Yeah I ended up with country clean. The landload had Greenstar already sorted for us last year (included in the rent) so I was unsure what offers were out there.

In the terms & conditions it mentions a cost at the end of the period with them? Do you know anything about this?

Nope, I didn't see anything like that on the website! And I asked one of their representatives on the phone was there any hidden charges or fees if we only wanted 9 months with them and they said no. They said all you pay is the 25 a month. So there shouldn't be any extra fees...

I dont think you can just sell on your place?..

yeah i can. I asked them if i could move out now and they said i would lose the 2200 i payed but if i got someone else to buy my lease that would be fine. Of course I would go to the student village office with any potential tenants to confirm this.
If someone wants to buy my lease i bought 2200. I will sell it to them for 1600. They can give their money to the office in the student village andthe student village then refunds me.

Right, anyone looking for accomodation the following is available:

    Magazine Road:

    3 Bedroom Appartment, broadband included €65 p/week
    2 Bedroom Appartment, broadband included €65 p/week

Both are a 1-2 minute stroll to college.

Greenmount Avenue (1 min from Lennoxs, 5-10 minute stroll from college)
3 Bedroom House, €65 p/week (broadband not included in price)

Croaghtamore Square: 3 rooms left of 5 bedroom house, €75 p/week. (so could rent out a room to a single person)

PM me or reply for more details or to arrange a viewing if you're interested.

Are any of these still available? I'm in second year science.

Hi, need some quick advice. Im starting my course in UCC on monday and am stuck between 2 places to live. One is right beside the college with five other girls and the other is much further away in dillions cross is a,much nicer house and cheaper. Would you recommend the house with fellow students or the one with no students as to making friends and socialising?

I'd go with the one nearer to college with the other students...but I am going with the assumption that you're new to UCC and don't know many people there. If you want to make friends I'd say living with other students is a good way to do it, especially if some of them are new too.

Also, Dillon's Cross is MILES away! 9am lectures would be tough!

I was looking at that saying I know where Dillions Cross is but couldn't place it! Then it clicked - Dillions Cross is the other side of the city, about a 30 minute walk from the college. Only thing though, is that the number 8 bus passes right through it, so you wouldn't have to always walk

Anyone near the music department would be an ideal housemate.

1 guy and 1 girl already so either or sex would be more than welcome! :D

PM asap if interested..place will prob be gone after the weekend

Hey guys. I have three rooms going in my current house that I need to fill urgently. I'm a postgrad student who just finished an arts degree and living in NYC for three months, and I just returned to an empty house as all my previous housemates scarpered.

Rooms are about €300/month each, though the smaller room goes for less just to be fair as its half the size of the others. Utilities not included and you'll have to take care of your own internet, but there is a big TV and PS2 that you're welcome to use. Small kitchen but all the other rooms - living room, bathroom - are decently sized. There's even a back patio too. Central heating, big windows in every room, you know the stuff.

My landlord prefers female students so sorry to cut out any guys looking... I'm personally not bothered but I don't want any trouble from him. It doesn't matter if you're a first year or a postgrad like me, any kind of student is welcome.

    Anyway, to summarise:

3 bedrooms available for female students, €300/month, Magazine Road - 5 mins from UCC, No. 5 bus, no. 10 bus, etc.

    PM me for details!

My friends always complain about the broadband in brookfield! One of my friend's housemates has to sit on the top of the stairs to get good reception! It seems really awkward! Most of my friends have 3 broadband and that seems a far better choice over paying for brookfield broadband!
Any update on internet in Brookfield. They were meant to be doing some work on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 Lady Gagarin

Hey guys, just a followup to say I still have 3 free rooms on Magazine Road, and they're open to anyone interested as my landlord decided he doesn't mind male or female students now. €250/m minus utilities, Drop me a PM if interested.

How many are you looking for? I don't think you'd get one per room.

I lived in a really nice house on highfield avenue last year and one of the rooms had an ensuite. The year before I lived in Jennings Pool apartments in Brookfield and each apartment there has 1 room with ensuite. They're rare enough in student houses, I'd be surprised to find more than one in a house

    Hi :)

Just wondering if anyone has lived in Mardyke Hall and if they would recommend it? Can't find any info in previous posts. Thanks!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1 Reximus300

    Hey. :D
I'm hoping to go to UCC next September and I'm wondering where's the best student accommodation to live, as I hear it's better to stay in them in first year. I'd like somewhere not too strict, meaning I can have a person or two stay and can have get togethers without any problem. Im also looking for a good place to make friends with other first years as most of my friends are going to Limerick. I'm hoping to get somewhere fairly cheap but not so cheap that it's a dump. Distance isn't that big of a deal for me but the closer the better of course. Iv been searching and Several places look good. Fullers lodge and the village are great deals but I don't know if there's better places to go?
Id appreciate any help and information. Thanks! :)

Pretty much the same here, but when looking last year, we had no luck until late june. It does sound like leaving it to the last minute but houses will probably be a bit cheaper/ not a total dump (seriously, some of the ones we looked at this time last year were really bad)

Also, four of us are looking too. So any advice would be appreciated if you get some =P

ps sorry for hijacking your post

No problem, we're actually looking for a 6-bed now! I thought we could get one sorted now because we got our house at this time last year. I did see on the UCC website that houses will not start coming through until May but the prices are lower than this year = http://www.uccaccommodation.ie/cheaper-houses-for-next-year/

Also, if anyone wants a 3-bed near college, I could pass on the number for where we're living now, it's a lovely house :)

My friend & I are working in UCC for the month of July (and maybe into August) and we are looking for some student accomodation in & around UCC.

As I'm not from Cork, I'm finding it hard to know which places are good, bad or brutal! Mardyke Hall, Lancaster Hall, Brookfield are some of the places I've come up with that have good rates over the summer.

I've gathered from the thread that Deanhall is desperate so I've crossed that off my list. Are their any others you could recommend to me?????? Any advice would be fanstatic:)
