why, how could they possibly as bad as Fianna Fail, Fine Gael or Labour, who have decimitated this country.

I don't agree with everything the ULA say but for the most part i would, and i think they'll increase their vote next time.

Unfortunately irish people being so stupid will vote one of the main partys in again and we'll just have more of the same.

Is he worse than Jack Lynch, Liam Cosgrave, John Bruton or Charlie Haughey?

Yes i think he would be, maybe not Haughey but the rest id say definitely.

Irish people are stupid, they'll probably vote FF in next term, a vicious merry go round and nothing changes insteaf of giving someone like United Left Alliance a chance, they might not have all the answers but they could not possibly any worse than the last lot or this current lot.

It's a shocking pity that the thickos who make up the Plain People of Ireland aren't as enlightened and perceptive as you. Radical socialism is the magic bullet Ireland needs at the moment.

If Irish people are so stupid then they get what they deserve... I don't believe they are.

There is too much voter apathy which causes the same old parties to get in time and again. If people really cared about who ran the country they would vote for a party who believed in the same things they do - in my case the UAL do not reflect my political views so I will not vote for them even to give them a chance. I will vote for someone who does hold similar views and values to me.

If you think having views that differ from yours makes me stupid then that is your problem.

Stupid isn't the word but this is what happens in a massively conservative country. Harder to get fellows out of power than in, it's the same in our major institutions and even our sports teams.
If the years of austerity and white collar crime hasn't swayed people away from that I'm not sure anything will.

Though we'll never know unless a credible alternative party forms, SF will never be that party.

Yeah and austerity and capatilism has been fantastic for this country right, Ireland is positively booming.

Time for people to get their head out of the sand and wake the fu*k up, these parasites have ruined the country, despite the nonsense in the media about how "Ireland is on the road to recovery" young and old alike are emigrating in their droves, people in negative equity and unemployment as high as ever (despite trying to cleverly mask the figures)

Call me crazy but i prefer Ireland now then say i say 2004 when it was too big for its boots..people are more sensible now and appreciate the value if money where as in 2004 it was chaos. People didnt know how to handle money & the country was heading down a dangerous road..a road with pot holes, broken traffic lights & a no right turn sign.

Relatively so, it is. Standards of living in Ireland have never been higher than the past 15 years. I think a lot of people don't realise how **** things used to be.

Eamo De Valera worth a shout?

Arguably one of the worst IMO. Our economic, religious and social stagnation in the mid 20th century can be directly apportioned to him.

Well, at least you resisted the urge to call us sheeple, or to use the 'country was raped' analogy.

    That's progress I suppose.

Maybe for you they are but for thousands of others, myself included it's the complete opposite.

I'm not talking anecdotally here. It's a fact that Ireland is doing relatively well as a country in many key metrics. Its unfortunate that things are difficult for yourself and for many others, but the country really isn't the disaster you're trying to make out: http://www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org/countries/ireland/

Irish people have a tendency to be over dramatic, things are good in Ireland but people make it sound like its the end of the world..Even in the boom we had people who werent well off & who were stuggling to get by. Its called life, not everyone becomes a success & makes it. They dont make things happen for themselves, dont have the drive and determination to succeed in life & expect someone to knock on the door and make all there problems go away.. These are the ones who piss & moan about the country & its Government.im not stupid, im aware people lost there jobs & cant make ends meet or pay for there over priced house but thats the gamble you take in life. Life is a gamble, nobody knows whats around the corner. Imo i think the country is being run good and proper now

Despise Fianna Fail but Lemass was a man of vision

He also had decent and intelligent public servants like TK Whitaker.

Should refer to the original post for my reasons.. But your entitled to your opinion if you dont agree, im sure you have your reasons as to why you think it isnt. Were both different people who probably live different lives & government decisions most likely effect us differently

People on welfare complaining about their welfare cut yet still have money on the lash, unemployed families getting tons of social welfare and a house. Only people that are really suffering is the people who have a huge mortgage and lost there job. There I'd nothing that can be done about that. People been far too greedy taking out huge loans instead of getting a smaller property.

Well done Mr. Kenny on saving Ireland and making the cuts that had to be made. If Biffo was still in charge during the recession Ireland would be bankrupt. Some people are too thick to see he is doing a great job. These people want their welfare doubled.

One of the actual worst ever in my opinion, maybe not quite as bad as Biffo or Bertie but not far away, shocking.

Anyone who thiniks otherwise needs their head examined.

Irish people are stupid, they'll probably vote FF in next term, a vicious merry go round and nothing changes insteaf of giving someone like United Left Alliance a chance, they might not have all the answers but they could not possibly any worse than the last lot or this current lot.

The ULA has broken up into its constituent micro-groups, all of whom have more of an interest in fighting with each other than in putting forward policy. Whatever about FF, FG, Labour and even SF - the far-left (just like the far right) are nuts...

Thankfully most Irish people see that

That's like saying we should put Rob Ford in the Taoiseach's office because hey, how could he be as bad as FF, FG or Labour?

They mightn't be as bad, likely they would be a lot worse. Try living in a country that has actually been decimated and that faces real, systemic problems like war and famine. We have it pretty good here, on average

I don't know about the greatest ever Taoiseach but he's been a better Taoiseach that I imagined he would be.

You reckon eh, you try telling that to people who have lost their jobs, homes and people forced to emigrate because there is no work here, some people may think it's good but these are the people who weren't really affected by the recession in general.

You cant compare Ireland to a country where there is war and famine right now, although we've had our fair share of that in the past.

I actually despair for some people in this country, this country needs to be like Greece where the masses converged on the streets, people here love a good moan but nothing is ever actually done.

How much did they spend on tea and biscuits again lately?
Maybe if he started cutting unneeded expenses like that we would recover quicker instead of increasing taxes on people who had nothing to do with the meltdown and are getting by on the bare minimum.
Its pointless comparing him to the fool before him,me or you would have done a better job

I don't like the fact he won't debate. He may be ok at his job but it's impossible to get a take on someone without seeing them in an honest debate every so often. I think it's often clear who's talking honestly and who's constantly pausing to think of PC answers or avoiding questions.
