Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Next weeks episode has Rich Hall, Sarah Millican and Humphrey Ker.
Doesnt sound like a good lineup at all.

Sarah Millican can be funny, but her voice is so grating, it's hard to laugh when she makes a funny.

I've seen patio doors with better comedy material, than Millican.

The same crap jokes about her boyfriend don't do it for you?

    Frequent alright
"I have a boyfriend... we have sex.... joke joke joke"

Or mabey it just seems frequent due to my disbelief that she has one.

Really enjoyed that. The guy in dictionary corner was no good but everything else was near perfect.
    And Rachel is disgustingly beautiful.:)

    Rich Hall must've been awful.

Neither Rich nor the two contestant guests added anything tonight.

    It was a bit flat.

    Still, Rachel looked well :)

Sh*t guests tonight, hate Sarah Millican even more now.
The bit with the ageing cream was genius though.

That Humphrey Ker fellow had nothing to add either.

He was also the worst at the game itself.

I enjoyed it. I didn't think that Sarah Millican was half as annoying as usual and I liked the scrabble song.

Humphrey Ker please think up a new persona please

Ah here, more Sarah Millican this week
Jimmy Carr hosts the comedy panel show's version of the famous quiz, with team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson joined by guests Sarah Millican and Chris Ramsey. Countdown regular Susie Dent is in Dictionary Corner with comedy hip-hop act Abandoman, while Rachel Riley provides the letters and numbers with a little help from Joe Wilkinson. Last in the series

Much like the actual 8 out of 10 cats programme - Jimmy, Sean and Jon are usually very good but they are being let down by the guests. You would think they could get more high profile (and better) guests to show up.

Can't stand Sarah Millican. She's just not funny. I just started watching and got to the Scrabble song. It was actually pretty damned good.

This is so much better than 8 out of 10 cats. I nearly even like Jimmy Carr because of it!!

Joe as the magician was on top form

I thought they'd get someone like David O' Doherty on. I imagine he'd actually be quite good at the game itself. I enjoy Danny Dyer too, even though he's ridiculous. The episode I saw with him, he was actually pretty good at the letters game.

Is the episode tonight a repeat?

The sky epg says Sarah Millican is on?

He was on before in "Dictionary Corner" AFAIK.

I mentioned to my wife that she is on my "celebs I can do" list.

Also... The two Irish guys were pretty good.

I never laugh out loud when watching stuff by myself for some reason, but I actually howled at that! :D

countdown kid was funny, but my favourite bit was the last numbers game, chris got all excited because he thought he had solved the problem, then jon just looks over his shoulder and sees where he's wrong, instant deflation.

and of course - steady on old bean

+1 on the Irish guys. Rachel is amazing at the numbers. Makes any equation look simple.

They give the answer, and the numbers to use to get the answer. It's not that hard, most of the time.

The Target number in Countdown proper is completely random and bears no connection to the chosen numbers. If neither player can get a solution then the one nearest the Target number but still within 10 of it gets Half points.

On "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown" the numbers round is completely dumbed down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,069 ✭✭✭Tzar Chasm

I don't think the numbers rounds are changed in any way from 'original format' countdown.

are you implying that once the numbers are drawn someone rigs the random number generator to make it solveable

I think jon is just genuinely good at the game

Typically I get a little over half of the numbers game answers. In this version of countdown, I usually get it before the clock starts. Extremely dumbed down.

This is by far one of the best programmes on television. Although I will say that it was much funnier in the beginning than it is now, but it's still great.

The episode with Joe in Dictionary Corner is absolutely hilarious. I think Jimmy is a brilliant host on this as well.

I'm completely in love with Jon Richardson as well (my obsession is going on a few years now!) and the first episode with him doing Countdown was brilliant, he was so chuffed to be getting to do the show and got all dressed up in a suit and everything- definitely if people have missed the earlier episodes, try and catch them for real belly laughs.

theres occasional easy ones in the countdown too

The numbers are random and it depends on how many big numbers you choose most often. You should be able to get most if your only big number is 75 imo.

The inability of normal contestants on Countdown to do the numbers (outside of Champions v Champions type series) is staggering.

On one of the episodes, they had 4 big and 2 small, when joe hit the button, 175 popped up, he says 'f that', presses it again and 175 appears again. I thought that was a big dodgy, seems like its picked in advance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

That was the last in the series, but there will be another '80s themed' 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown on September 20th as part of Channel 4's 80s weekend.

Before anyone suggests anything, I was talking about Rachel. :p

Oh I dunno, Jon's would be far more appealing to me personally ;)

Two more episodes of this being filmed next week so I'm sure they'll be shown some time in mid- Autumn. Yeay!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,963 ✭✭✭Meangadh

Next episode on Friday 13th September. It'll have Bob Mortimer and Adam Hills as guests- they should be great!

There's also going to be one coming up soon that has an 80s theme as part of an 80s night on Channel 4 to celebrate when the station started. I dunno what that'll mean but sounds fun!

Really appreciate Adam Hills a lot more since he started doing 'The Last Leg'..

.. incredible funny live wit, as has Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker.

But I then saw him hosting some horrendous Northern Irish panel show with Neil Delamere on the BBC... not good at all!

Oh, the 80's Weekend is the weekend of the 20th September - 22nd September.
