Poor baby Aonb, they always feel like our babies don't they regardless of how old they are.

Hope he continues to enjoy life as he is, keep spoiling him and loving him. Thats all we can do sometimes isn't it. It's the one thing that gives me comfort is knowing how much rusty was loved and spoiled and boy did he know it:-)

Some days I could just swing for people:mad: Now I know that a lot of people don't like cats but our next door neighbours don't like any animals at all, especially our cats:confused: They have a concrete back and front garden, so there's nothing for our cats to pee or poop in and the cats don't spray in there either.

Our cats like to sit on the front wall in the evening and watch the world go by, it's a dividing 5 foot wall, and every bloody time she sees one of the cats sitting on the wall that divides our gardens she's out clapping her hands at them and shouting at them. I've caught her twice in the past 7 days and I finally just gave her a piece of my mind last night. Not that it made the slightest bit of difference.

I think what really annoys me the most is that they are a very noisy heavy drinking family who often have large groups of people around drinking until the early hours of the morning, so we're listening to people running up and down the stairs, door slamming and usually a couple of hours of rebel songs being sung before it ends.

I hate it as we're a quiet couple who like a quiet life but it's generally over by about 2am so we just grin and bear it. So it really fcuks me right off that she has this thing with harassing my cats.

I always tell people who say they don't like cats that they must like rats then.:D (In a jokey sarky nice way of course!) I thank my lucky stars that my neighbours have them and there's ferels in the farm across the road. We're in a lovely position of rarely having rats about, and we've got cropland in the fields directly beside/behind us.

Pumpkinseeds, if you ever have to give her a piece of your mind again, you could tell her that if you have to put up with her noisy parties, she cant complain about your cats sitting on the dividing wall :( As long as shes just shooing your cats, I suppose thats the important thing. (I never cease to be thankful I dont have neighbours!!)

A little bit of give and take goes a long way.

My poor uncle, who only has 2 cats of his own but feeds about 6 ferals or strays (often more but not same ones every day), has found one of the cats had a litter of kittens.
They are related to our beautiful late cat, Mouse. all grey and maybe fluffy like her too.
I really can't take any more in, but I have agreed to help him home them if he can keep them safe and tame them. The mothers he is hoping to get trapped and neutered, hes paid for 6 or more to be spayed in the last 3 years, but can't afford to do this anymore.
We are sure these cats and many more are owned by someone but left off or dumped. They are fine big cats mostly but very skinny when they turn up, just wish we knew where they were coming from :(

The dogs are absolutely panned out asleep on their new memory foam beds (only €8 each in penneys guys ;) ), They needed new beds because a certain sprollie named Alli decided to pee on the other ones and I had to throw them out because I couldn't get the smell out of them! The beds are great though the hairs just fall off them and because theres rubber on the bottom they don't slide around the floor which is pretty handy because Allie loves to run and jump onto hers :D

Well I think we'll be having a quiet day today - we went to the darkness into light walk in the Phoenix park this morning. The dogs thought I was mad when I told them to get up at 2:30 :p - when I eventually got Bailey up he just ran down the stairs to the crate in the kitchen and jumped in lol!! They were very good and walked really well with loose leads - unlike my friend's dog who dragged them around the 5k course!

What is the darkness into light walk... sounds mysterious.... or is it just the fact you get up early and finish the walk at dawn, which would be very disappointing!!

That's exactly what it is, it's for suicide awareness, sponsored by pieta house, so moving from the darkness into the light both literally and metaphorically! Really wanted to do it this year but I had work at 8am so would be passed out on the ground!!

That's what it is. It's organised for the charity pieta house. I guess it represents coming through mental health issues and out the other side, into the light.

    Was there many there tk123?

Yeah it was AMAZING how many people were there! I live by the Botanic Gardens so about 10-15 mins from the park..flew up in the car thinking we were great then bang - cars everywhere! :p Anwyays we parked and walked down, collected our tshirts and were at the start point before 4:00. Some of the stewards were (imo) a bit abrupt with us telling us to go to the side/back/keep the dogs on short leads which they were already on:rolleyes:..but my friend's OH wanted to see the start so we walked up to the start line and kept to the path (they were all on the road) to see them cutting the ribbon etc and away we went. Once it got brighter all you could see ahead of you and behind was the yellow tshirts :) I took some photos but they're all a bit crap and blurry :( but if you look at this one I took when we finished you can make out the line of yellow tshirts in the distance. It was great - a really good atmosphere and nice relaxing walk with Bailey and Lucy and great opportunity for socialisation ! Don't think my friend will do it again next year because they were annoyed that the dog was pulling so much - he doesn't need to be trained :roll eyes:

I'm absolutely STARVING now though even though I had McDonalds pancakes at 6:15 :p:p

Wow there was loads. I wonder how it went down here.

    Well done to your two!

I think you deserve a foodie day today after being up so early. :)

E8 sounds good - when did you buy them? Picture? Size? (I avoid Penneys like the plague, but for an E8 bed, I might be tempted!)

