It's a pity that we have to be subjected to delays at all, in a world where the sequel to a MCU movie series can have its release date fixed years out, why on earth can't a videogame have some similar veracity in their release schedule.
Answering my own question, it's probably because they underestimate the length of time a game takes to make, again and again, not to mention ironing bugs out and wholesale restarting games when the work so far turns out to be sh1te.

Feck it anyway, I need this game in my life!
How on earth can it be taking so long?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,164 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That could be part of its problem, it may not be taking long enough. Miyamoto was looking for a developer to make it at E3 2014. So Platinum have had at most a year and a half to make this. Games these days very often take 3 years at least to make. What was shown back then shown behind closed doors was very early in development, probably only a few months from the way he was talking. He was in a hurry to make it.

I don't know, does that mean it still has problems but they just want to be done with it regardless? They should take their time I believe but they could be beyond the point of diminishing returns. I don't think it'll be very good but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised and eat those words.

How did I forget this thread existed and I made it before posting in Wii U general discussion? Old age.

Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 10PM about Summer releases for wii u and 3ds, so here's hoping we hear something about it, whether its delayed or not. I can't wait to play it but if it has to be delayed to be polished and be a good game then I'm content with waiting

Is that liam robertson fella reliable tho? i remember last year he had the ''big scoop'', that the Nx wouldnt be as powerful as the PS4 and that he was absolutly sure of it.

    Finally a Ninty Direct!

In short no he's not. He claimed Shovel Knight was in Smash, and if i'm not mistaken he was also the guy who claimed Nintendo weren't publishing Devil's Third, only to be debunked less than 24 hours later. He's also claimed other things that were false that can't think of right now.

My bad! I didn't know he wasn't the best I just seen it over on reddit and thought it would be good information to share here.

Ah well here's hoping the nintendo direct answers some of our questions one way or another

I can't ****ing wait for this game. The ND looked amazing.

Looked more like Starfox 64 which is great.

Hopefully motion control and cockpit view are an option as apposed to forced.

Oh and also really hope off screen play is an option.

And I want a first print soooo bad!!!!

Apparently you can turn it off in certain aspects but not completely as some levels will require it.

I Messaged The Game Collection regarding if they were going to stock the First Print version of SFZ and this was their reply:

"Hi EJ22, I'll check with our buying team but it will probably take a couple of weeks until details/pricing is available to us."

EDIT: I hope this First Print edition doesn't end up being a nintendo uk store exclusive

You sure? I thought when they showed the first print edition, the open steelbook have 2 disc holders. Unless they're just standard. Does Xenoblade Chronicles have one or 2 in its?

Star Fox Guard being a download code within a box is a bit like...
    An-empty-box-of-chocolate-008.jpg

It doesn't make the double disc slot in the steelbook exactly purposeful.

It doesn't look very interesting either, a Miyamoto experiment shoehorned into the Star Fox universe. It's stingy to not print a disc.

The main game is looking a lot better thankfully. I hope its issues were fully ironed out.

When I heard that Guards was shipping with Starfox Zero I thought, hooray! How do I change my order!
Now it's just a very expensive envelope for a download code I have wonder why bother?
Especially if this pack winds up being more expensive.
Or maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better after locking myself in with a deal with TheGameCollection, a good deal nevertheless.

I've seen a few of the separate videos but not the full Direct - Is there any indication if Project Guard will only be availble in this bundle or will it be a separate eShop title in due course?

And why did Star Fox not get an awesome dance like Yo Kai Watch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,164 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I wonder if Star Fox Guard is finished yet. I'd say this is the last thing that was worked on. They could be developing, fine tuning and polishing it right up until release date. Putting it on disc wouldn't have allowed them to do so without a day 1 patch or delay. I think this game is already on a tight schedule, would explain the rumour delays and why the steelbook has 2 disc slots but only 1 game. Last minute decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

....possibly the last minute decision that was due to be taken today? The twitter guy was right!

    http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2016/03/03/nintendo-tried-to-produce-a-transforming-arwing-amiibo.aspx

So looks like they were working on an arwing amiibo after all but couldn't get it the way they wanted for various reasons. Also nice to see a ton of stuff isn't going to be locked behind amiibos for those that are concerned about that sort of thing. In a way, i'm kinda disappointed we won't be getting an arwing amiibo as I'd buy that instantly

They'll be released separately on the eShop but they'll be the same price combined as buying it physically.

The final game was screened to journalists a few weeks ago, including discussion of Guard. And not a chance content for a Direct is only finalised the morning of. Not to mention the Direct aired before the start of business in Japan on Friday. They hardly made that call before 7am. The delay rumour was wrong.

What's the story with this first print edition, will it be advertised as such?

How did they advertise that first run of Bayonetta 2, the one that came with the first game?

Well... the Limited edition with the replica books was the "First Print Edition". Then the version that came with Bayonetta 1 bundled, if you ordered from Amazon, was originally listed as Bayonetta 2 at the Bayonetta 2-solo price, but with a description that suggested that you'd get Bayonetta 1 until the Direct that cleared things up and then they changed the listing... but if you fought your corner you got the limited edition for the original price.... Good times...

Star Fox Zero - First Print edition found here: https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/star-fox-zero-first-print-edition/AD2YW4

Now personally, i think £60 is a bit over the top for a steelbook so hopefully this isn't the actual RRP seeing as this is the first site I've found with the game listed for pre-order. I'm going to hold off for now at least and see if any other retails start putting it up as TGC, Amazon, Nintendo UK Store, Gamestop or Game.co.uk don't have it up yet.

Star Fox Guard Download code is actually a good price from this site though: https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/star-fox-guard-voucher/AN276E?ic=alsoviewed-AN276E

Just to update on this. It seems I was wrong to say that it's only a download code in the box. For the First Print edition it's actually 2 discs, Starfox Zero and Starfox Guard. It's the Standard Edition of Starfox Guard, when bought on it's own, is the one that will have just a download code.

I've used them several times before. I just put my address as Ireland and the games get here. Now, I did have a bit of trouble with Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water. Their customer service is very good. They had to send the game 3 times. The first 2 went missing. The third arrived in a big box full of those transparent bubble pillows. The game slid around a bit in the box and got some minor cosmetic damage(scrunching of the outer cardboard sleeve).

Then about a fortnight later, one of the other 2 sent copies turned up. Surprised it made it here at all, it had "Co." and then nothing. So no county name or Ireland on it. And under that was written "Storbritannien". They send their games from Denmark, even though it's a UK domain address. That was a bad experience, took well over a month before I got it. But they handled it well and in all my previous experiences I had no trouble at all.

I didn't say anything about the second copy of PZ: MOBW. They told me that if games don't arrive at their destination then they're sent back to them as they have a return address on them.

Not according to the site anyway
We charge the money for the product when we ship it.
We usually ship the product so that it arrives on the day that the product is released.

Though not confirmed I'm guessing this will be a one size fits all, Europe wide bundle similar to Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water and others. I need to see a good price, if it's the equivalent of £60 like Coolshop and what the Nintendo Store are rumoured to be charging then they can take a run and jump off a cliff. No way am I paying €80, reviews will help make my decision to buy and for how much. €50, we have a deal. €60, and it better be awesome.
