Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Thanks ladies, feeling so much better this evening. Will be home tmrw after a scan to check baby is ok.
Can't help but worry with all the drugs I've been taking over the last few days, but it wasn't really an option so I'll just have to concentrate on getting better.

Hope you are all doing well!

  • Registered Users Posts: 746 ✭✭✭ladypip

Emer-b: I had gallstone removal surgery while I was pregnant on my son, It was an awful time all the worry and the stress was awful i totally know what its like. Hopefully the scan will put your worries at ease and you can continue on with the rest of the pregnancy worry free.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 483 ✭✭emer_b

Thanks pip, lots of people have been telling me pregnancy surgery stories with happy outcomes. I'm sure I'll feel much better after the scan tomorrow.

I think im out girls :(

I started bleeding again lastnight so i went to the a&e in the Rotunda, waited for 4 hours to be seen in agony. The doctor who scanned me found the sac which measured at 8 weeks but no sign of baby. She booked me an appointment for the epu for tomorrow and said there is a chance she could be wrong.

We are just uttery devastated, i feel like this whole pregnancy has been one big cruel joke. I feel Hollow just so so sad.

I am so sorry, I miscarried back in August, my 4th miscarriage and i totally sympathise with you. If you get the chance to rest try and take it easy.

So sorry ladypip. Sounds like there is a little bit of hope but I'm sure it's almost impossible to feel optimistic tonight.
8 weeks pregnancy sounds like such a short time but it's all you think about for those 8 weeks, it's all consuming. No wonder you feel devastated.
My heart goes out to you both.

    Hi Everyone

    So i have some news

I was taken into the rotunda yesterday night, I got a call yesterday afternoon to say they were really unhappy with mu hcg levels they were super high and i had to be admitted for the night for tests because something wasnt adding up. I went in at six and i was told the Doctor who had scanned me in the EPU unit on Monday wanted me back and it couldnt wait until my schedued appointment on Wednesday.

At 10pm the doctor came to my bed and explained that not ony were the hcg levels high for someone who is 11 wks they were extremley high for someone having a miscarriage. She told me that i had been on her mind all day and the fact that i hadnt lost any tissue or any clots had her very worried that i coud have a molar pregnancy which is extremely dangerous or something else, she wanted to get me upto the utrasound dept straight away so up we went at 10pm she had to open it and it was compeatly deserted.

She started scanning me on a screen i coudnt see, stopped almost straight away and said to me im so sorry for what we told you and i have some really great news you are actually still pregnant and it looks like its a healthy little baby in there. I was absolutey overwhelmed and overcome so it took her awhile to calm me down and expain what had happened. Im overweight and my womb is tilted and im also two weeks further aong than they thought i was so when they were scanning me internally in the A&E dept they were looking in the wrong place altogether and unbeleiveably were scanning my bladder and not my womb at all. When i presented to her in the EPU she was to confirm the diagnosis they had given so she looked in the same place using an internal scan seen the same thing they seen and assumed that she was looking at my womb. This time she used an external scan. She must have apologised about a thousand times to me for all the stress and unessecery upset they have caused me. She said that she had a feeing about me and thats why she never offered me tabets or a d&c to clear my womb..thank god for her instinct!!!!!

All night the midwives were coming into me all night congratulating me and telling me its never happened in their careers and the same for the doctor. She said I will be used as a teaching case and aso a tale of caution.

So here i am the mother of a miracle. Im actually 13 wks im due on the 31st of july. We are both still in shock. But so so happy and thankful it was caught before it was too late

Wow Lady Pip - what stunning and wonderful news!

To say you've been on a rollercoaster is obviously an understatement! But onwards and upwards - just thrilling news!

Look after yourself and give the hub a good long hug - sometimes great things DO happen :D

Jesus that's awful and brilliant at the same time! Thankfully they realised their mistake before they did a D&C etc!

It's so scary that something like that could happen!

    Massive congrats!

I'd check that out if I were you as I got my appt in the post a few weeks ago, I think at the 12 wk appt they do a scan and blood tests so it's a pretty important one. I'm going public by the way.

