Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I assume the content will depend on if you have a Irish or UK ip address.

Id say the content is tied to the EPG lineup you have and not your IP address. Its too easy nowadays to circumvent IP address restrictions.

I connected my Amstrad box to the internet tonight for the first time, I rebooted it and Anytime has now changed to On Demand, no service though only a name change and still the same few tv shows which were "pushed" to the box via satellite in there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 278 ✭✭GEO147

So what do we get on 11th exactly? The new EPG and the access to on demand? Or for those with boxes yet to be updated, just the ability to download content?

You seem to have to activate the service on your sky account and as your account is an Irish Sky Account I do not think an IP address change would work. Waiting for Sky to get on the ball and start the service seems to be the only option.

I take it this is not available for the Pace boxes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭Zed1601

Just signed up to on demand without any errors. Going downstairs to check it out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭Zed1601

Ok so it works with any BB. Mine is vodafone. No catch up service but some of the content is HD. Basically sky go on the TV.

I got the following when I tried to activate just now

    Unable to continue with order

That's weird. It worked for me this morning. I was getting that same error for the last few weeks but it went through this morning.

Worked for me on the Sky website too. Its activated. Had to go through a checkout process and everything.

havent got my Sky box connected by ethernet yet, will hook it up this evening.
Also still on the old EPG so dont know if that is relevant?

Same, worked fine for me too.

Downloaded about 32% of Moonraker in HD now in an hour. Seems to be going quicker than I thought it might with my internet speed. Shall be happier with the content once a lot more of it gets sorted in HD at some point, hopefully.

Tried it again just now and it worked

Lads I just went through the whole process there to checkout, how long will I be waiting for it to kick in on the box?

Edit: Just working now, looks good ITV Player working perfectly.. wasn't expecting that.

I went and connected the box via ethernet within like a minute of signing up on the site, was all working by then.

Cool. Must have a proper look when I get home. As I'm doing card trick too. I was expecting there to be a catchup tab and all the players would be in there

Just looking through the ITV player section there now and it doesn't seem to be the full player, seems to be a selection of all the ITV channels, better then nothing though.

It's not working for everybody. The title of this thread is wrong. It has not been launched yet.

Took about 5 min to kick in for me, just keep the Ethernet cable plugged in and it should come eventually.

Just Activated it online and have already used it. ITV player is also on there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,364 ✭✭✭campo

Does ITV player only work if you are currently using card trick ?
also what is the box sets selection like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭anonanymore

Mine is set up and working, including ITV player.
Any idea why we can't get catchup in ROI?

  • Registered Users Posts: 35 owensheehan

ITV Player just seemed to work for me, pressed okay on a program and it downloaded, I have not done anything with my card. The box sets in the actual box set section are mostly skys own shows, and things like Mad men (season 5), Greys anatomy(season8), and doctor who(season 3). But there are a lot of other programs in the library with multiple episodes, like the Walking dead, but not full box sets. Also Sky store needs a phone line to rent movies, it doesn't use the LAN.

The wireless connector is 13€ from sky

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,921 ✭✭✭✭hdowney

does it HAVE to be set up via ethernet? Just the usb wifi card for the mammys laptop kept cutting out so she is connected to the router via ethernet, and it is like the other side of the room from the skybox

Ethernet or an ethernet to Wifi adapter. It needs very good internet access. The service is not officially launched yet.

I get to the checkout part and fill in the details and it buy but it just keeps going back to the checkout page.

It's recorded by your box overnight, usually takes 3-4 days before you see any significant amount of content appear under it.

It doesn't on my box anyway. But I am still waiting on the update, so it may be different on a box with the update. When you select a program it will put a record symbol next to it or under it (depending on the menu) then it will either say downloading or scheduled, when you go to the Downloads part of your planner it will be in there. It will queue multiple programs and download one at a time. It will allow you to play the program once about 3% is downloaded (this is shown in the description).

    Same as that, pure annoying

  • Registered Users Posts: 35 owensheehan

Just Noticed you don't have to go back to the Download screen, you just wait on the Anytime/ondemand screen and the program becomes available. So its not as quick as netflix but fast enough once you don't have a queue and if you decide you dont want to watch something but want to watch something else you have to stop the on going download of the original program (if its ongoing) before the new on will begin to download. Also you can only fast forward up to where you have downloaded, unlike netflix.

Surely it is only a matter of time that we will have RTE, TV3, TG4 Players available through the service?

I'm onto them via twitter. So far they've sent me a new link to try and to try a different browser.

    No joy.

Where's everyone seeing ITV player? Got OnDemand activated and have the new library and selections. Can't see anything relating to ITV player though.

Aah thanks. There for me too.

Just had a look. Seems mostly to be shows from the archive in there. Not really a 'catch up' service we're getting unfortunately. Although I wasn't expecting any sort of service from ITV so suppose it's a plus.

    Response to this from SKY
Good Afternoon. At the moment we have no plans to introduce this however we may look at this in the future, as we continue to improve the On Demand service. Thanks, Jason

Do the 4 new tabs...ie library showcase etc have to be downloaded automatically ie overnight...all i have is sky store??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,354 ✭✭✭nocoverart

The wireless box is only a one of payment, isn't it? It's just when i went to order it, it says an extra 13 Euro a month on my bill and a one off payment of 13 Euro through my credit card. Am i missing something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,921 ✭✭✭✭hdowney

Did my only yadayada, found another wireless usb adapter for the mammys computer, moved the internet box near the telly, connected the ethernet and bobs your aunt fannys husband there it was. Haven't had a chance to have a good shufti at it, but it seems reasonable for day one. Haven't seen much on the showcase part yet though. And it is a shame we canni get BBC iPlayer. I mean come on BBC get with the programme. I mean we don't even get ITV on Sky in Ireland (officially) but we are getting ITV Player. Yet we get BBC in Ireland on Sky and no iPlayer. I'd also like 4OD, but then I think even Sky On Demand in the UK hasn't got that yet, I believe they are getting it before years end though so hopefully it'l roll out or way too.
