Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah I sent it to that address. It was a 6mb file, could that be why it didn't go through?

No sign of it, I checked spam etc. but don't see it anywhere. Can you try again? Is it possible to reduce the file size a little?

Mine's on the way, either tonight or first thing tomorrow, if that's OK ?! :o

Anything up to 10Mb should be fine by email though it will depend on your provider. If you send and don't get a bounce back with transmission problems or errors then your email must have gone somewhere so worth checking your email transaction logs.
Maybe for those having problems with emailing large sized image files you could set up an ftp account, upload only, with username and password sent in two seperate pm's with the account closing on Sunday.

Gmail allows emails of over 20mb AFAIK. So if your provider doesn't allow large emails just open a gmail account and send it!

I have a quesition and an idea...
questions- should there be a seperate thread for talk & ideas (like my ides below) for the Photobook or is this the thread to use?
My idea- The evening could be a good opportunity to give away/swap any photography related magazines, books etc. that you have at home and you've read.
I know I have a fair few magazines & the odd book or two (Bryan Peterson) that I've read and could pass on....

This thread is fine for any and all discussion of the launch night - no need for extra threads :)

Sounds like a good idea, see what people come up with perhaps? The only thing I would say is that many people will be on what I hope will be a photowalk that day, so won't want to be carrying anything with them.. plus we will be going to a pub for drinks later and I for one am bad at minding things once I have had a few! The book will be my main focus of things not to lose ;)

Ok, at the moment we are still missing photos from the following:
    CabanSail
    City-Exile
    Buzz_Lightyear
    toe_knee
    thelastdj
    The_Snipe

If you have sent it and are in this list - please try to resend. Otherwise we need to find another alternative!

A few of you would have received an email from me today about your photo submission. Can you please get back to me urgently on this.

    Thanks

Thanks Darren - yes, that was the wrong photo. And thanks for the chance to send on the correct one.

I like the sound of that idea too, I have quite a few magazines and a few books which I don't use anymore (having looked at my shots, maybe I should get back to reading again:P), which I would be delighted to swap/pass on to someone who is grateful for them!!! I would have to stay overnight anyhow so would have the car with me, and have no problem minding stuff for people if we end up in the same area afterwards....

Is there a particular place where ye usually stay overnight? Or do ye all go your own ways after the event is finished? (This question is aimed at those traveling further afield btw)!!!

If a photowalk is being arranged, I presume it's on the same day as the launch? How early would ye start? (Never been on one:o)

Just trying to sort out whether to arrange accommodation for one or two nights, with or without my kids etc etc:D

Go without the kids! (I have kids too) You'll have the full day/evening to yourself and be able to photograph all day & fully enjoy the evening...

For photowalk the afternoon would suit me best. I'll be driving over from Galway that morning.
I'm sure a route will be planned. I havne't been on too many but I love photowalks- casual photographing while chatting to people & afterwards see two different takes/photos on the same stuff & see things that you missed.

Cheers for the offer to mind mags/books. I'll bring some along so.

Going on what I arranged last year. We started at 12 or 1 and I made people aware of the vague route before the day, then gave out a map at the start (it's a long walk) and gave my number so they could contact me when they got to town. I aim to do the same this time around. I included stops in 'areas' for lunch and a rest.
Your are free to come and go, with or without the kids, as you wish.

BTW: It ends at 6 the latest giving me time to get dinner/a rest before helping set up the Launch Location.

@SinisterDexter: are you happy to create the route for this year?

Sounds great, and so far it looks like I won't have de kids that weekend so should make it up in time for de photo walk.

Tips on where ye might usually overnight would be welcome (from those that normally do), as staying near the Red Cow area might not be convenient if the photo walk is in Dublin Zoo!

    Cheers:-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,182 ✭✭✭Tiriel

I would recommend staying as central as possible, the walk will most likely be city centre and the launch is on Camden Street, with drinks afterwards in that area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

So we're looking at having a raffle again this year. Anybody feel like donating a prize for it? As usual, all profits will go to charity.

BTW The book has gone to the printers