Yeah definitely check that out tomorrow, I'm on baby no. 4 (God willing all goes well), and I'm sure I got the 12wk letter at around 8 wks this time, so something seems wrong there. Did you get the basic letter saying you're entitled to maternity / infant care and the schedule of visits you're advised to get, eg. 12 wks, 16 wks, etc.?

  • Registered Users Posts: 539 ✭✭✭morebabies

Welcome Shortstuff, and hopefully we all make it safely through to August. Staticdoor71 that is very annoying about your GP not sending the letter. Let me know how you get on when you get appt. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Looking like I ate too many pies at the moment. Not an attractive look but please God it'll be worth it in the end.

Hope your scan goes well today morebabies, I find myself looking at the pics the whole tiime!

Ladypip, your dead right to stay put with us (hopefully you wont go much more than a day over:)), I was so happy to hear all turnedout well with your babs, you must have been so scared. Fingers crossed for the rest of your pregnancy.

Staticdoor - I feel your pain waiting on the appointment letter, only got mine on Friday and isnt for another 3weeks, couldnt wait that long so had a private one.

We told Family and a few friends over the weekend and work today! I have a hen at the weekend so planning to have everyone told before hand. I'm hoping the tiredness & sickness will have passed by then!

How are all the Due Aug 14 ladies?

I'm really annoyed, have booked in for scan and first appointment with the consultant in Cork for next Thursday. We are currently living and working in Europe Mon-Fri but I'll be having the baby in Cork and moving back in with my parents (!) anyway we have both booked a day off work next Thursday and booked the flights to go home for the scan. The scan will take place when I'm 11w + 5 d which is great as it's almost 12 weeks so I can safely call it a ''12 week scan'' and use it as a milestone after which I'll tell my Dad and siblings and his parents etc. Anyway the consultant's secretary just rang me there and asked is it ok to change to Monday? I'm like...No! Apart from the time off work/flights issue, that wíll be closer to 11 weeks than 12 and I really want the scan to be a confirmation that we've gotten to the 12 week stage and all is good and we're out of the miscarriage danger zone.

I explained that we live abroad so she's going to see what she can do. Fingers crossed it gets sorted. I've been counting down to this for so long, for it to be changed last minute would really throw me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭shortstuff!

Thats terrible Lucuma, definately hold your ground, they shouldnt have made an appointment that they cant honour. Is there another consultant that they can fit you in with or are you going private? Its so nice seeing babs and being able to tell people without worrying:)

Alls well here, havn't got sick since Monday so hoping that lovely phase is over...Have a hen party in newcastle over the weekend, dont know how Im going to cope with the tiredness!! Must tell the rest of the group the news before they all think Im soon sort of dry sh*te....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,356 ✭✭✭Lucuma

Going private, although still not too late to change, no money has changed hands yet. Let's hope they find a way to sort it out. Unf with our flight times as well the appointment actually needs to take place at 12:00 as it was supposed to, it would be fine if it takes place earlier but not if it takes place later, we might miss our flight back :-(

My nausea went last weekend as well when I got to 10 weeks. I'm like a new woman this week :-) But still having terrible night's sleep :-( However last week I was having terrible night's sleep and nausea so this is better!

With public, you dont get a specific time for your appointment, think they tell everyone 2pm and you then its just a case of queing so maybe your better off private if you'll be tight with flights! I'd have thought with the money your spending they would be more accomodating to you.

Glad to hear sickness has passed, all good hear too, touch wood:) Im waking a couple times at night either needing the loo or a drink but manage to get back to sleep ok!

Thats really awful Lucuma!!, Public is deffo not the way to go if you need to make it back for flights though. Also do i know you from RC? I have the same name on there :)

You do indeed I'm on RC under a different name! I had spotted you were on both these forums as well :)

Had my 12 week scan during the week, everything looking good. I'm delighted. Was a little nervous after the surgery but my mind is at ease now. Have started telling friends.
Can't believe some hospitals make you wait longer than 12weeks for the scan, it feels like forever waiting until then!
I'm lucky not to have any symptoms other than tiredness at the moment. Checking back on my last pregnancy my daily killer heartburn had already started by now. Making the most of it by eating lots of chocolate while I still can!
Hope the sickness is easing off for some of you.
