Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What are you expecting to see from this game, and what improvements do you hope will be made?

They reckon it will be released around October 2011, with SI making an announcement in August and the demo around September.

at this stage I honestly dont know what they can do to improve it, I dont want them wasting more time on a match engine when I pay bugger all attention to it, I love the game at the moment and am more than happy to just have the updated squads every year to be honest!

I dont want to pay €40 for the game, then wait 3 months for a patch to fix all the issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,543 ✭✭✭✭CSF

I still think there is a good bit they can do to make the game more realistic, I agree that the match engine isn't really a priority at all anymore. Fine as it is.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,941 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

Maybe an upgrade to the match engine.
Wouldn't mind if they didnt do anything to it at the same time tho. Not that big of a deal.

More intense beta testing. To me it seems like they put **** all effort into testing FM11 considering all of its problems.

More options for team talks/press conferences. Too boring and predictable.

Pretty sure I'll think of more stuff later on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    Proper AI squad building
    Improve implementation of Agents
Press Conferences generally are boring and mundane ****e talk for managers but it does need more options in the game.
Improve how coaches work at a club (make it more than just about training ratings)

Most of what they have to do is clean out the existing bugs rather than tack on completely new features that have been half tested.

    No glaring faults on release.

I won't be getting it anyway, I tend to get it every second year.

Improved Press conferences and better team talks during the matches. Both of them are fairly poor.

    All i ask for is:

improved ai transfers-just limit the activity, too much signings happen imo.
improved squad building-should be a management stat, obviously some managers will be shocking at building a squad but its not exactly rocket science. if a player retires(like scholes irl) it should be like a big deal of who they get to replace them, with a particular player highlighted.

they should make a bigger deal out of transfers 2, like messi signed for city for 72 mill and barely a word was said about it.

director of football-a dof should happen in the game-targets players and gives you a list of players for certain positions

oh and improve MLS please, the ****ness of ai becomes apparent when managing here. they should allow u edit wage cap(and also stuff like how much it increases every so often) and allow u to edit expansion teams for a certain date and also have a few random expansions every so often

    Fix injurys!

3 consective games, 3 times a player has been injured EXACTLY on 4 mins.

I find having to buy extra players just to compensate.
3 season in and each season a player has broken a leg leaving them out for the season (Usually a pretty good player to)

Like I said previously, the 11.3 patch screwed up the injury frequencies and put them way too high.

Anyway, I've uploaded my database fix

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6Q9JZ9JK

Only downside is you'd have to start a new game

I did take note and thanks for that. I just cant bring myself to start a new game just yet!

I'd like to not have to trawl through the editor to get things fixed

Or have to delete files in order to have the real German and Japanese teams... took me ages to find how to get them

And to follow up on Dempsey's post, realistic squad building. The amount of shite players playing for the best teams and the lack of depth is terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,941 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

Teams shouldn't have 40 players in their team if you can only register 25.

I would be so happy if I could get the 01-02 game with updated transfers.

    That game was epic.

This website has a nice list of changes which could appear in the 2012 version.

    http://www.fmscout.com/a-football-manager-2012-new-features-suggested.html

Some pretty neat stuff. As for the release date it's usually around the second or Third week in October I thought. Looking forward to getting stuck in to Liverpool.

bad list no mention of improving the worst part of the game, the management ai.

One thing I noticed was that you are unable as a club manager to go watch other matches, to scout players.
You often see at the start a match " _______ has been spotted in the stands today"
I know you can watch matches as an international manager but not as a club manager which I think should be added.

Unless of course you can and I have been ignorant to it all this time :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,116 ✭✭✭starviewadams

Haven't liked any of the new FM games and I'm still playing the 07 version!

I'm a dinosaur I know, maybe, just maybe,if 2012 gets good reviews I might buy and actually play it for a decent amount of time!

07 was a pretty good game actualy

    @FootballManager Football Manager
We are proud to announce that Football Manager 2012 will be released before Xmas 2011, and have today revealed a handful of the over 800 new features in the game this year – for more info, see http://bit.ly/29jafC #FM12

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 937 ✭✭✭Diddy Kong

Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season - meaning you don’t have to decide on which nations are playable at the start of your career.

I have been waiting for a feature like that for years. Pet hate of mine was that the leagues you loaded at the start, you were stuck with them. Always nice to add a new league in for a change in a long game.

    Looking forward to it now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,112 ✭✭✭Blowfish

Indeed, especially useful for if you end up managing at international level for a country where you don't have the league selected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

800 new features, how many actually will work when the game is released? 5....

