I reckon she'll give every one of those fighters a problem if she's matched against them and could easily take that belt when the official division launches,
The first official fights in the division were last July. There's been 4 so far I think.
Some fighters opted to not enter the TUF house, and to start the division instead. The first champ will be from the series, but the first challanger might not be.

But the right win post finale could literally out anyone in contention in these early days.

Angela Magana rang into the MMA hour says she wants to fight Heather and a rematch with Ais but referred to her as Albert Daly.

Whoever her next opponent is clearly isn't one of them but said she robbed an item of clothing from whoever it is and is undergoing some ritual thingy to help defeat her :eek::eek:

Ariel dealt with her brilliantly to be fair calling her out and baffled by her agenda as to why she was ringing in.

She keeps posting naked pics of herself as well although id FAR prefer to see Ais bate the face off her while she's trapped against the fence. I can see her being a female Junie Browning from TUF 8.

Haven't heard it yet, but based on that description she's facing one of the rd1 defeats on the ass end of the undercard. Heather and Angela are likely on the main card along with the other SF's.

Heater v Ais would be a match I'd like to see.
Thug Rose/Jo-Jo/Tecia/Carla not so much (initially)

Just went onto Magana's twitter. She is absolutely delusional..

Anybody else watching? Really hoping Tecia does it..

I think the final will be Jo-Jo and Carla

Great fight between Jojo and Rose, fight of the season so far. I hope Rose takes the belt. She's a beast, constantly attacking off her back too. Markos will be a tough fight for her though.

    Aisling Daly vs. Alex Chambers
    Felice Herrig vs. Lisa Ellis

    Aisling Daly vs. Alex Chambers

    FFS
The only match up I didn't want to see coming out of this season.

Yeah they seemed to get along. I've think Ais has said some nice stuff about her but I don't think its much of a challenge for her tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,386 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

Thought Tecia won the first round of her bout with Carla, again consistency with takedowns being stuffed a problem should've went another round IMO. Tecia only has herself to blame though again choosing to remain very standoffish when Carla was potentially there for the taking.

Ya Rose and Jojo would like to see fight again fight of the sason I'd say too.
maybe on the show she pulls off quick subs leading to the Ronda comparisons? Shocks Jojo if she get past Chambers too maybe?

Hmmm quoting myself  Great job for Rose to pull off the sub but still not seeing the Ronda comparisons....Spoofin' outta from Dana all but confirmed.
    Aisling Daly vs. Alex Chambers

Ah balls thats not that interesting was hopin for one of those scrapettes

All in all looks like I'll see this season through but all the hype for the next prob won't bring me back unless it involves Irelands own most likely. Was miles better than last season but thats not saying much, didn't see the last season through after Pendred was done so was I pretty much.

That was some fight between JoJo and Rose. Rose was so good off her back, a really dangerous and active guard. That kimura was beautiful. Fight of the season.

 who? was she in the UF?

I would have liked Ais to get one of the bully clique but she can only fight whats in front of her.

I didn't expect Jo to get beat in last episode but way to go Rose, that girl is a grinder! She wasn't for letting anyone or anything stop her winning that fight.

Not she wasn't on the show. She's a japanese fighter, with about 20 fights. She was one of the fighters who signed with the UFC directly.

Worth a read and sounds like the preview scene with Ais collapsed may have been due to heat stroke

Just got around to seeing last weeks episode. Tecia fight should have definitely gone to the 3rd. That amount of stuffed takedowns shoukd score more than the couple of successful ones. I was roaring at tecia to counter the td, knee choke anything. Can't stand that 'hug someone till you win on points. Sickened for jojo but fair play to rose. She tried to win on her feet and constantly went for the sub on the ground, proper fighting.

Looking forward to the finale card Friday.

A third might have been interesting. But Tecia lost both rounds, clearly.
Stuffing a TD means nothing if you don't do anything else. As in, if somebody shoots 5 times, is only succeeds once, if the other person has done literally nothing else, they are losing the fight.

Feel sorry for Randa, good season nothing great obviously but I've lasted this long so yeah

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,386 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

On that TUF talk poll... who will win the belt currently Carla 13% Rose 87% is it that clear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,602 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    Rose knows her subs!
Her striking is supposed to be her strength also.

I like Randa, she looks decent, and I'd like to see her fight ezparza down the line. But wtf was she thinking not defending the kimura, espectially after Rose tapped Jojo with it last time.

