Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OK, its nearly that time of the week again, great turn outs over the last 2 weeks, lets keep it going again this weekend , as I said earlier in the week I will be running a short 2 Hour spin group which may suit people who haven't been out with us before or those new to group riding ,there should be a longer spin group also but its fully dependent on people turning up.....

So as usual : 9.00 am Balally Luas Stop opp Dundrum Town Centre

    See you Sunday.

Turned out to be a good morning. Enjoyed the spin and beating the hill that beat me last time. Same time next week 😄

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭manafana

55km clocked up felt like more the wet tires you out, great down hill from stocking lane hope you enjoyed that.

Well done for pushing yourself. It's good to rack up the little psychological victories.
Thanks Lads, enjoyed the spin despite the wet roads and summersault off the bike.

Hope the ankle is ok, at least decent painkillers won't be a problem!

Ok folks , get your maps out ,this coming Sunday's spin is up to you , suggestions welcomed for approx 80k ish flatish spin.

We will see how many options are thrown into the pot and one route will be chosen on Friday evening.

. . .and as always New Comers welcome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,087 ✭✭✭Doc07

Hope you get dry roads. My ankle had become the size of my head by the time I got home. Nothing broken but soft tissue damage( and a bit of skin missing from my backside!) I will be a couple of weeks off the bike. Great fun hobling around work on cruthes today. Luckily I have an automatic car or I'd be grounded.

I'll see you all again hopefully soon. Stay safe out there.

Its tricky to avoid the hills, we could go upto foxes again and onto viewing point if weather is good then go down into glencree then there is a turn but thats more climbing. We could go past roundwood on similar route as last time>

My bike will be in the shop for at least another week...I might come out on my cx bike although the tyres are slow as on the road.

cue a "lets sort out colm18 with a bike thread"

considering last week the CX might be a good move

Also being on cx tyres gives me a perfect excuse if I've nothing in the legs. so yeah, no need to sort me out with a bike :pac:

    No it's not :

Dundrum Bray Newcastle Rathnew Rathdrum Laragh Roundwood Bray Shankill Dundrum.

Shorter spin for anyone requiring it would be basically to return from Rathdrum the same way as outward journey and maybe deviate a little closer to home. . .

    Anymore ideas ? ? ?

Do that so climbing or not is fine with me we will get there in end. Forecast is for a dry weekend for now

I was thinking of something similar Dundrum, enniskerry, kilcoole, delgany, greystones, bray , killiney, carrickmines, kilternan, Dundrum.

But your way keeps away from traffic and lights etc.

no average speed its not fast paced but not snail either, we tend to wait at any turns off or at top of any testing climbs. I have been back in dundrum by 1 all of the days so should be ok again

That longer route mentioned earlier including Rathdrum could be a bit tight for a 1pm return to Dundrum.

    Shorter option no problem

cut the route shorter and throw in another foxes test from kilternan for those with an extra 15-20mins?

    Dundrum - Templeogue - N81 - Saggart - Newcastle - Celbridge - Maynooth - Straffan - Sallins - Naas - Ballymore Eustace - Blessington - N81 - Templeogue - Dundrum

Pretty flat and easily alterable for time/distance by omitting places like Maynooth and Ballymore Eustace

    Hey lads,

I'm interested in coming out with you this weekend. Quite the newbie, did my first long cycles in years a few weeks ago in spain - 84k & 78k with av speed of around 21k.

Been out on a few shorter spins back home on the new bike. Certainly can manage faster on the flat.

Coming from Phibsborough (Don't worry I'm a southsider true and true ;) )

The cycle across might be beneficial anyway as it takes me awhile to get my breathing in check!

Also a friend is interested too. I'll ensure he's properly equipped.

    Here's hoping for good weather!

Are shorter / longer options happening?

    Cheers!
