Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Usually internal recruitment from Dublin Airport Authority. But been Afew years since they recruited.

Yeah it's usually internal so you'd have to be working for DAA already and go for it then. No idea on when they'll be recruiting next etc... Nice job though!

That's what I was thinking. Yeah, it would be unreal. I applied to Gatwick and got down to the last 50. Would be nicer to be closer to home. Guess those guys just don't want to leave :D

The use to have a split roster with the airport police. Like few weeks fire fighter few weeks police officer. Think some member still do it. Perfect job in my opinion

Perfect is right! And the added bonus of variety doing airport police as well. Is it any wonder anyone who has a job there never quits. :)

Announced last week. Closing date 6th March I think. you won't hear anything back until the application process is over. I'd imagine we will do the aptitude before end of March

I wonder how many positions they're recruiting for? Presumably the training is done for a batch of recruits.

    Coolio.

Would there traditionally be a large amount of applicants? Just wondering about my chances of being called. I've only a B Licence and no relative experience bar two years in Security.

I always thought that it was nearly always internal recruitment myself. I heard that they are looking to recruit 15.

Anyone got any idea what the pay is like out there? It's private sector right? Employed by DAA...? Not like the regular public sector fire service??

From what I've been told, there are a lot of retirements coming up over the next 3 years within the airport fire service, so that explains the panel.

I'm not sure what a new firefighter is getting in Dublin airport but with a few years service you'd be on near the 40 grand mark. I reckon the whole application process from actually submitting paperwork to starting training if you're lucky enough is going to take a few months.

Traditionally the fire service gets huge interest. Last year cork city had 2500 applications for 18 jobs.

Don't worry about it. Lads with fire service experience will have a slight advantage. But not having experience isn't a deal breaker as they do like a variety of different people with different backgrounds.

Apparently they are only letting a 1000 do they aptitude test, so they will do a shortlist of the CV's they receive ... That's what I heard today .

It'll take a few months definitely. Patience is key in these recruitments. Trust me

Does anybody know how online aptitude tests work? I.E How do they know who is on the other end of the computer?

I also notice that a company is doing a two day course. The dates are the 12th + 13th April. Would that suggest that the online tests for the shortlisted candidates would be near enough to those dates?

There's no way of telling but why would you get someone else to do it? It's easy enough.

That will be too late Id say . I think the aptitude is next week or week after

Ring daa HR and ask them but it'll be sooner than that

Sorry, my bad. It was the 12th and 13th March.

I would imagine it would take about 2 weeks to go through applications if they started after the deadline. Maybe they've been going through them as they come in.

Of course, but people who cheat could be edging out the honest folk if it was only the top X% going through.

I'm going to call HR tomorrow to find out for sure.

Actually , it says on the email after I applied that they will look at cv and contact me if my cv matches their needs. So CV is first round. I guess we all won't get a aptitude test.

That would go with what somebody says in an above comment. They said they heard only 1000 to get aptitude test.

Spoke to a colleague regarding the timeline from initial application to actual start dates and he put it anywhere between 4 and 6 months for the first batch. The last time they recruited for bodies was in 2009 and it was an internal competition and it took nearly 6 months to get through everything. So we're all in for the long haul, plus I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap the panel after a year and revert back to internal recruitment.

Was considering it, but decided not to, they hadn't got the exact nature of the tests but am sure it would have been worthwhile, there's plenty of resources online to practice. Did you do it yourself ?