Esparza looks solid in all her matches, but she didn't live up to her billign as #1 for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,904 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Very disappointed with penne, she was a diffetent fighter than what she was against Ais. Maybe it was fatigue but she is a lot better than that. Rose is gonna maul esparza.

Randa is a great fighter as well, will be rooting for her, ais and Jojo tomorrow night.

So, will this be the thread for the fight card tomorrow night. Weigh ins at midnight.

Jessica is a decent fighter but im still not sure if Straw weight is beyond her as regards competing for the title (even if she bet Ais who is essentially a flyweight) Jury's out.

Like Randa too but see flat out got caught maybe one of those that could go differently in the future

Makes sense to be the thread I see theres already a thread for the Stipe/Dos Santos card.

Will watch weigh ins thanks for the heads up

Ya me neither she just seemed to slide into the final without impressing at all (her sub coming against last ranked) hopefully that pattern doesn't follow on in the finale

Ya Randa didn't look great either straight for the bottle then of course when 116 was called

My stream went mad when ais came on, so did she weigh 118? That will have to have an effect on her tomorrow night. Is pound an a half acceptible as in 116.5 and then half pound for title fight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,941 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

The Esparza vs Penne fight was terrible, was more like an amateur boxing match than MMA. I fancy thug rose to win tomorrow.

No she'll have to get 116 or under. Such a shame, missing weight on your UFC debut won't exactly endear you to your new bosses. And by the look of her, she probably won't even try to cut the rest which will make her paycheck 20% lighter (or is it 40%?).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,904 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Ah ****e man, pity there isn't a wimmins fly weight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,397 ✭✭✭xtal191

Ais looked terrible and she wont be cutting any more weight, loses 20% of her fight purse.

I think he thought Rose wouldbn't get it.
Rose had the figure 4 grip for 10 seconds or more before the sub. Randa left the hand free and tried to pass. Maybe she just under estimated her grappling.
She looked terrible, has an hour to lose the 2 pounds.

    No.
1lb for non-title fights, 0lbs for title fights.

The doctor would let her cut any more (according to Alex's coach) and Alex accepted the fight as is.

That fight was about 10 weeks ago... You can't say she was overweight then as she probably hadn't even began cutting.

If you have to cut any more than a few kg's to get to fight weight, then you're overweight.

To be clear, I consider fight weight to be your weight 7 days out. Essentially close to the weight you'll be in the cage.

On that TUF talk poll... who will win the belt currently Carla 13% Rose 87% is it that clear?

Maybe the general public have not liked Carla's role in the bullying/bitching that went on during the series? UFC posted on twitter to retweet who you want to win and Carla currently has 137 compared to a whooping 863 for Rose so virtually identical figures.

At her odds I see it as too much of a risk considering what everyone has said and also Ais missing weight. She didn't look to steady on her feet during the weigh ins either :( Hopefully none of this matters and Ais gets a win tonight. Weigh in video below

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with my statement or not..

Just out of curiosity, how would you define a few kg's? A friend of mine recently cut 7kg a week out from his fight. What would be your take on that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,326 ✭✭✭MartyMcFly84

There is a difference between loosing weight(body fat and a little muscle) and weight cutting.

Through diet and training you should get into a good position to limit the amount you need to cut.

The cutting process is a fine line, where you shed water weight. It has a positive effect up to a point allowing you to quickly up your weight after weigh ins, but if rely on the cut to loose to much weight you drain your body to a point where its very hard to bounce back and perform close your ability.

The amount you can loose depends on the person , sex, your size and body comp. The bigger you are generally the more weight you can cut.

So big difference your mate dropping 7kg in a week and a small girl trying to cut the same weight.

Basically, imo every fighter has their "fight weight", which is the weight they can cut from a week out. This obviously varies depending on the fighter and the weight limit.
But beyond that, your overweight. Be it 5lbs or 25lbs.

As for your friend, if he made the cut, then it was within range. 7kg is a normal weight cut, size depending.

What I find strange is she must have made weight twice in the tuf house. A place where we saw her struggle. And now with a full proper training camp, back home where shes more comfortable she can't. Thinking about it they didn't show anyone struggling to make weight apart from the Justine girl. Usually theres a few close calls the seasons I've watched at least. Did they actually fight at 115 on the show?

Well yes, but during the filming of TUF she was based in Vegas for the duration and probably didn't need to cut much knowing the type of competition. I think(Im sure someone with a better understanding can confirm or deny) that flying, temp.difference, etc between Dublin & Vegas a week(or 2 maybe) before a fight could throw the body into disarray making the weight cut more difficult
