Great seeing Rossi back on the top, and a great race as well.

Terrible news about Pedrosa, hopefully he can get that in some form of control, it would be a shame if he had to stop.

Those HJC must be pretty poor quality helmets, Lorenzo said the lining in his came loose and blocked his vision, I also remember Ben Spies HJC visor coming loose and allowing rain water inside at Indianapolis.

just wondering if pedrosa is out for the rest of the year. can honda replace him? if so who would be the likely replacement?

Livio Suppo has said that Honda will do everything possible to help Dani and expects Texas to be easier for Dani than Qutar due to the track layout.

Eugene Laverty had electronic issues which disrupted his race.

btw thought the BT Sports coverage was excellent and the new program chequered flag after the race was well worth watching.

If Dani has to step down not to sure who HRC would call up, last time they needed a stand in Jonathan Rea replaced Casey, Rea is now a Kawasaki rider so thats not a runner,Jack Miller maybe ??
Hopefully there will be no need for a replacement, as Livio Suppo quiped who would be faster than a one armed Dani (the arm pump affects the right arm)

Only seen the GP there. Unbelivable. Probably the most exciting race I've seen in a while. I love Marquez but Im sooooo happy to see Rossi win. And not easily either. Ducati back on form unbelievable to have more than 4 riders in riding for a win!

Moto3 as well was brilliant. Fabio Quartararo, moto3 debut, 15 years old, finishing 7th but fighting for first at multiple stages in a race!! Insane! It literally is like they get younger and younger!

Gutted to hear about Pedrosa, would love to see who could take his place.

i would hate to see dani go as i think he is a great rider but what are the chances of stoner been his replacement? considering he helped honda out in testing and also is set to race a honda in the suzuka???

i watched the race online but i have to say im swaying towards getting the bt package just for there coverage.

i have to saw i thought the whole day was great i really enjoyed the moto 3,2 and gp.

was gutted for sam lowes after working so hard to get pole to come off the bike was horrible for him.

there was a great battle between the 2 yamahas and surprisingly the 2 ducatis( was expecting it to be honda) it will be interesting to see in texas if marquez and dani get a good start will there be an even bigger battle for the front

Same here, I was gutted when I saw him go off. Looked like he was definitely on for the first or second spot. The same thing seemed to happen to him last year too, great in qualifying and then ends up binning it during the race. I just hope he can keep it upright from now on.

I would say the chances of Casey Stoner riding in MotoGP are nil.
He's done with that circus and he has said so many times.

Its unfortunate but thats his decision and even if he does ride the 8hr with VDM its nothing to do with coming back to MotoGP.

There's still a chance that Stoner would be willing to do a race or two until Honda get another substitute rider in. But it would be more likely I reckon that they'd move one of the satellite riders up (Crutchlow?) and put a HRC test rider in the satellite team.

Hope it works out for Pedrosa but as he's been seeing all sorts of specialists and already had surgery it doesn't sound great.

    Scrap the cap!

I would love to see what Crutchlow could do on a factory Honda!

Sam Lowes from Moto2 ? I've tried watching Moto2 a few times but I just cant seem to get into it.

Dani Pedrosa is to miss the next 2 races so as to under go surgery on his arm.

Honda test rider and former 250 world champion Hiroshi Aoyoma shall replace Dani for the two rounds.

Fingers crossed for a successful operation for Dani.

looks like dani had a good operation and should recover in 6 - 8 weeks

Interesting comments from Livio Suppo have appeared on Autosport.com which suggest that Casey Stoner returning was discussed but the cons outweighed the pros eg next two races are at new circuits for Casey.
Livio goes onto suggest that if Casey is serious enough about a return a wildcard entry at the end of the season would not be out of the question.

A surprising development in light of Casey turning down mega money not to retire back in the day.

Word on the street is that Cal has received a number of upgrades from Honda for this weekends COTA race which put his LCR honda on par with the factory bikes.

