Seat had to pay Porsche a royalty for every sticker they put on a car,

    Roughly €3.50 per car.

Thanks for that Colm. I asked him about the change of ownership and he says he is a dealer - obviously not a real one but he did have a couple of cars for sale this week on dondeal. Not a deal breaker....but still, fingers crossed tightly!

I have one of those bluetooth obd devices that connects to my phone. Is it acceptable to plug that in while looking at a car for sale?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭marketty

Long time lurker and fan of bangernomics my first attempt at posting something worthy!

    Thoughts?

Obviously ask before you do. If he says no then I would walk away.

Let us know how you get on. I really like them but been advised to steer well clear. Heavy on fuel and expensive parts. One bloke told me it was like entering a marriage and there was a reason why so many low mileage ones are for sale!
If you get a goodun, happy days but a bit of a lottery

That's on UK plates and IMO something seriously up with it. Just way too cheap.

He has two of them for sale. Same price. Both ads state "May suit export..."

Eyes wide open on these ones folks!

Anyway, not sure if I would pay max tax (€1,809) to get a lame V6?

I'd get the diesel version or a 500 myself, yeah.

Still it's a lot of car for the money. Carsireland says everything is genuine and only 2 owners.

Long may it last. Did you get a mechanic to check it?

Best of luck with it. I love SAABs - they are smashing.
How much did you end up paying?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,077 ✭✭✭percy212

Paid 1800 which I thought was fair given the year and low milage. No mechanic. Just cartell, ncts.ie and motortax.ie, and a fairly solid checking out by myself. Keeping it forever no matter what happens. Its a work of art!

Wow you are brave!. Seriously though, pre book an AA check for piece of mind you don't want to die in the thing!

I learnt the hard way. HAD to have a black golf gti, paid 2k for it, all looked grand, drove great. Brother in law took it to a mechanic and it got it up on the ramps, all sorts of problems, death trap and wouldn't pass any test.
Went through the small claims court got my money back but took a year and in drips and drabs. I needed a car so ended up with a MK1 cavalier as it was all I could afford by then.
I know you are on a high, but......!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,077 ✭✭✭percy212

I know...I know....a bit reckless :o Yep, I had to have it there and then.

I will take it to my mechanic tomorrow for a full inspection. I drove about 80km in it on the way home without issue so to my mind its perfect. Heh heh (no buyers remorse here yet).

Thanks for the advice. I will get it checked out and get a full service done.

I wouldn't call it reckless, for €1800. Get your mechanic to give it the once over and keep it well serviced. Not sure if that engine suffers from the sludge issue or not. Other posters on here have the correct dates and engines that it affects. I hope it works out for you.
Its a lovely motor for relatively small money.

This engine does not have sludge. This is an opel (GM) engine that SAAB used in the 9-3 after 2002.

due to the fact that i had to get a wheelchair acess vehicle, my 01 passat estate redi is for sale, i got it last dec and i have babyed it, the tax is up at the end of nov, tested until june, i think the milage is around 177k, i never went over 60 in it, my milage would be around 6k for the year, it was imported in 06 i think, i am the second owner since. no pics as yet due to 0.12 broadband upload, its nice and clean, needs a valet, and the air directional thingy above the radio, sound system, and climate control, no skylight which is a pity imo, had the fuel and air filter changed last month, the oil and filter for the test, any one interested let me know.
