Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just back from the GP where I've had it confirmed I'm due my first baby on the 1st May next year so thought I'd start a thread for us May ladies. I think my actual due date will be later as I don't have standard 28 day cycles but should definitely be first week in May. Delighted to be pregnant as we've been trying for a long time and was beginning to think we'd need help conceiving.

    Anyone else out there?

By the dates of my last period I'm due April 27th, but I know to within a couple of days when we conceived after that so my due date will mostly likely be early-mid May, so I'm jumping in here too :) I have my doctor's appointment to confirm it tomorrow when I think I will most likely be moving to this thread, I posted a little bit in the April thread.

How was your doctor's appointment? I feel it's going to be a bit of an anti climax, these 2 weeks since we found out have dragged so badly already!

It was funny actually - I couldn't pee to produce a sample, had to sit in the waiting room for an hour drinking 2 litres of water and then managed a dribble. As soon as I left the doctors I had to rush home as thought I was going to wet myself  She just did pregnancy test, checked urine for protein/infections etc, palpated my stomach to see if there was any pain, asked about had I decided what hospital etc I was going to and recommended I get the flu vaccine when it's out in a few weeks. That was pretty much it!

Ok note to self, be prepared to pee! :)

    Or not!!

Ah it's still very early to know, most won't know for another few weeks yet.

Looks like there'll be a May baby arriving into my house - wife produced positive test last night, real early days, but very excited all the same! We already have a near-3yo boy.

So found out this wee I'm 5 weeks gone, should be due May 17th. Our little boy will nearly be 3 by then. Slightly scary!

    Hi Ladies,
Got my BFP last week on baby number 2 :) we are only trying since last month so really surprised at how quickly it is all happening!
Going by dates, I am due May 13th (ish) although my cycle can be really irregular so could be closer to the end of May :)

Told our parents the weekend, even though its very early days, were usually very sociable and as soon as I refuse a drink they would guess anyway! :D

Hope you are all feeling good! x

Glad there's a few people joining in! I don't really have any symptoms at the minute which of course is making me panic, can't win! I'm somewhere between 7 + 1 or 7 + 5 depending on dates, would love some morning sickness or something to reassure me... Famous last words!

Of all things, don't wish for morning sickness, 24 hour nausea is rotten :( Stretching pains and cramps - irritating but tolerable, tiredness - manageable, but the nausea, it's unbearable. Want to eat nothing, but have to eat something, ugh. You and me are almost exactly the same dates, count yourself lucky from my side if it helps any bit! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,154 ✭✭✭Dolbert

+1, I'm 6 months now and the nausea has only gone away in the last couple of weeks! Don't wish it on yourself, some women don't really get it which is brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

God yeah don't be jinxing yourself! I had constant nausea from 7pm until I went asleep most nights on my first. Actually heartburn and nausea made me do a test again this time. It seems to have settled down now, but I'm not counting my chickens it usually starts later than 6/7 weeks I think.
Have my first appointment booked already, learnt from last time :)

Ah spotty and Dolbert, sorry you've had such a bad time of it. I know I probably sound mad saying I want it I think I just want any sort of reassurance! I suppose that everything's ok. 12 days to my scan so hopefully when I see a heartbeat I'll relax a lot

Ah no I get it! How many weeks are you now? Mine didn't kick in til around 8 weeks.

7 weeks, tiredness is kind of back today so I'm even happy about that!

I'm just under 8 weeks, been sick for just over a week, praying that it goes at 12 weeks. The thoughts of possibly feeling like this for longer is horrific. My mum was nauseous until I was born :, (

We (the wife & I) found out yesterday. Can't tell anyone so instead I'm going to tell the internet and random strangers..... Very logical :P

    I'm terrified

So so delighted for you all, I haven't got a BFP yet but if I do it would be the very end of May I think. It probably won't happen and it'll be okay if it doesn't happen this month but it's very exciting!!!

Same here for me and the wife and we found out a couple of days ago, but have to go incognito due to cross over between internet and real life personas.

Have been trying for a little while, but only tied the knot very recently and not got used to referring to each other as husband and wife even yet. :)

We are getting a bit long in the tooth though, so will have to hope everything is fine.

Can finally join one of these threads :)
Faint BFP yesterday and much stronger this morning including 1-2 weeks on a digital clearblue!! Should be due 31st May as per the date of conception!
Now to start thinking of hospitals and level of care. Does anyone know if an underactive thyroid makes me more likely to be considered high risk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭Buttercup78

I know in the Rotunda you will possibly have to attend a special clinic, and afaik if you go semi private it would be worthless as you end up in the thyroid clinic in the public section anyways.

