Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Massive visit to PB town today. Smashed my 10k time. Full report if I get a chance later today. Delighted.

Was there a 10km race on or in training?
Excellent but you can't leave us hanging with no time

@Bambaata - I can't honestly, I've got more time improvements to make up than you guys as you can see!

7 weeks to Race 1 thankfully... should go fast!

I can see Fazz and BTH pushing the IM boyos this year with the mileage you lads are putting in:)

Lets see if they push us in races too! Or worse still, leave us behind ...

Overall it was a good weeks’ training. Got the hair done this week so avoided the pool, feels good to look half decent every now and then!! Two swims, 3 road cycles, one turbo and two classes. Finally had tough sports massage, which was well overdue. Particularly happy with the three cycles as I got some specific work done and hopefully I am beginning to improve on the bike – time will tell.
A new 10km PB, improved by 28sec (Jan 2011). The last 10km I took part in was The West of Ireland’s Mini Marathon in May, so I had no idea of my form (apart from info from track sessions). I think I only raced at 85% if I’m honest so will give 100% in Tubbercurry 10km this St Patrick’s Day.
    Objectives this week:
    1. 10km PB:eek:
    2. Stretch and roll
    3. 3 Cycles.

    Where has RacoonQueen gone?

    Where has RacoonQueen gone?

Took myself out. Haven't updated fully in about 4 weeks. Might re-enter somewhere along the line but for now it's just encouraging junk training. :)

Everyone below me got moved up a spot. :pac:

That's an interesting point RQ and one I have considered. There is a temptation to get involved in chasing numbers rather than a plan.

I find it a good motivator for the bike though as I need a kick up the backside for that.

Ranked overall up to date folks, sorry for delay.

3 greens up on the board and a couple of cycling greens a dry weekend of cycling away.

Fazz the clear leader with 2 greens, well done Chief!
DoryDory odds on to hit the first run green

Shame to lose RC, not the same without our prolific posting hoochie :) But hey its not all junk miles, Bamabaat is probably the fastest boardsie on the challenge and he is top!! Just log what you do

Looks likely that there'll be three more greens by the time the weekend is over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,208 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

updated the ranking there folks. I know there are a few updates to come in, particularly green ones. I'll redo the ranking tomorrow if I get a chance

Well done on the cycle green Bambaata!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭Fazz

    Echo that well done Ed.
I'd hazard a guess and preempt with a well done Eugene and Izoard also! ;)

Steady as she goes. 6 weeks to first tri lads won't be long coming now!
I'm itching to go, but need to do some speed work first of all so I'll take the 6 weeks :D

Recovery week out of the way now, the hard and fast work will be coming on board soon enough!

So again focus for this week is get through the hard sessions as best I can, and continue with injury prevention and keep up the consistency.
Oh, and hopefully nab a PB of sorts at the hilly 10k on Sunday. I don't really have a 10k pb per say (never done one outside of tri's), and this is more a dust off the cobwebs and prep for speed work race so who knows.
There is a few tri lads in it though so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm afraid not. Been flattened with the flu since Saturday eve. Feel like I've been hit by a bus. Damn work colleagues last week turning up at work when they're sick and coughing on me all day.

Cheers lads. Thought i was about to etch slightly closer to you Fazz but then i see you did a fair amount of cycling yourself!!

Bank hol and the weather that was outside I was only too happy to finish week with 2 x 4hr bikes. So yeah you would've caught me but for that.
Not much in it really, more interested in the quality of work leading into this important phase now I think. I'm expecting my volume to decrease a bit in the coming weeks, though distance may be similar as harder paced probably.
Last 2.5 months have flown by if you ask me!
Wetsuit will be coming out of hibernation soon!

Still running, not so much cycling, 0 swimming. Once Connemara Half Marathon is done I'll be working towards Swinford Half Iron so will share more love to swimming and cycling.

After struggling with injuries I've just recalculated how much work I need to do to hit the golds.

Feck! I reckon the swim and cycle will be done but getting my running up towards 50km a week will be tough!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,969 ✭✭✭hardCopy

Connemara Half done in 1:42:02, time to start swimming and cycling!

Next up is the Great Ireland 10K and then a cycling holiday in Italy before Humbert in July.

    Lots of work...

