I Have a 3gs that was jailbroken with blackrain on 3.1.2, and then i got it unlocked by apple so i updated to 3.1.3 and used spirit to jailbreak. now i have updated to ios 4 and want to get cydia back or even just be able to put ipa's on it?

Can Anyone Help?

If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.
If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.0

so if you used spirit you're out of luck (temporarily)

OK, I have checked my boot rom and it is the old boot rom. i tried using pwangetool and its gives error 1607 in itunes when i try to update. so i presume i cant jailbreak yet!

got it sorted. i had my shsh's on file for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 so i downgraded to 3.1.2 used redsn0w and pwanged to 4.0. All is good!!!! :-)

Hi guys. Have a problem with a friends 8gb US 3GS. The phone was on 3.1.3 fw but had been jailbroken a few weeks ago but not unlocked. I said that I would have a look at it and see about unlocking it. While trying to install blacksn0w through Cydia, the phone froze, and is now stuck in a boot loop and restarts every 5 mins or so without getting past the Apple logo.

I have been trying to research what I can do to even get it back to its 3.1.3 jailbroken form, but am having trouble understanding all the options out there. Of course the ultimate aim is to unlock it, but I would hate to have undone the previous jailbreak.

I'm going to upgrade to IOS4.Currently on 3.0, JB'd and unlocked.Bootrom and week no. both ok.So!Do i use the official update in ITunes and then re-JB, or just go into a straight JB as per iClarified (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=10188)?

I'm gonna ask a sillier question than cwrenn!

I'm currently running a 3g on firmware 3.0 that I jailbroke and sim unlocked. I'm looking to upgrade the firmware, as some apps need more than 3.0 to run.
I don't mind if I go up to 4.0, but if it's possible whilst maintaining jailbreak and unlocked status, I'll go to 4.0.
Problem is, I can't remember what I used to jailbreak/unlock the last time, so I'm stumped as to what to do from now!:o
What info do I need to get from the phone in order to know what to do next?

I've tried googling, but...
1. I got bamboozled with all the info and "click here" options
2. Only have 'net access here in work, and a lot of sites giving info are blocked!:mad:

Hi all. Just hoping someone has an idea how to fix this. Upgraded my 3g (previously on 3.1.2 and jb with blackrain) to iOS4 and jb with Pwnage Tool 4.1, then unlocked with ultrasnow. So far so good.......until I try and use safari on 3g (works fine on wifi). It seems my data settings have changed/gone. There's no option in settings like on 3.1.2 to put them in manually. Anybody any ideas how I can fix? - I'm on meteor if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.
EDIT Got it sorted, key is to jailbreak with redsnow 5-3, problem seems to occur with 5-4.

I have a 3gs. Its been updated to iOS4. I have not previoulsy jb'd it. Is it possible to jb. I have looked at some sites but all instructions are Mac based. Any help much appreciated. Cheers

Hi guys, looking for a bit of help. Got my 3gs today and im looking to jailbreak unlock, I did not update to 4.0 as I cant find an unlock for it so im running 3.1.3 and firmware 05.12.01.

Can anyone point me in the right diesction to JB unlock? Ive never done it before and i dont want to brick a new phone by doing it wrong.

Go to www.spiritjb.com to get the jailbreak and then search in cydia for ultrasn0w for your unlock.

You probably don't have your shsh blobs for 3.1.3 so don't upgrade to 4.0 yet as there is no way back for you.

Get your shsh blobs for 4.0 saved now, search for a program called tinyumbrella and get them saved.

You can jailbreak IOS 4.0 the 3G and some 3GS with old boot rom only, which is only a small number of early 3GS phones.

Hi Guys, any experts out there?

I have a 3.1.2 3GS that has stopped working (stuck on logo screen)

tried sleep/wake function many times already.

Tried downloading the old firmware, and changing the host files.
iTunes system error tells me that it is "not eligible"

I don't want to go upgrading to 4.0 - this will brick my phone.