Update:Cal has confirmed that LCR have a chassis upgrade but added that it was expected for this weekend. ...

Meantime Casey has been tweeting about his disappointment at not racing this weekend - Honda have said that if a test had been possible then maybe Casey could have raced but stressed Casey contacted them !

Watch this space ! Will #27 appear at Jerez on the May bank holiday weekend ?

What is going on with the times in Austin, it says Moto GP race local time is 2pm, but the App says it on live at 00:30am?? I am a bit confused as the time difference is only 6 hours, which should mean the Moto GP race is on at 8 pm Irish time.

Try updating the app, and check your time zone/location are set correctly.

Race delayed due to a water spillage on turn 3. I think it's due to start in 20 minutes time.

Fantastic day's racing in Texas. Really cool to see Kent and Lowes win, first time in 38 years to have two Brits win a GP on the same day. Both look like title contenders as well so could be a very good year. Really impressed by Sam bouncing back from his crashes, Kent's dominance in Moto3 was something to behold too. Marquez' pole lap was incredible

Great result for Laverty in Q1, unlucky to miss out on 12th by just over a tenth though

    What is Cal Crutchlows problem?

On the bike he's waving about at other riders, then when in the pits he's giving a big thumbs down sign! Wtf?

Honda surely wouldn't be impressed by this?

Shut the f*ck up an get on with your ****.

Well, he either starts getting on or nearer the podium than 7th on a factory Honda or he will be looking for another ride next year.
FFS Bradley Smith on last years Yamaha beat him in Texas.
Hardly the mark of a champion is it?

Cal wears his heart on his sleeve, in his post qualifying interview he said that he messed up one lap and Jorge baulked him on another, Cal reckoned without his error he would have been 2nd.knows he can do better and wants to do better ! Hope he gets a podium soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭bladebrew

I think the camera switching between riders made Cal look worse, I was watching on the app, all it showed was him going into the first corner waving his arm around, there was no one else even near him at the time, the commentators we're wondering what he was doing!
Was there an incident with Lorenzo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,384 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Thats experience showing, 9 times world champ showing the young guy how to win.
Marquez made a bad error of judgement, he knew VR was catching him by .5 sec per lap.
If he was a little more mature he would have said, I can't win with the tyres I have and I will just finish in 2nd and collect the points.
Now he is 30pts down and has a lot of work to do, He is capable of winning the next few rounds no doubt, but he has to work hard to make that deficit up and hope that VR makes some mistakes.
His biggest problem right now is the fact that Dani Pedrosa isn't his teammate and there is no-one there to take points from other riders.
Hiroshi Aoyama isn't anywhere near Dani as a replacement.

Cal made an interesting comment that the plan for the Hondas was to hold back to save the tyres and fual and by doing that he could pass Iannone on the last corner,Cal then added that Marc didn't stick to that plan !

Was chatting to cal after the race, the plan for Honda was that Marc would go hard at it in the early laps and try and open a gap (he did this) and cal would play the long game and conserve tyre life to be quicker at the end of the race. He was to block other riders and hold them up in the early laps (he did this) and then after half distance he would have the tyre life to push closer and try and fight for the podium. Marc opened a five second lead over vale at one point but shot his tyres and lost the race.
crutchlows race was exceptional though, really strong to keep his consistency and a really deserved podium even if he inherited by marcs crash

Maybe it was a throw away comment by Cal immediately after the race ? Cal seems to be able to play to the audience. Either way his last corner move was exceptional.

Any word on Dani and the second Honda or is there truth in Aoyoma staying on board but the newer bits been shared with Cal and LCR ?

Cal getting new parts in COTA was always planned, Scott gets his upgrade for Jerez. Dani's surgery was a success and they found 'somethjng' but no one will know for sure til he gets back on a bike. The plan is for him to ride at Jerez but it's not 100% certain that he will. There's a test on the Monday as well so hiro wil definitely be in Spain one way or the other