You go on a 8 or 9 game win streak, you lose one game and then suddenly your team plays like a pub team for the match after that. Needs to stop.

I'm sure I have an old copy of FM at home (maybe 2009/2010 ish). Reckon I'll have to start it up, what would be nice would be a way to export from old version to new one so you can keep your class team and also enjoy the improvements in game...

I wish they would just spend more time fixing it before releasing it as its a nightmare to play until they release patches

Sadly very true... I even waited until December to buy 2011 so they'd have time to fix it... but by jaysus the next patch after that drove me up the wall.

Will consider delaying my purchase again though.

This may be last chance saloon for FM with me. MAY buy this one but more than likely wont.

Just a heads up... amazon have FM2012 for pre-order at £26.91 which works out at around thirty odd euro

    Cant wait for FM12!

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭purpleblaa

Starting to wonder if I'll bother with this one. I have all the others but it seems like it takes over my life when I play it. Plus I can't understand why there are always so many bugs and why they think we should be ok with waiting around for patch after patch.
Think I'll wait till there are some reviews before I purchase.

I'm stopping playing FM 11 on September 30 to have a few weeks off to actually have a life, before I plow in to FM 12 and no life again with full enthusiasm

Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season - meaning you don’t have to decide on which nations are playable at the start of your career.

Transfers & Contracts – significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren't prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives.

Scouting improvements – using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report was devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season.

3D Match Improvements – new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras - "Behind Goal" and "Director Cam" as well as all other camera angles being reversible - meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game.

Intelligent Interface – a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens.

Tone – a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things – be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 5 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone.

Just so you know. You need an internet connection to activate Football Manager.

Activation will be done through Steam. Regardless of whether you purchase from Steam or by disc from a shop. You need Steam installed to Activate the license online.

You can turn Steam to offline mode once it's activated. But it must be running before you can launch FM12.

All Patches will be done through Steam. So you need to activate your Steam to online mode so you can update the patches.

Steam is now a requirement for playing FM12 along with an internet connection to Activate the game. Once activated you can go offline, but Steam must still be running.

im nt a fan of steam but i still run fm through it due to handiness with updates
cant wait to get the new fm nw, since im nw doing nothing i have all day to play it,

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭raglinroad

Yeh I'm the same. Never had an issue with Steam. But others have. I think they're going to release a blog about what Steam is and solve issues and stuff. I'll keep yas posted on any updates for the blog if yas want.

It looks promissing though. A lot of cosmetic updates, less clicking and stuff. Which is all god. More centralised interface too, no going to 3 or 4 different screens to get a job done.

There's a few nice new features too.

    Can't wait.

Release date circa. 21st October :D

I had a sudden urge to play Total Club Manager. I downloaded TCM 2004. I love the detail in went into :D

Building your facilities, and seeing them. You could see what you had, like the medical centre was either an ambulance or a huge complex with hospitals WITH gyms :D Even the advertising boards you could change yourself or leave to your finance dudes. You could decide to take all your players to a restaurant if you wanted!! You could end up with a happier squad or some suffering with food poisoning :P You could control what your manager was doing on the sidelines, whether it was screaming at them or entertaining the crowd, telling subs to warm up or even sitting down looking bored!! These are somethings I miss in football managing games.

So I need an internet connection everytime I want a game of FM2012 :( or is it just at the initial installation stage? I tend to give it a blast to kill time on long journeys home on the bus, if i cant get a signal am I then f*cked??

This might just put me off picking it up.

Nah your grand, this is a summary they released of the activation for FM 12
    In summary:
    • You need to connect to the internet to activate Football Manager 2012 on PC and Mac before you start playing it
    • To activate you will need to sign up to, and install the Steam client
    • Once you have activated Football Manager 2012 you can then play it in Steam's "offline mode" - meaning you do not have to be connected to the internet to play
    • Saved games are stored locally on your machine, but you can play Football Manager on any machine by signing into Steam and selecting it from your purchased games
    • Staying connected to Steam will mean Football Manager 2012 is automatically updated with any patches or data updates released

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭DonegalBonz

Nice one, I was thinkin it might just need to connect at installation.

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭raglinroad

Nah you don't need an internet connection to play. You will need Steam running though. As that's where the activation is stored.

You can switch Steam to offline mode to play on the go or simply if you don't like being online with Steam.

    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3160-AGCB-2555

As always there will be times when software just doesn't work. If you're having issues with Steam I highly recommend chatting with their online support about any issues.
