Went to Tesco Swinford last night. First of all asked the girl at the checkout do they accept the Lidl vouchers and can I use it to get €30 Top Up plus some groceries, she said yeah, no problem. Was delighted, went back to pick up few bits and bobs and back to the same girl. There were few people in front of me so some guy pops out out of nowhere and takes me to the next till. Gave him the voucher and asked for a top up too and he said that can't accept it as the voucher can only be used against the groceries. Told him I asked someone else 5mins earlier and it was fine. He was insisting that they shouldn't be accepting it. Went to Customer Service afterwards and she said it should be OK but she'll need to check it with the manager. And here comes your man again :/ Told him that wasn't impressed. Not that he cared ;) Hope to try it in Sligo tomorrow. Was pretty annoyed all the same!
Used my €10 off Lidl voucher in Tesco Sligo this morning. Got €30 Phone Credit and just over €20 worth groceries. No problem whatsoever! :)

Generally I find it's best to go to a till with a younger (usually part-time) member of staff.

After problems yesterday in Claremorris (would not let me use voucher toward phone credit), had no problem using it today in Tesco Ballinrobe.

How the heck did all the eggs disappear overnight? There were oodles of them yesterday and there they were today - all gone, except for some mini eggs.

Kahlua Orange Juice six pack scanning at 1 cent in Tesco New Ross and Carlow. The apple juice six pack was 50c in New Ross but none left in Carlow. I've enough orange juice to last me a month!

Kahlua? Damn. So- I guess its a coffee/orange flavour?
Its well worth a drive down to Carlow for this I guess.

I'm guessing they're talking about the brand of juices that has that name (or something similar). The six pack would be the little lunchbox size cartons of juice.

Tesco Extra Drogheda had some games for Wii, 360 and PS3 going cheap also, Far Cry 3 was the pick of the bunch and PS3 selection seemed better than the others.

Just back from tesco maynooth, picked up an 8 foot swimming pool for 7 euro, seems a bit cheap considering similar ones in Smyths are going for 30/40. They were in the odd items aisle with a load of other summer outside things. Had no price on the shelf so had to use the scanner.

  • Registered Users Posts: 197 ✭✭bodhi085

Update on games in kinnegad. Most Xbox ones are now gone but plenty of ps3 left..however they are mostly the €10 ones. I managed to pick up 4 ps3 games for €5 each that I should have picked up yesterday.
I got syndicate (however there was a couple that was marked at €10 but I got one with €5 sticker on it which did scan at that price)
    Blur (last one)
    Saw 2 (2left)
Lord of the rings war in the north (2left)
This was at 10.30 this morning so plenty more could be gone at this stage.

Exact one is £30 sterling on their UK website (its not on the Irish one).

    Link here: http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-8ft-quick-up-paddling-pool/200-0592.prd

Also- one now left (in Maynooth- perhaps they have them in other branches?) - and they are moving the shelving there- so I'd suggest someone local pick it up asap- if you're interested.

Made full use of tesco deals for wine for the wedding, just worked out the "perfect storm" for the wine we wanted...

    Shelf price €17
    Half price deal €8.50
    Buy 6 or more -25% €6.38
Less competitor vouchers (Lidl Aldi plus both of our SV ones for this and last week all spend 50 and save 10)
    Plus less minimum 1% clubcard
    Purchase price €5.07

Times 100 bottles, saving vs list price was €1,187, not that we would have bought them at €17 each though but didn't plan on being able to combine the 3 deals resulting in 70% off! :D

Edit - the 25% off for 6+ ends today... Plus clubcard! :D

I assume you didn't have 12+ vouchers and had to stop and pay each time the bill hit 50?

You also got clubcard points too , right ? :D

How many clubcard points was that ? This is the deal which keeps on giving as you can maximise clubcard point effectiveness by using them to buy passes to Dublin Zoo/ pay off your gas bill etc at very attractive rates :D

  • Site Banned Posts: 880 ✭✭✭whiteshorts

The company I worked for some years ago had to restock their drink cabinet for the year.
I offered to buy all the wine and deliver it cheaper then what they were getting it at.
Bought about 3k worth in Tesco (they were the days of good staff parties ).
Got them the 25% off, I used my Clubcard with it and used a "Double Clubcard points offer" with the order :)
They were happy saving a minimum of 25% and I got all the Clubcard points.

The noise in the car home was worse! Lol

Ya we had to pay after every 8 bottles to make sure we squeezed every cent out of it!!

Didn't make it over to Clearwater yet , but checked Maynooth and it seems I missed the boat on the Fuji's ...

They had the T350 reduced to €27.11  ... but out of stock and the JV300 down to €11.50  ... but again, out of stock.

Might help others in their search of other branches.

I'll check Clearwater tomorrow as I'll be out that way

How did you know it was a tenner? Was it clearance marked with yellow sticker or did you just happen to scan it your yourself?

Asked in my local tesco this morning and was informed that they were sold off last week for €10, I would imagine the stock in each store would be small anyway so the chances of getting one would have been very slim.

Random pasta sauces (Tesco Finest, Sacla, etc) reduced, Indian sauces, curry pastes and sauces, rice, pasta. Reduced by at least half price, no end date so not a promotional offer.

Just back from Maynooth and got 2 ds i for 30 euro each. They had the ds lite for 50 quid. They were on top of the display shelf for the reduced games. Couple of each left.

Cheers ... got a purple FujiT350 for €26.32 in Clearwater (black version was €37.65) . The guy said there were a "few" left in stock. That was as of 3pm today.

There also seemed to be white Samsung WB150 on the display - showing as available although I didn't ask how many were in stock. €65.

There are also rack and racks of PS3 , Xbox360, PS2 , Nintendo DS and Wii games ranging from €3 - €10 ... didn't see any consoles reduced.

Quite disappointed. Noticed a hand written price of 5 euro on a ps3 game called "battleship". Remembering the 1c thing from before, scanned it, lo and behold 1c.
Went to self scan till, purchased it and when the shop staff went to take the box off me they refused the sale. I argued saying I had already purchased the item but manager was having none of it :(

Once you paid for it it became your property. You should have called the Gardai. Did you accept a refund?

That was your mistake. Up to the point where you took the refund, he was stealing your property.

I'd contact head office about that. You had paid for the game and received a receipt, it was legally yours and the manager had no right to remove it from you or to force you to accept a refund.