    I volunteer at a rescue a couple days/week.
There is a dog in the shelter that has my heart broken - I cant get him out of my head - I think he has to come home with me, but I cant bring him home with Pepper on borrowed time, so Im hoping that no one will rescue him until I can have him, but couldnt not let him be rehomed if someone comes along - he is so sad and not suited to not having a human :( but when Pepper goes, I dont know if I can bear to get another dog, but our young dog is not a solitary type.

There is also the ugliest little terrier type there too - he is so so ugly but another little heart-breaker and a gorgeous personality - he so needs a home too - its funny how an incredibly ugly dog can sometimes be more endearing because he is so ugly?!?

When frankie died i didnt want another dog at all and to be honest i didnt particularly want alli but my dad needed to get out exercising again so he needed a larger dog who could tolerate bad weather and mud (both a huge NO in moones world!) And when we arrived to pick up alli from the rescue i loved her straight away. I felt terrible and guilty for frankie but alli is not a replacement even if their personalities are strangely similar. Now i wouldnt change her for the world. Take the time to grieve for pepper when he goes but you will eventually be able to love another dog just the same :)

We got caught up the mountains in torrential rain today. We were walking along, it was dry, all of a sudden it got really dark and we could hear heavy rain hitting the trees to the right of us, like a really loud whooshing sound. It caught up with us. It was easily the heaviest rain I've ever been in. Within seconds we were soaked through, trails of water running down my back under my clothes. We decided to keep going rather than shelter because it was so dull, we were miles from the car and already wet.

Harley loved it, Phoe was grumbling under his breath, he looked so fed up. haha.

But the best bit - it was like the deer couldn't hear us coming, or just didn't care. We saw 5 of the, two on their own on the path, standing there looking at us and a group of 3, huddled under the trees like ghosts. It was fabulous.

We're all so tired now.

Eurovision seemed to cause a feline war in our house last night. For some reason Jazzy chose last night during Eurovision to decide that he'd had enough of Poppy being a, well there's no way around it really, a domineering little bitch:D. She ran at him, again and he fluffed out the floor, ridge up on his back and went after her repeatedly.

This of course led to a 'discussion' between Mr P and I about them being as bad as each other, he seems to think Poppy is some weak and feeble little victim, when in fact she pushes Jazzy every single day and he's a little sweetheart for not having slapped her already. We kept them both seperated and Jazzy was very agitated, which is really strange for him. Did she learn?, did she Hell:rolleyes:

Before we all went out for a walk this morning I had my dad drop Bailey up to my friend to see what how he'd react to him leaving him.. 10-15 mins later I pull up to the house get out to silence! No hysterical barking and nobody in the garden looking stressed waiting for me. I rang the bell and my friend opens the door and tells me everything was fine then produces her phone with about 20 photos of him on the phone running amok in the house investigating everything lol!! Their bedroom where she open the curtains so he could look out the window, the bathroom, up on the couch in the front room, up on the couch in the kitchen beside her OH etc etc The shame - like a bold child lol! :p

    Im sick of vets!!!

Pepper is *flying* though, so I shouldnt complain - (hes been on steriod/anti-inflammatories since last wednesday) - :) Actually we've been spoiling him so badly since the scan that hes turning into a treat-monster & is starting to give us filthy 'get-offa-me' looks :D

So relieved brought meg (nearly 15) for full check up this morning because her back legs are very stiff and she's really slowed down last few weeks. Vet couldn't get over how healthy she is. Heart and lungs are perfect. Just bit of arthritis in her hips so she's on metacam. Did bloods just in case but she didn't think anything will show up. Can't stop smiling since we got out :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,635 ✭✭✭Pumpkinseeds

Poppy is a funny little cat. She's so much smaller than the 3 males and yet she rules the roost, she reminds me of a little rottweiler when she runs around, I think it's the little stumpy tail and the way she puts her head down when she runs:D

I think she must have been hit at some point in her life though, sometimes I'll be absently mindedly doing something while she's beside me and she'll lash out at my hand. When I look I'll notice that my hand was in a fist shape and she looks furious when this happens. She also doesn't like raised voices, even if we're just chatting or laughing loudly she comes and jumps on my lap and starts meowing at me in an agitated way:(

Thats great! What a relief! I wish you many more healthy years with Meg. Post a pic?

I was out walking with the dogs this a.m - Pepper is 16, and I met a neighbour who I hadnt seen for years (!) Her terrier is 15 & cant go for walks any more, has to be lifted onto the sofa/chairs etc. I was very proud of my old warrier trotting along with his crocked bladder/liver/kidneys

Brought Kayla to the vet last night as she has something irritating her paw- while I was there, I asked them to express her glands and the vet felt something he wasn't happy about. I have to take her in for sedation tomorrow so they can see what it is, but the word tumour was mentioned :(

Fingers crossed it's just a cyst or something :(

I wouldn't normally be so worried before I know anything, but my best friend's dog has terminal cancer and she and I have an awful habit of having the same stuff happening in our lives, side by side.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,277 ✭✭✭aonb

fingers crossed for you that its nothing to worry about - you will know tomorrow at least. Its horrible waiting and not knowing. Keep us posted

Dude's 3rd eyelid keeps coming across his eyes over the past couple of days. I can't figure out what's wrong with him, he seems okay in every other way besides the incontinence. He's a constant mystery!
