Cut the grass front and back, then did the car. Tar removal is a pain in the tits but so worth it when the car is polished up. Polished the alloys and dressed the tyres - she looks brand new now. And of course you get the obvious "will ya do mine when you're done?" Em....NO! Feck off and stop lounging around and do your own!! :D

Ah de tarring the car is the biggest pain in the hole, when I first bought mine I dont know were your man had been driving but it was covered in tar took hours to get it all off but as you said well worth it :), polished up my own car the last few days was starting to get dust particles on the dash drives me nuts so scrubbed the inside smells so clean, washed her, dressed the tyres etc and with no heavy rain its still shiny and clean looking :). :pac: ah the legendary one liner everytime I do my car must get said to me about ten times that or if your keep polishing that thing youll wear the paint away is another fave of my neighbours.

That sucks about the job Baron .

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,255 ✭✭✭✭Esoteric_

Sorry to hear that about the job, baronvonsomething. :(

Marty, your reaction when you see dust on your dash is hilarious. :pac: I remember I tried to clean it once and made it worse and you got annoyed at me. :pac:

Just home from work, but have to get ready for bootcamp, bloody circuit training tonight. I'm shattered, didn't sleep well and woke up with a headache that hasn't fcuked off all day, so I'm dreading tonight's class. :( Ah well, I'm sure I'll be grand once I get there. Have to go anyway, I have to pay my next set of fees. :)

Sorry to hear about the job Baron :(

Anyone got any tips for removing masking tape remnants from the outside of a car? Had to cover the back passenger window with clingfilm and tape after some utter pr1ck smashed my window in.

water and a j cloth, a good scrub will remove it and a j cloth won't scratch the car

im fcuking dying. I managed to fall really badly on my leg while doing a nasty exercise that I'd never done before. My leg is all swollen and I can barely walk on it without crying. Yet I've volunteered to go get my friend smokes and bring them to her house, which I'm still not at, 40 mins after the class finished. :pac:

That'd be duct tape. Searched online and WD-40 seems the way to go

Excuse the crappy formatting. I hate DevArt's literature submission outlet. I'm so used to RichText...
In other news, I have a toothache and I'm suffering with the fact that I'll have no monies 'til Wesnday. I want to go into town and see about buying a new coat as my current one is old, the hood is falling off and it is in desperate need of a good dry cleaning.

Lovely day here too. Gonna sit outside for a bit...if I can find some suncream...would rather not look like a lobster.

Looking after my neighbour's dog while she's away. I've looked after him a few times since I have came back and don't know what has happened but he has gotten so vicious. He used to be really friendly and playful but now he goes all weird if you touch him and if you go anywhere near him when he is eating he starts growling at you. I was trying to let him out there but he was eating so couldn't get near him. Decided to try opening the patio doors from the outside but the minute I reached for the door handle he jumped at the glass snarling. If it wasn't for the fact he always goes for the feet I would have been pretty badly bitten a few times by now... Can't understand it, he used to be such a lovely dog, now I'm scared every time I go near him. It's only on walks he seems to be himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,204 ✭✭✭dodderangler

    Ignore him altogether
Open the door and go outside and completely ignore him turn your side to him
Do not let him see your afraid
He'll get more excited and show more aggression
If he snarls at you stand your ground and challenge him back with a loud shout

Take it from someone who has an Akita :) my dog used to do this with friends he didn't know and this is what I told them and it works

I can't see anything. Do you have to be logged in to see it? I'll try when I get home from work.

I hate everyone that can be out in the sun. Went out for a smoke and it's absolutely gorgeous. Won't be like that when I get off work :(

Mature content filter, prevents you seeing certain stuff unless you have an account and change the settings I think.

    Do NOT do this!!

Challenging a dog that is acting out of character is completely unsound advice. In fact you should NEVER challenge a dog that is clearly asking you to back off or you will get bitten. No way would I ever introduce my dog to people it didn't know by suggesting people challenge her!!

Killer, sounds like there could be something medically at fault with the dog for its sudden change towards you or indeed a recent event may have it uncertain with people other than its owner. There's a lot of reasons a dogs mood can change suddenly. Inform the owner and ask if this is a recent transition. If so I'd suggest getting it to the vet and get in touch with a QUALIFIED canine behaviourist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,357 ✭✭✭gregers85

I'd agree with FoxyVixen on that one too, if its a case of nervous aggression, challenging the dog or making a loud noise could spook him and cause the dog to react defensively and lunge forward!! definitely work speaking to a professional to see what is triggering the aggression!

Thanks guys for the info. I don't know if it is sudden, I was away for six and a half months. I thought first he might be uncertain of me but I've looked after him a good bit since I've been back. He acts the same around my parents and he would have seen them while I was away. I know more than once his owner's son had people over and threw house parties when she wasn't there so there is a chance that could have affected him (she's since taken the key off him after he trashed the house). Went up later and he seemed nervous but didn't react aggressively, just waited for me to open the door and went straight out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭FoxyVixen

House parties with the dog inside?! Could explain his uncertainty towards anybody other than the owner coming indoors. Poor dog. You'll have to build your relationship up with him again. He needs to know you're not something to be afraid of.

Ignore him completely on entering the house, going about sorting his feed and opening the doors. Don't make a fuss of him or acknowledge him snarling. You've entered his safe home and he has nowhere else to go to feel safe, hence appearing aggressive towards you. Fluid, soft but quick movements on your part. Nothing sudden or challenging!!

He does sound very uncertain poor fella. Just be careful with him and leave his feeding as the last job. He does sound like he's become food aggressive which could have something to do with the house parties - you never know what drunk people would find funny!!

Mention it to the owner all the same. They should know anything different in their dogs behaviour and be careful yourself that he doesn't catch you with his teeth. Sounds more nervous than a vicious dog, but that doesn't mean he won't nip/bite if he's uncertain in his own home with nowhere to run ;)

Cheers I might look into that I'm useless when it comes to that stuff plus being Eircom they normally block a lot of that behaviour , but I am hooked and want more.

My favorite shows on TV at the moment would be the Following, Breaking Bad and now The Walking Dead.

Oh really might take a look so :), is that were it originated? Im a newbie to The Walking Dead, only started watching last week because it was on Sky Demand and had heard so many people talking about it, I now get the hype.

Yeah it comes from the comics. It's a similar story but obviously it's been tweaked for TV. I watched the first season of the show and tbh it didn't sell me. The characters are fleshed out better in the comics.

You can pick up the compendium which is the first 50 odd in one book in Easons. Well worth a read.

EDIT : FYI Daryl is not in the comics. This appears to be a big deal for people that have watched the show first.

You also check the Telltale game. It's set in the same universe but has it's own story. It will cause tears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭FoxyVixen

Was going to say the same thing bout Daryl. He originally auditioned for the Sheriffs part I think and they liked him so much, they created a character for him :) Something which I am VERY thankful for :)