Was considering semi private in holles st but need to look into options more.

Yeah check how the clinics are arranged or if you'd even need to attend one. I know I had a friend in semi in the Rotunda and she still had to attend the public speciality clinics.

Very excited as this will be our first.

Spent all yesterday with what felt like a killer hangover, pukey everytime I moved, ate or drank anything. Woke up this morning feeling better, great stuff, except I now have a horrible taste in my mouth, tastes like I've got nail varnish remover in my mouth. Never had this in my first. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭angeldelight

I had my sister in laws wedding this weekend- great weekend but I am beyond exhausted. I'm very glad we told her, my parents and my mother in law as it meant I could go to have a rest etc when needed without there being any issues. Feel like I need to sleep for a week to recover and obviously I wasn't even drinking!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭spottybananas

That bad taste in your mouth is meant to be awful, hope it goes away soon for you!

We had a family wedding this weekend too, still havent told a soul and it was pretty funny when my sis in law started giving me tips for if we ever ttc and then her husband was telling us the worst words a man will ever hear are "I'm pregnant", lol! I'll remind him of that when he congratulates us :D Wasn't any more tired than usual after it, nursed one glass of wine all night and nobody noticed :)

Got my first faint bfp fri evening on an internet cheapie. Then a positive on a first response and cb digital (1-2 pregnant) on sat morning with fmu. Did another cb digital this morning with fmu and result was not pregnant. The internet cheapie was a faint bfp again this morning. I am 15 dpo and period was due yesterday.
What am I to do??? Feeling very sad/confused.

Hold off for a few days Blingy, I had neg tests until AF was late by 9 days!
Hubby thought I was mad because I kept telling him I knew I was pregnant!

I was exactly the same at the start, kept testing as I felt I couldn't possibly be lucky enough to actually be pregnant!

By this time next week I'll have had my first scan - can't wait!!

Yay I get to join the May train! Just back from the doc there and she confirmed I'm 5 weeks and due 26. May, this will be our first baby and I'm so excited! I'm thinking of doing the Domino Scheme as my sis in law just went through them & had a good experience and it's all nice and local. Does anyone have good excuses for not drinking?! It's my birthday next month and there are a few dinner parties on and I feel it will get noticed and I would prefer not to tell anyone til 12weeks.. Congrats everyone!

Blood pressure tablets, well that's what I'm saying. Had high BP on last pregnancy and through stress ended up on a low dose during the summer. Everyone still thinks I'm on them so no questions about drinking or bugging me about getting pregnant again.

That's a good one thanks Buttercup!

    That's great news :)

I'm due on 31st May. Got my BFP on Sat, the day before AF was due. I tested again this morning and it was still a positive thankfully.

For a total newbie - what should be my next step? An appointment with my gp? And is my first hospital appointment booked through my gp?
I can't really ask experienced friends or family as we want to keep it between just us (and the internet!) for a good few more weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 218 ✭✭tink2

I also forgot to ask my doctor are normal multi vitamins ok or are pregnacare are the best ones to take?

Where I am your first hospital appt needs gp referral, apparently some hospitals you can just make the appt yourself, but for your first time the gp appt would be good to go through questions and stuff. I got bfp the day my period was due, so at 4 weeks, I went to the gp to confirm it at 6 weeks, more to be sure that I'd be in plenty of time for the booking 12week scan, I was going to leave it a bit longer.

I'm 4wks and 1day today so will make a gp appointment for next week sometime, and will continue to google everything I need to know until then.
It's very exciting. I'm almost afraid to believe it's true though!

Hi, almost afraid to post here cause I don't even believe it but got my BFP today with a clear blue digital, says I'm 1-2 weeks, it's only our first month trying for our first baby so were in a bit of shock but so happy and excited, so I guess I'm looking for some advice, so afraid it's not true or something will happen, I'm naturally an anxious person so you can just imagine!! I will be 4 weeks on Thursday, so do most people wait until they are at least 6 weeks to go to the gp? Don't want to go to early incase something happens before then as I know it's so early, congratulations to all xxx

I was the same, now I'm at the stage where I'm afraid it is real, in the middle of the "what have we done!" thoughts, which I hear are perfectly normal...still terrifying though!
