Foux the group is set up for something else but has basically become about bitching 50% of the time. Thanks again to everyone for cheering me up :)

Jane hope you're ok about your Nan, my Nan had to move to a hospital/home but it was a relief as she needed the care, my uncle now lives alone though (he always lived with her, as did my other uncle but he died two years ago) and I feel so sorry for him, all alone barely able to look after himself :( It's tough, but she'll be well looked after xx

I think that we have met - did you go to the TLL Galway meet up for the eye cinema screening of His & Hers a couple of years ago? Or maybe I'm confusing you with another boardsie, but nearly sure when I saw your pic today that I remembered you.

I was a noob boardsie and very shy :p

Hmm, yes I did, did you have a different name on here then?

Also Foux yes I have an uncanny knack for being screwed over by females, no idea why tbh. I've had much better luck with men than women, I always say more female friends have broken my heart than boyfriends!

Teeny bit annoyed. My e-mail may have been hacked or something by one of those scam things and sent about 20 e-mails to addresses in my contacts list saying stuff like "Hey, check this out.." or "This thing changed my life.." Stupid.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,641 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

That happened to a couple of my friends before when we all used to use 'hotmail' which was full of spam, viruses etc..
My facebook did that before too, sent annoying links to all my 'friends.' Grr..

I'm using Hotmail actually. Don't really want to stop using it because it's my personal one and I've signed up for a good few sites with that one. I have another one for official stuff like for putting on my CV and for my IVNA stuff.

Holy cow I got a bit left behind :p
Had a wonderful weekend with the boy - gig, private pub crawl, cheeky hotel stay :D
Major dilemma on my hands... I applied for the position in the Madrid Penneys and it'll be a little while before I hear about it. Trinity Ball tickets go on sale on Wednesday, ball is on when I could be in Spain....what if I don't get Spain?? Ugh what to do what to do!

Congrats on the job Seomra Mushie!!

Sad to see Storm and Rebel go, cake talk definitely scared them away. Cool it y'all! :p

Hope everyone is doing ok. Hugs for all! x :)

Fingers crossed baby Ivy pops out soon!

Bubblefett, Sorry to hear about your Granny. Really sounds like you coped very well with the situation though. I’m sure she will recover quickly because of that. Also that cake looks great!

Jane, *Hugs* will be thinking of you. Just remember it’s the best thing for your Granny.

Javagirl, congrats on the baby news! :D

Semele, congrats on the date! Feel excited for you! :o

Acoshla, don’t let them get to you! You seem like such a lovely person and are very hardworking and talented at what you do. Hope you have better luck with female friends in the future. :)

Sunflower27, congrats on getting the place on the training course. Doubt they told everyone that they were favourites. Best of luck with it though I’m sure you won’t need it! :)

Finished my super long assignment earlier. Wasn’t an up until all hours of the night job either. Can’t wait to hand it up tomorrow! :D

Doggy is feeling sick. :( He keeps doing these weird gulpy things in his throat which past experience tells me means he needs to get sick. I’ve brought him out the back 3 times in the past hour in the hope it would help but it hasn’t.

Word has obviously gotten out at home that STBEH and I are splitting - I just got a text from a seriously cute guy who drinks in our local.

One small problem - he's only frickin 21! Ha ha ha!

    I'm absurdly flattered, though.

I'm the least morning-y person in the world! I'm still in bed at the minute hitting snooze for two hours despite knowing my driving instructor is likely to arrive any minute. To make it worse, I regularly work 14 hour shifts so I have to get up at 5.15 to be there at 7am, knowing that I probably won't get a break and I'm not going to get home until 10pm:( I'm barely human until around lunchtime and thats only a brief high before the afternoon slump! I'm totally wide awake by the time I get home though so then can't sleep for ages.

Pre-date nerves are off the scale! He's coming straight from work so will be in a yummy suit!:D

I thought I'd already found my soulmate :(

Nowhere near the ready-to-date stage anyway. Reckon I might be there in, ooh, about two years. Although I'd make an exception if Michael Fassbender turned up on my doorstep and begged to take me out...