Is there a way to see when was the last time you entered some data? I’ve no idea when I last updated the table.

not sure to be honest. can you just enter your updated numbers?

After missing the best part of 2 weeks with flu and headcold I'm chuffed to be back doing a bit this week. Suprised I didn't lose more places on the table, only Down 1, has everyone been sick or just not updating?

Did I just see a smiley headed Fazz running down the N11 wearing a ridiulous looking hat??

    :D Guilty!

I was on a high from nailing a decent Brick session.
The hat was a green carlsberg freebie that's too loose and the wind was blowing it off my head :)

    Good luck at Ashford!

I saw you were close earlier and was just about to post up what are you waiting for :D

Good work out of you. And still Sunday and BH Monday to start next week to go.

    Gotta love the long weekends!

Cheers Fazz, i normally work bank holidays and good friday but taking the 4 days out this time allowed some additional time on the bike. You are putting savage work in yourself.

Yeah going pretty well but we'll find out soon enough thankfully.
All this guessing and numbers are meaningless - Race day or bust.
Sportsman Duathlon next Sunday and I can't wait.
After that it's first Tri of the season at Joey.

Be interesting to see how we all stack up in race performances relative to the SBR. It may have no meaning whatsoever, or just some we shall see.
We all know volume isn't the important part, but for some of us it helps :)

See you at the Sportsman so as i am racing there myself. Quality over quantity every day of the week!!

Race performance for me will be, as ever, mediocre. But I'm hoping it will be slightly less mediocre than before. :) See you guys in Limerick!

Agreed. Good stuff hopefully be a few more there too from here?
Reckon it should be stacked as a week before burnfoot so nice for a smash.

You are closing alright that's for sure, though I had a low bike week last week.
I'll be keepin you honest for the next few weeks build don't worry ;)

I could say the same back to you regarding run update!
    :D
Few of us pretty close and hovering..

The real questions have to go to the IM lads... Getting their asses kicked on the bike by the HIM crew!! What's up with that? :):D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,112 ✭✭✭Bambaata

You'll be riding off into the sunset now. Im in a recovery week and only 3.5 weeks to main race so taper to come. Running will also be down in the coming weeks. Had a few 55+ running weeks with few missed sessions so thats prob why ive made headway there. Needless to say that wont be maintained over the coming weeks either as i get closer to D-day

    Speaking of Mallorca 70.3...

Think I read Owen Cummins is racing it?

I'd say it'll be nice to have main race done early then just have fun after that!

    Green for running!

Hard-earned - the kms that put me over the 1000 mark were completed in the furnace that was the Boston Marathon on Monday.

34 degrees C - I hope nobody here ever has to race in those conditions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,888 ✭✭✭Dory Dory

Congrats on the green, KentuckyPete. Well done. Do you have a race report for Boston??

Fair play, I think running in those conditions to get a green should entitle you to a Degree from University of HTFU :)

    Hi Folks,

Just updated the overall rank there. Surprising how little movement in 5 weeks actually apart from the green target flying in.

Well done to KentuckyPete for hitting the first run green during the Boston Marathon, Chapeau :)

Next up Bambaata in the swim green and hoochiedoubledee for the second run green.

Fazz must be no more than 3-4 swims from the first Gold... picking up where interested left off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭Fazz

Do I just stop training when I hit the Gold is it?
And focus on the other ones instead LOL :)
    Ha 20k in 3-4 swims :D
    Not quite...

It might be close on hitting it at Joey though.
    If not then soon after...

That and bike 2 are within a few weeks, but run 1 is still miles off... Literally :D
I'll leave that to you Ironmen and Marathon Brave Folk.

Bad news, El D....with my pool opening in a week (and me in it as soon as chemicals stabilize and temp warms up (I have a heater)), I plan on picking off as many of you lads as I can and move my lil self up the SBR ladder. ;) (of course my bike may suffer a bit from the extra time in the pool, but I gotta make swimming hay while the sun shines!)

Oh, and green for me in the run tonight.

First sea swim of the year today. Actually very nice. Feet were very cold getting in but no other part felt too cold. Stayed in for just 12mins or so and felt great. I did however get me of of the blue seventy neoprene hats and it made a hell of a difference. Head was grand and warm. I also get horrible ear aches and it solved it. Nice 700m or so. Bloody lashed while i was getting changed! That was the coldest part
