It actually takes a lot of effort.
I do it but I resent it.

It has to be done every 2-3 days and it's a large area to cover. Then there's the more precise areas like eyebrows, facial hair and bikini line which don't need to be done as often but need more time and care. The decisions to wax or bleach - the expense, the ingrown hairs, the razor burn.
It really is the biggest pain in the hole.
The point is that you do it though to look your best. In fairness you could save yourself a fortune by getting laser if you resent it that much. Every week there's 3/4 offers on groupon etc for laser hair removal.

No worries though, I think I've gleaned enough information from your reaction to my question.

Thanks for the chats. Take care.

If the sky fairy had wanted women to be hairless, they'd be (hmmmm) --- hairless and they'd all have what we call posliinipillu (porcelain pussy) in Finnish. That might be a good thing if it diverted the attention of paedophiles to older women.:):)

Any woman who allows this to happen is going to have a rough ride looking for a husband (not saying impossible btw).

Aw, I'm sure the woman in question, who has a long-term partner, is so, so scared.

society now...tells my boy mates to get buff, tatoos ,earrings and no body hair!!!! david beckhams fault

Depends on what social circles you move in, tattoos etc can make it difficult to get work for some people, but yeah in general your right, any recent American show has hairless men as the norm, even shows like Spartacus set in a time when men, slaves etc would undoubtedly have been hairy.

Personally I couldn't give a fig about female body hair, as long as they don't smell then I don't consider it a sign of bad personal hygine.

(warts and all)

    What's wrong with you people?!

    What's with the extreme reaction?

It's a sign of immaturity and the objectification of women. Nothing new and tediously predictable.

but there is no sky fairy, and I'm pretty sure that paedophilia has nothing to do with body hair.

I saw this woman on the Craig Doyle show. She unashamedly was sprouting furry bits from her under arm. I think this is absolutely grotesque. What sort of feminist goes to such lengths to make these points.

Anyway, would any men be will to go out with a women with a vast amount of under arm hair? Maybe I am sexist, and even though it is natural it makes me want to puke.

Can I ask you something? Are you male, and if so, do you shave your privates?
One of the biggest complaints I would have whenever going out with anyone would be sweaty, smelly, hairy balls. No woman likes to get pubic hair into her mouth.
Yet keeping this area "natural" seems to be perfectly natural for a lot of people.
So why get in a huff about someone's underarm hair?

I wouldn't let my hair grow out, but saying it's "vomitous" or "grotesque" or that it makes you sick is a bit much. It's just a personal choice. It's not like she's hurting anyone by doing it.

Whatever about women shaving/ waxing their legs, it's just weird when men do it. There should be a law against that kind of thing!

I knew it was general consensus, but I really can't believe how many people see female body hair, which naturally grows on post-pubescent women, as actually revolting. You can't stop it growing, FFS, and growing it is not a choice (shaving it off is the choice).

I am a woman in my late 20s. I do not shave my underarms or legs unless they're going to be on display. My OH doesn't mind, my Exes didn't mind, some even said that they found it sexier than going out with a hairless woman.

I decided to stop shaving when I realised that it was a battle that would never, never be won, and I decided to stop wasting resources on trying to hold back the tide for no good reason.

If a man refuses to have anything to do with a woman because she decides that she's comfortable with her natural body hair then 1) she's better off without him and 2) he should take the time to think about why he's disgusted by a woman's body growing hair in the same places that he doesn't shave.

If a man decided to let his beard grow no-one would label him as 'disgusting' or say that he wasn't grooming himself.

Body hair grows whether we like it or not, and whether you decide to let it grow or not is an individual choice, and if you don't like the choice someone has made then STFU and keep your nose out of their business.

It's not like she's growing a moustache or something, both genders have underarm hair, I don't see the problem with it as long as it's not a jungle.

Nah. Hairless feels and looks better.

    This ^

Off with legs, underarm, and coochie hair or I'd feel unclean. I've been doing that since I was about 16, and it's staying that way. I'll probably annoy people who aren't bothered by hair in those areas, but it just looks foul - in my opinion.

Excellent post. As I said above, it's down to immaturity and objectification of women. In fact, I'll go further - it's a deep seated fear of women and their bodies.

your of this culture. but here in the g.m.c....lots of different cultures. and many dont shave for whatever cultural significance. And to look at them you wouldnt know. no smells nothing..just people. but if i wanted to donn my mini dress.. id shave my legs....but after afew too many at the next fetival? could i be bothered? dont know. i m in this society too..hate having to shave , pluck, for fashion or deemed dirty.when i m totally clean.past experiences have told me to be freeee and roll around in mud...laugh and stay up alnight with mates, watch the sunrise. then sleep. our own particular upbringings make us have to conform and adhere...but i have to add.....the dirty stinky truly ewww ones, that have passed my nose on the train or a pub or the social outcast..have all been men. cant recall ever smelling a really stinky female...probably my own armpits...camped in a field...

True, but the only two reasons I can think of for women deciding to shave are
    1) To look younger. What females don't have leg, underarm, or pubic hair? Pre-pubescent females.
    2) Porn. It's much easier to get close ups in porn without all that hair in the way. Somehow this became normalised in society, probably because porn is now young men's first introduction to naked women, and because of that they don't think hair looks right.

Still not exactly high praise. That's like being voted the best looking person in the burns unit of a hospital.

    Excellent post.

Indeed, and for those who embrace the full female sensory experience, as mentioned, hair has the added benefit of acting as an "intimate scent trap"

That's probably enough to explode the heads of the disgusting /revolting brigade :)

No worries. You came across as defensive, more so than abrupt. I think a lot of men (those who have this extreme hatred of female hair) don't realise how conditioned they've been. I say that as a woman who has also been conditioned. Though I've been undoing as much of it as I can in my older years.

I wax my legs, because I like the feeling and look of silky smooth legs, but with waxing there has to be a period of growth, so there's something for the wax to grip, so there will be times there's hair there. I've never yet been with a man who has labelled me disgusting during those less than shiny smooth moments.

I found your comments curious, and wanted to know a bit more about how you divided what men should do to be considered 'well groomed' and what women should do.

For me, a man who reacts with borderline hysteria, as is illustrated on this thread, towards women that aren't permanently shaven and shorn, demonstrate more to me than their personal likes and dislikes on the subject of body hair - it's a snapshot into their basic beliefs about women, and not one I find favour with.

You wouldn't go out with me, because occasionally I'm not permanently 'groomed' - and I wouldn't go out with you (even on those occasions I am 'groomed') because your rigid views on 'what women should do' could possibly run deeper, and into scary territory eventually. Hope that makes sense - almost lunchtime and I'm starving, mightn't have expressed that as well as I could do. :)

Fair enough! I think it's irrational to be terrified of it, but I personally feel that it's harder to maintain hygiene with a full bush and underarm hair- the rest of just cosmetic
