I went on a hockey trip earlier in the year, that's ballsy to go without tickets :) We probably ended up paying through the nose for our tickets in advance ...

Had tickets for the Flames and Predators games but we were unsure of my wife's sisters work schedule when booking the tickets so we didn't get them at the time. Didn't want to leave my wife on her own our last night there and she'd had her fill of sports after being to both Hawks games and the Bears- Dolphins game at that stage. Me and my brother in law tried on the day but weren't willing to pay stupid money. Remember when I first started going to see the Hawks you could roll up on the night and get $15 tickets, same seats are just over 100 now, that's the price of success I guess.

What games did you take in on your trip?

Well we went to Montreal first and saw
Habs v Bruins (Mrs is a huge bruins fan)
Habs v Ottawa (Habs came from 3 goals down with 5 minutes to go, the place went mental!)
    Then on to Ottawa
    Sens v Avs
Sens v Rangers (seats just 1 row the home pen box)
    Finally Toronto
    Leafs v Bolts
    Leafs v Habs
    Leafs v Blues
And we managed a Marleys game as well (it was a weekday - middle of the day match - the rodgers arena full of school kids!)

and got back home broke :p

Wow, that's an impressive trip to say the least. Would love to catch a game at the Bell Centre, my brother in law went to the Hawks- Habs game last season and said it was one of his best sporting experience.

Fairly active for an Irish forum.

Sabres fan here. It can be painful sometimes. :P

Watching Sabres vs Sharks right now. They're holding up well, 0-0 after 2nd period.

i just meant this is the only active thread on the hockey forum.... this time zone is a KILLER, I dread west coast road games!
I had game center when I was living in america it was great! thinking of getting it for here, as its actually cheaper than america. and the handyness of watching on iphone ipad...

Good idea. I make do with HNIC online every Saturday. Getting a Chromecast next week for it. It's the sole reason I'm getting the Chromecast.

Would love game centre but can't really justify it. College work must be done.

Nice win for the Sabres. :)

    HNIC on the TV.

What a time to be alive.

1-1 Rangers @ Habs at the end of the first. Game hasn't really got going yet. Ranger PP is still a bit of a mess. The Habs goal was SH on our PP. AV is putting out 1 D and 4 forwards on the PP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭mitchmeister

Flyers defense is pretty bad... too many come behind games for my liking....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Phaneuf needs to be benched for the next game. He's a disgrace to the shirt. Relying on Kessel to defend the second goal was criminal.

The difference to the team when Reimer is in nets is amazing. Though throwing him in when you're 4-0 down is pointless.

Kadri needs to be traded before his value is decimated. He is a luxury we can't afford.

Two defeats in a row now for the hawks. Never got their heads right after the Blues second ”goal”. Big rebound performance needed against the Sens tonight. Game starts at 11 so might stay up fora change.

I've an online subscription, not game centrer but can't mention it here. If you need details pm me.

I have some ways of watching the games as well, if you're interested Bonnie. :)

Watching Hawks vs Sens tonight. Puck drop in about 20 minutes.

Hawks 2 - 1 Sens with 5 minutes left in 2nd. Senators are getting a lot of penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

By all means let me know.

2 TDs in NO between Packers and Saints in the first 5min. 7-7

So that's gonna distract me anyway for a while.

    1-0 to SJS anyway

    1-0 to SJS anyway

Make that 2-0 at the end of the first.

Ask them and I'm sure they'll put it on.

Pifko (Slovak bar) on the Quays is good for it as is Czech Inn in Temple Bar.

Oh I love the Czech Inn ... it's been years since I have been there - do they still serve Paulaner on draft?

You can practically get Paulaner on draught anywhere in Dublin these days.
    But they have it too

Get on the Zlaty Bazant bandwagon. Class.

Leafs set a new franchise record last night allowing only 10 shots on goal by the Sabres.

It was weird, my internet stopped working right as the Leafs scored the 2nd goal. Woke up this morning and it was back on, but the result wasn't very pleasant... 0-4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Phaneuf on ice for 16:20 with 3 trips to the box. Anyone see it?

I wouldn't read too much into this, The Sabres are pretty pretty poor this year.

We'll beat Columbus on Friday and lose to the Hawks on Saturday and so it continues.

They weren't really any better last season.

Will watch Wings vs Caps tonight.

    That was never inferred. :)

I'm adept at seeing mediocrity. :)

Red Wings @ Caps is a very cagey affair so far. 0-0 after the first. Very few shots too.

    Ended up 4-2

Really looking forward to Kings @ Pens tonight. Should be a top game. I think the Pens might sneak it given that they have home ice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

Sabres vs Bruins puck drop in a minute.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

Anyone else watching the Kings @ Pens? Pens 2-0 up at the end of the 1st. Good game.

End of the 2nd. Still 2-0. Tight game. Crosby still has to register his first SOG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

Sabres and Bruins going into overtime. 2-2 after 3rd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Fat Phil scores for the Leafs against the Jackets.

Phaneuf is doing my nut in. He needs to be traded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

What a game and result at the ACC. Haven't seen us play like that in a long time.

The new line changes are clicking. Winnik has been immense and Kadri was wonderful tonight.

Even our glorious captain had a great game.

Watched bits of this to break the boredom of the Rangers game and I thought it was a fantastic game. Reimer was outstanding.

Gutted about the game but agree Reimer was excrement. Really worried about the Hawks lack of offence this season. Kane, Towes and Sharp need to start performing.

Ha, was on my phone when I typed that. Should really look over posts before I put them up. He was EXCELLENT.

Anyway another bad night for the Hawks. Things just not happening for them so far. Getting shut out by the Jets back up is pretty bad and in fairness he was never really troubled all night.

On home ice too. The Jets played the night before that and shutout the Rangers in NY.

The Sabres x Red Wings game was great. No penalty for high stick seconds before a goal and waved off OT goal. 2nd shootout win for the Sabres this season.

It seems strange to me that Sabres have 7 points, because they have 2 SO wins, 1 regulation win and 1 OT loss - that should be 8 points.

    7 is correct, 2+2+2+1=7

A regulation win (before OT) is 3 points, so it should've been 3+2+2+1=8

Its two points for a win either in regulation or overtime. You get three points for regulation win in the European leagues.

Woops, after watching a bit of KHL, I forgot it's not the same point system in NHL. :o

I would like to see that in the NHL; an extra point for a regulation win. I think it would force teams to push for the winning goal, as opposed to holding off for OT.

There were murmurings towards the end of last season about it.

Instead it seems that the ire is being reserved for OT and making it 4v4 and then 3v3 in an effort to get rid of the SO.

Personally I think that getting rid of the SO totally would be best and have ties after a 4v4 OT.

3 Points for a win and 2 for an OT win and 1 point for an OT Tie would do it.
