Does anyone know of a young Irish lad who went down to join the Stormers academy?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Be interesting to see how Ruaidhri Murphy gets on for the Brumbies

I presume the omission of Dan Carter and Richie McCaw from Crusaders team is due to their slow comeback from injury/repairs rather than a move to Munster. :D

I think the bigger question is which Whitelock gets to sit in the front on the way to the game! George, Sam, Luke, or Adam?

Seemingly their Granddad was an All Black and their dad was a Junior All Black.

Wasn't aware of anyone, is this a recent thing?
I see the WP Institute website is "being updated" and the U21 Squad hasn't been announced yet. It would be a slightly odd move, although I know there was a swap deal going on with Saracens Academy, unless it was part of that.

Great to see Nalaga back playing rugby, he was some operator for Clermont and could find his feet at Western Force again. The Whitelock brothers is a great story, pretty special to have 4 brothers in one professional team! Good little video on them here:

Will be interesting to see how the Brumbies go - totally rebuilt after last years disaster. Interesting how things can change so quickly from the supposed dream team (Elsom, Giteau, Mortlock, George Smith and Stephen Moore) of 2/3 years ago to the current position

Interesting to see how Eben Etzebeth gets on in the second for the stormers he's only 20yrs old 6"7 and 117kg's He was really impressive in the junior world championships last year.

Gonna be able to see almost all Friday games. What team should I follow? Who plays most of their games on a Friday that are much craic?

I wan't a back dominated team with a useless scrum so that I can experience the highs and lows of rugby please and thanks.

For me Crusaders are the masters of running ball off the set piece. Expect to see dummy lines, keeping the ball alive, and very complex moves coming off the line from a scrum.

Then there's teams like the Reds, who rely on pulling the ball in and out to create space and often cause havoc in the loose.

They are generally the two teams to watch.. but this year with so many transfers you'll see a lot of other teams competing for top spot (not being dominated by the usual top 4)... Expect to see a dark horse rising from one of the SA teams.

..but, think it's gotta be one of the NZ teams this year. Either Crusaders, Blues or Chiefs. Blues have signed Nonu and Weepu... I think it could add some structure to their game, but I've heard from a lot of Blues fans that they just hate what Lam is doing and he seems to be a conservative type. Chiefs have signed SBW, who is a bit like Marmite it seems. I think the rejigging will do them well and we'll see one of these teams lift the cup imo.

Does anyone know of a young Irish lad who went down to join the Stormers academy?
Possibly Peter Du Toit, scrumhalf, former Leinster subacademy and 7 Ireland U20s caps. South African family. He signed for a south african Curie Cup teams academy after the JRWC last season. I forget which team it was

Mike Harris has the smallest frame of any pro rugby player I think I've ever seen, he makes ROG look built!

Pretty poor game so far too

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

What a finish by The Reds!

    WOW!

Waratahs shot themselves in the foot. They turned the ball over with a minute to go and rather than keep if tight the scrumhalf somehow kicks it back to the reds!

Terrible defense too but a serious score
