well the hacker storyline will still run next year id say
Means more Amy Acker which is not a bad thing. :D

There's also the storyline about what happened Finch's former partner after selling the machine

ZOMG best episode yet. This show just keeps getting better. And Amy Acker - bonus!! The hotel chase sequence was outstanding, great tension in it.

EP 23 was the season finale - boo!

Am I the only person who thinks that Amy Acker (had no clue of her name until now) is irritating and somewhat grating to watch and listen to?

To me, her addition to the cast is a definite negative

    Yep, you are. :p (joke)

I suppose I'm a fan from her days as Fred in Angel, as most who like her probably are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,711 ✭✭✭squonk

I never watched Angel and really only came to know her from PoI this week. I think she'll definitely by my Person Of Interest next season... boom boom!

Great episode! I really loved the piece with Reese and Fusco and the other cop chasing the guys in the car where Reese detonated the bomb! Brilliant!

Great episode,it's not often a series comes along with such a simple premise that manages to keep you hooked & looking forward to the next episode.

john told the machine harold was in trouble, and it was the machines fault, so the machine contacted john by phone,

That bit I actually found a bit hard to take! I really hope this isn't the big Jump the Shark moment for PoI. I assume that the 'machine' is an operator of some sort? The fact that John wasn't even talking into a phone but to a surveillance camera was a bit silly IMHO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

No, it’s been repeatedly stated that the machine is completely autonomous with no human intervention whatsoever as that’s the only way of keeping it from being used for bad things by the government so that rules out any human operators.

As far as speaking into a CCTV camera goes, well this is a machine thats capable of monitoring any form of communication in real-time so speaking to the camera isn’t exactly “out there” – in fact previous scenes showed the machine POV monitoring Harold & John on the street via CCTV and we hear what they say. On top of that the machine has previously demonstrated an interest in keeping the administrators safe so it makes sense that it would be willing to assist someone whos attempting to save the administrator. My guess is this is exactly the sort of contingency Harold mentioned in a previous episode should anything happen to him.

Also as we've also seen the machine assesses risks to itself and so with Finch being taken, that's a risk it'll want to resolve.

Those are good points but I'm starting to get a whiff of Lost at this point which is making me edgy.

I wasn't so sure about this show at the beginning, but I just did the last 4 episodes in a row and I'm into it now. It's starting to get interesting, whereas before it felt too MOTW for me and didn't seem to be going anywhere. I still think Caviezel is overacting it though.

Just finished up watching it tonight. What a season. It's definitely up there with my favourite TV shows this year. Can't wait for the second season.

Catching up with this while on holidays.

Great show.. but Caviezel is still dreadful.

Emerson is superb as always (particularly episode 19 when he's on E) but Caviezel ,it's almost like he have got lost somewhere between auditioning for Liam Neeson in Taken and Batman.

Carter and Fusco are both good.. despite Reese's constantly referencing Fusco's shady past despite how much he has helped them.

Great show.. but c'mon Caviezel, let's tone it down a tad in season 2.

I actually though Caveziel was great, he played the character exactly how it should have been done.

a great return, to bad we didnt get a bit of a lost reunion though, i was in stitches during the warehouse scene, and it was funny that john couldnt take down the big guy, and the tall guy in a suit description never seems to get old:D

its great to see how the machine works now, and it will be interesting to see what yerone has planned for it, its obviously self learning, but like she said finch took away its voice and locked it in a cage, i can see her character sticking around for a few seasons,

Fantastic opening. Nice change of direction too.

That throw through the window was an amazing stunt (if it was real!)

Any idea when Season 2 will be on over here? My mam likes to watch it so if its on soon I wont have to bother my cousin in America with recording it for me.

I was pissed off when Bones pretty much undid the finale of last season so I was delighted to see Person of Interest do the opposite and actually keep the two main characters apart. I was worried they would be back together half way through the first episode. A lot of ways they can go if they keep them apart.

Fair play to John for remembering those password things. I wouldnt have a hope of remembering them! "Pick on someone your own size...... or..... closer to it...." was brilliant too :D

    Superb opening episode... loved it!

nice to see this back again, great opener, roll on next week!

  • Registered Users Posts: 159 ✭✭thegoodgirl

Great episode, instense, funny and full of John. Exactly why I love this show.

Loved Fusco realising that John and Carter are actually friends when he's just a pain for him. He seemed a bit jealous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

Agreed, a fantastic opener. Nice to see the new direction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,286 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

When I saw Leung in it I was thinking the computer just assumed all the cast of Lost know where each other is at all times.

Nice start. Better to have Fusco and Carter know about each other. All other series add new human cast members at the beginning of a season, Person of Interest likes to be different by adding a dog.

Amy Acker looks good. It's probably just the clothes and the hair, but she looks healthier and less fragile.

another solid episode, nice to see that root got away and we should be seeing more of that psycho bitch:D,

i do wonder though do the feds know where the machine is, cause by the looks of it they tracked it as it was shipped, or did they loose it at some point, either that or that guy just wanted to get more information out of finch while he had him, im actually surprised he tried to shoot finch he would have been an extremely valuable asset like,

also funny the two guys trying to get their gear back and reese "borrowing" their truck:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

That was a properly fantastic episode actually. Maybe one of the best of the show. The story, acting and pacing were all spot on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,032 ✭✭✭✭Basq

John just holding up the crossbow when the two lads came into the room! :D

Didn't see the Root twist either..

    D'oh! :(

Since it's an hour long show... they're unlikely to do a Modern Family and double-up next week!

I hope the guys getting thrown through windows motif is a new recurring one for this season. They've done it in two back to back episodes so far and it's great!

Amy Acker is just so cute when she's evil.

Just got last week's episode watched.

Was a pretty good episode. Nice investigating by John and he's always making friends. :)

Been avoiding this thread the last few days thinking it would have spoilers. Just went to watch and it wasnt even on this week  I hate the way American shows take breaks every few weeks. Fringe is awful for it.

Same again in ep.3, about 5 seconds in! A decent ep, nudging along the season arc in tandem with the victim/perp of the week.