Please help - am willing to pay!

My query is - if I want to sell this phone now and do a factory reset to get rid of all my settings will I lose the network unlock or is that permanent?

Ie if the guy who buys it goes and registers it on itunes will they try to lock it again?

yeah ya sure can but remember to keep the original sim with it as you will need it for breaking and unlockin

i got mine from the states on AT&T

yeah it will,, if he does that,, but just tell him not to restore or update it through itunes unless he is confident that he can unlock it again himself

I'm trying to jailbreak it at the mo but I can't ...using blackra1n but I get stuck on the "Waiting for reboot screen" ..it just stays black.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post in, but I'm just confused with this whole jailbreaking on an unlocked phone business. I got O2 to unlock my iPhone a few months ago so I could move to Vodafone. I upgraded to iOS4 last week, but if I decide to jailbreak it will my phone go back to being locked and render my Vodafone sim useless, or will the unlock remain unaffected?

Well I was but that's when I put os 4 on it I've since went back
to 3.1.2 on that fone and it was fine
I reckon that fine I was usin was fubar

I got it sorted last night, it seems there is some problem if you use the pwnage tool in expert mode to set up the restore file. So set up a new restore file using the pwnage tool in simple mode and restored the phone. Cydia works grand now no problems.

Hi all,

About to jailbreak a 3GS.

3.1.3 is on at the moment - am going to jailbreak it and then move onto iOS4 (seemingly, u can't jailbreak iOS4 without jailbreaking 3.1.3 first)

I have sn0wbreeze downloaded to jailbreak 3.1.3 .....I get a message saying:

"sn0wbreeze has detected that this device cannot be jailbroken with sn0wbreeze, unless it is already jailbroken. If your 3GS has an updated bootrom, then you cannot use sn0wbreeze."

Where do I go from here!?

if you have the new bootrom your better off holding out for a new jailbreak for ios4. i'd stick to 3.1.3 at the moment, you can jailbreak 3.1.3 using spirit.

I've jailbroken and unlocked my Iphone 3GS running 3.1.3 and on baseband 05.12.01 using Spirit to jailbreak, and Ultrasnow 0.93 to unlock. Was locked to Vodafone, now I can use any.

lads can any one point me in the right direction for a good guide...
i've managed to jailbreak all other versions 2g. 3gs and never had a problem.

I started to look into jailbreaking os4 for the 3gs last nite and am completely dumbfounded by it?

I'm currently on 3.12. firmware is 05/.11.07 and the model is mc133b (saw this pop up in a few utube vids.

Any help is appriciated!

Anyone successfully downgrade an iPod Touch from iOS4 to 3.1.2 / 3.1.3?

My girlfriend got an iPod Touch (3G) in the US - it's about 2 weeks old. Am unsure what firmware was on it when she bought it (presumably 3.1.3) but she upgraded to 4.0.

But I want to jailbreak it for her and I've tried downgrading to 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 using iTunes 9.1 (on Mac) and 9.2 (on Windows - this is the iTunes she and machine she used to upgrade). I don't want to upgrade to 9.2 as it'll screw up my Spirit JB for my iPad.

I carried out the restore by adding '74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com' to the hosts file (on both machines), putting the iPod into DFU Mode and selecting the downloaded firmware.

Both methods failed with different errors: Mac said something like device isn't eligible for the requested build, and PC is giving me an error 3194.

Very frustrating!

Sounds like you don't have the blobs stored already, so you are stuck at version 4 until the jailbreak is released.

good news for iphone 4 jailbreak and unlock. musclenerd the most vocal of all dev team members tweeted that a spirit type jailbreak should be released as soon as apple release the update.

I've a 2g from the states,its wrecking my head at the min trying to jailbreak/unlock followed the walk throughs on iclarified but I keep getting stuck at the restore point,it's telling me the firmware is not compatible so I don't even get to launching redsn0w any help please?
