Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thanks u for replying anyway.

Yep, abuse because you didn't get the reply you want.
I don't really know much about this but it would strike me that the Citizens Information Bureau would be your best port of call.
Go in and explain everything to them and bring them all the info you have.
    Good luck :)

When you appeal send in more payslips and any other info you have to back up the appeal. Also a letter outlining the reasons you are appealing.
They count overtime, commission and bonuses as income so that might be a reason you are over the limit.

Rang today , said they're working on the 13th Feb, told me mine (9thFeb) would be another two weeks , rang again an hour later was told there is a back log from the 24th Feb, so I'll be waiting another three weeks , wound up. I could go on an all out rant ... but I won't !

I would imagine the phones are quite busy and maybe we should not be ringing them twice a day, Maybe you should call them again in a few days . The 24th Feb is on a Friday and the 13th Feb is on a Monday, the claims start on a thursday
I know the claims are on a Thursday that's what's so frustrating about the info I was given

Its done different for a first time claim, the first payment can issue any day and is then paid every thursday thereafter.
They are processing claims that came into the dept. on the 16/2/12.

    New claims are on February.

    Renewals are on March.

    That's why there's 2 different dates.

Backlogs are huge so it's a long wait either way unfortunately 😥

  • Registered Users Posts: 24 PixieDixie

I have a new claim that was in the middle to end of March and I spoke to them 3 weeks ago and told them it was a new claim and they said they were on the start of march and that it would be 4weeks minimum that I would be waiting to hear. . . . . not holding my breath though after reading some of the other posts! frustrated.com

Its paid a week in advance.
eg. todays payment 12/7/12 pays you up to 18/7/12.

    Hi all
Applied for FIS in March and got a letter from them the end of June requiring me to come off my husbands Jobseekers , I did this and last Friday I received a payment from FIS in my bank account , problem is the payment from fis and my husbands jobseekers combined is less than he was getting on jobseekers originally , Ive phoned them but I need to wait to receive a letter to see who the deciding officer was , I work full time and by our calculations we should have been getting around 40 euro extra per week but cant understand how our money is now less than when we applied
Can this be right ? I thought that FIS increased your income , not decreased it

Wow I had no idea the waiting times were so long. I just got my acknowledgement letter last week! It will be a tough few months :(

I phoned yesterday and was told new claims are on 14 or 16 of March and that my application for the 26th of March could take 3-4 weeks.

We were refused last year because we would get more with me as a dependant on my partners claim. They sent us a letter saying this and when we called the number the person went through her calculations. In my situation, i went part time half way through the year but they disregarded my payslips and instead took an average of the previous 42 weeks earrnings as my weekly earnings. So i have to apply again this year :(

Hi there I was waiting since 31/1. Was with social welfare inspector for about 8 weeks. She called out to my place of work to clarify a few matters. My husband was self employed and had his own business so she asked for last yrs accounts. Sent them on and explained he has not worked since Nov 2011 ( he is a carpenter) etc.
We received a reply last week to say we were refused as were over the earnings. Mine was fine as I work 20 hrs but they took all the directors wages from my husbands accounts of last year and not his only, not only that they had grossed it.

I have appealed this as the figures are incorrect and have sent p60's.

Can anybody clarify why they take my dh wages from last yr as it is this yr we have no wages hence we applied for fis, also I thought they worked off net wage, they did on my wage calculation. And lastly do you have to wait long to get an answer to your appeal? 6 months now and struggling.

    Thank you

If he hasnt worked since Nov 11 has he deregisterd ?If he has then send in the letter from revenue with your appeal. The appeals office are extremly slow.
As for the figures taken that would have been given to FIS by the inspector in their report maybe contact the inspector regarding the figues and aslo have any info you think will help your case, might stop it going for a full appeal.

Hi I sent my application in June was just wondering how long does it take to get aletter to say they have received it

  • Registered Users Posts: 24 PixieDixie

Hi, I rang on Monday. Mine is a new application dated the 26th March and they told me they are on mid march and that mine will be about another 2 weeks.
i don't know where all these other dates about them being on end of March and April for new claims are coming from. the guy I spoke to in FIS was adament that they were only mid march and haven't touched any new claims further than that date.
After reading some of the comments up here about getting claims that were dated end March etc I was sure my claim would be processed any day and was checking my bank constantly and then was constantly disappointed. Better off just ringing (and holding!) to find out exactly the date.

Pixie Dixie my letter is dated the 26th of March too, I think people are responding with renewals dates and causing confusion (and disappointment) as I am like you checking my account daily. I rang at the start of last week and was told 3-4 weeks so that would be consistent with what you were told. I have also counted the weeks and for us 20 weeks is the week of August 13th which is 2 weeks time.

does anyone know what date they are on??? is the minimum waiting time 20 weeks????
