every week. He was miles ahead of anybody else there.

By the way, next Aussie 9 is Justin Tuner from the Force. He missed all of last season with a knee injury, but he has got a lightening pass and is very quick around the park. He made a few appearances in 2010.

All I could find of him on youtube was his pass to Hill for a winning drop goal against the Stormers. It was his debut as far as I remember. Right at the end of this clip

They've replaced them relatively well I think. Kruger is an excellent second row. Hougaard at 9 isn't the worst in the world, and Sadie played well in hsi few games for the Stormers - he's probably better than Pretorious who would have been there. Himself and Olivier will made a decent partnership.

They should have held on to van den Heever if that was a possibility, he's better than Ndungane anyway.

Not happy at all but he was out of contract and looking at the Bulls centres and the Stormers pairings (3 current Boks) he knew he would get much more game time in Pretoria.

He will be a class act imho, shame the Stormers couldn't hang on to him.

I presume the omission of Dan Carter and Richie McCaw from Crusaders team is due to their slow comeback from injury/repairs rather than a move to Munster. :D

I think the bigger question is which Whitelock gets to sit in the front on the way to the game! George, Sam, Luke, or Adam?

Seemingly their Granddad was an All Black and their dad was a Junior All Black.

I see the WP Institute website is "being updated" and the U21 Squad hasn't been announced yet. It would be a slightly odd move, although I know there was a swap deal going on with Saracens Academy, unless it was part of that.

Great to see Nalaga back playing rugby, he was some operator for Clermont and could find his feet at Western Force again. The Whitelock brothers is a great story, pretty special to have 4 brothers in one professional team! Good little video on them here:

Will be interesting to see how the Brumbies go - totally rebuilt after last years disaster. Interesting how things can change so quickly from the supposed dream team (Elsom, Giteau, Mortlock, George Smith and Stephen Moore) of 2/3 years ago to the current position

Interesting to see how Eben Etzebeth gets on in the second for the stormers he's only 20yrs old 6"7 and 117kg's He was really impressive in the junior world championships last year.

Gonna be able to see almost all Friday games. What team should I follow? Who plays most of their games on a Friday that are much craic?

I wan't a back dominated team with a useless scrum so that I can experience the highs and lows of rugby please and thanks.

For me Crusaders are the masters of running ball off the set piece. Expect to see dummy lines, keeping the ball alive, and very complex moves coming off the line from a scrum.

Then there's teams like the Reds, who rely on pulling the ball in and out to create space and often cause havoc in the loose.

They are generally the two teams to watch.. but this year with so many transfers you'll see a lot of other teams competing for top spot (not being dominated by the usual top 4)... Expect to see a dark horse rising from one of the SA teams.

..but, think it's gotta be one of the NZ teams this year. Either Crusaders, Blues or Chiefs. Blues have signed Nonu and Weepu... I think it could add some structure to their game, but I've heard from a lot of Blues fans that they just hate what Lam is doing and he seems to be a conservative type. Chiefs have signed SBW, who is a bit like Marmite it seems. I think the rejigging will do them well and we'll see one of these teams lift the cup imo.

    WOW!

Waratahs shot themselves in the foot. They turned the ball over with a minute to go and rather than keep if tight the scrumhalf somehow kicks it back to the reds!

Terrible defense too but a serious score

Interesting to see how O'Connor and Cipriani link up for the Rebels. Once Kurtley is back, and they move Gerrard to 13, they'll have a decent backline.

Some hopelessy average players in that 22 though.

The Force will get a hiding, and the squad is weak enough as it is without the ongoing hassle of signing a fly half.

On a positive note, got the new home shirt for my birthday yesterday and it's awesome.

It's a real pity that JOC went to Melbourne. Both places need all the help they can get with attracting folks to rugby but Perth have really supported the Force. There is currently no NRL team there so plenty of interest in a them you'd imagine after te AFL of course.

You'd like to think that a place which developed such a talent could have held onto him and further built with himself and Pocock. Is his younger brother still there?

Theres very little support for the Force or Union at all I've found when there. I remember when Tuqiri got banned it barely got a mention in the Western Australian.

They have the Dockers and Eagles to focus on and after that they have the WACA.

Moving out of the Subi will improve the atmosphere but they have to keep the fanbase coming now. They really need a bit of success to draw in the fanbase (ie Leinster/Munster). But given union has such a miniscule following it might take even more than that.

It was always going to be tough to support the Rebels while continuing to develop the Force. But I think the Rebels will be easier to get off the ground and then they can turn their attention back west.

It's even worse in Melbourne though. Most don't even know there's two rugby codes there if at all Rugby. It's all about the AFL. Perth is similar but wouldn't be quite as packed up as Melbourne is. Everytime I see them on tv they seem to get decent crowds seeing as they're hockied regularly enough. In fact their attendances last year were only a small bit behind the first year Rebels in a smaller city with a diabolical team.

With no NRL team there they really have a good shot at expanding the game there.