I joined an online dating site last night, i've never even thought about it before but the idea just pooped into my head so I said i'd go for it with an open mind and see what happens.

Like with most things theres a big 'but'. I would love to meet someone BUT I wouldn't be entirely comfortable telling friends and family that we met through a dating site. I'm in my early 20's and I feel like it's more acceptable for the over 30's to turn to the internet for dating and that the general attitude would be why can't you just go out to the pub and meet someone like other people you age.

I'm probably being really silly here so if you think I am tell me!

Ugh that happened to two old email accounts belong to me, one was Hotmail and the other was Yahoo, which was linked to my Hotmail.

Someone sent out about 200 emails all about Viagra. My cousin who was about 10 at the time got one, as did all of my contacts plus a few hundred random people none of which I know.
No, ye all must be sick listening to me! Going into the clinic this evening.
Good luck Ivy, hope all goes well for you and baby Ivy.

Some twat on my dads Facebook yesterday asking him if he could go for a walk or something around the grounds of hospital he is in, course he said no, they had to ask about three times more before he stopped replying.

My boyfriend and I are booking our hotel tonight, I can't wait. Will be such a relief to have it booked.

My boyfriend came over for dinner, and then my family (two aunties and my cousin) arrived in unexpectedly.

They were so rude to him, it was shameful. My 15yo cousin walked out of the house and didn't say goodbye, kiss my arse, absolutely nothing to anyone.

Just left in a huff cause his mother (my auntie) was delaying him when he had school work to do.

Both my aunties barely spoke to my boyfriend, my uncle spoke to him for a bit, which was something.

I was so so ashamed of their behaviour. I was so tempted to say something to them about it but in the end said nothing.

You're being silly. I would see internet dating at any age as a very sensible attempt to cut out the endless merry-go-round of trying to meet someone on a night out.

I have a cold-flu thingy since Saturday and feel awful, bones and muscles ache and have a very sore throat. :(

Daughter is having a very hard time in school at the moment, teacher seems to have taken a huge dislike to her and is very tough on her. It was so heartbreaking to bring her back to school today after having been off since Thursday. I was so hoping that she would be happy going in this morning, but alas no.....we had tears galore yet again, with her wanting me to take her home. It was so hard to walk away, she is only 6 years old.

Huge hugs to anyone else who is having a hard time at the moment.

I use online dating - friends I know use online dating. I've had some really good experiences through there. Of course there are a few odd 'uns too, but you're going to get that everywhere you go. There's actually a pretty decent thread here, where people discuss their experiences.

If you're uncomfortable with telling people you met online - technically that's not where you met, that's where you started talking. Where you meet is wherever you organize your first date to be. The rest is just semantics.

I met my current partner on an online dating site. I was very nervous at the begining and the members of the ladies lounge encouraged me all the way along!! I am really glad that I tried it and have no problem in telling people how we met. All my friends and family are more interested in my happiness rather than how we met.

Question for ya ladies. Would it be rude of me to ask my oh's parents to get him a birthday present from his kids? It's very very unlikely that the mother will get him anything from them and I'm too broke.

    Opinions?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Ilyana

Jane, I hope you and your grandmother get on okay today, PM if you need a chat :)

Ivy, best of luck with the baba! Hope it all goes smoothly and mammy and baby are well :)

Sunflower, congrats on the Samaritans course!

Acoshla, hope you're feeling better today! As Honey said, some women are b*****s and revel in taking each other down to their own level. I've been there, it's not a nice place but you're so above them you can't even see them :) Focus on your work and the worthwhile people on your life, because that's all that matters in the long run.

I decided to straighten my hair this morning, instead of doing the reading for the class I have now.

    Priorities....whatever :p

little kids yeah? depends on what kind of terms you are on with the parents
are you close enough? maybe say it as a suggestion "what do you think of this idea"

Well if they know about your financial situation and the deal with the mother, they'll probably understand. Obviously if they're oblivious to it all, it might seem a bit strange, but not if they know what's going on.

    Just my opinion anyway :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

They know the mother won't buy them anything for him. Not sure they know how broke I am. But they know I'm spending a fair amount on his birthday present and offered to help me pay for it so I'm hoping it doesn't come across as rude.
