If you are over 25 then that's pretty normal.

And who made up that little rule? You? Why is it okay after 25? Why not 22, 23, 24? You can't just make sweeping statements like that.

Didn't say anything about a rule, it's just normal enough. Most ppl will reach this figure by mid twenties.

Obviously I feel like a total twit for being a virgin at 25 near 26. But I was painfully shy in my teens and early 20s, plus I had no confidence so have naturally fallen into this position.

I've seen some threads about women not dating virgin blokes after 30 etc and has upset me obviously. I worry that I'm almost too old to have a girlfriend for the first time now as when you're in my position it becomes weird to be like this at my age. I feel like a loser obviously.

You have absolutely no reason to feel bad. If you look at this poll you will see most people have not had sex with that many people and if you look at threads on what age people lost their virginty, many people also admit to being older. You also have to take into account the amount of people that have to bull shit on the internet, and IRL for that matter, especially for stuff sex related. I wish I could say that my number is 1 and with my current bf but that's life. Just know that things will get better and when you do meet someone you'll gain so much more confidence knowing that they like you for you.

There is absolutely no problem with having sex with x amount of people before a certain age. As long as both partners are enjoying themselves and protecting themselves against STD's and pregnancy.

I have considered using an escort because at my age its getting silly now, I do feel like a deep loser because of it. But my social skills aren't great and I'm not "cool" enough in all honesty so I have to live with this utter failure that is me. I feel like a failure to my parents and to my family.

I've avoided contact with cousins/aunts in recent years because I don't want them to ask me questions about it so I've had to avoid them and pretend I just don't exist.

hang in there mate, losing your virginity is not all that big a deal... i think i can say for most of the boardsies here that the first time you have sex it is pretty awkward and crap, but it does get better particularily if you really like that someone special... but as the old addeage goes "practice makes perfect"

I think the poster might mean, the array is more spread out over the years 25 would bring the average amount of sex per year down. While if you were under 20 the average of sex per year would be higher. (Like to add I have no idea how it makes them a slut, a slut in my eyes is someone taking 4/5 at a time or sleeping with 2/3 people in one night)

Then again peoples sex drives are different.

Also I would never ever ever ever use a prostitute, if ye feel like popping one off, have a ****, if ye want the real deal fall in love with someone on a night out or long term, don't ever pay for it.
