I was just about to say that the way guile works might means he is suited to Yun destruction.

    FFS. Broken character!

I can't believe people are judging things on mirror matches......as we all know, these are generally beyond supreme gayness.

People will cop onto Yun soon enough, otherwise Capcom will patch him...

From the way I'm interpreting it, this only seems to be glaringly bad in the Yun mirror match.

And look -- we say similar things about Chun/Yun in 3S, but they're not 100% unbeatable.
    ...
And if AE is too broken, we can always switch to any of the other fighting games coming out *cough*KOF 13*cough*

I'd actually been musing on that with a few people here.

I've no match up experience, but wildly speculating, Yun's got to get in sooner or later, and I assume palm wont stop ex boom. Dive kicks don't scare Guile in general as he has cr hp os and different good moves at different ranges to stop them. He also has that clutch jump back air throw which may still work (albeit in 7 frames not 6).

I think it will be very similar to the cammy match now, Yun will annihalate Guile on one good jump in, but if Guile knows his zones it might never happen.

I think he's more showing an example of why Yun is supposed to be so OP.

What do I know though, I think the last time I played as one of the twins was 2001 or something :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,006 ✭✭✭Ramza

I don't think he looks as bad as people say, (but Tokido's statement is interesting). He'll have his bad matchups, plus the twins have low health and stun. But I do think Yun looks to be shaping up as he was in 3s, the best in the game basically. I'm going to be maining him anyway since I've waiting for him since 2009 @_@

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

I think saying that stuff based on the mirror match is a bit silly too - of course the first player to get a pressure advantage will do well since yun has bad health, stun, and defensive options.

I think it's funny people moaning about him being broken from the same blog that names 10 characters as doing well vs him too.

In the next blog Ryan says that Daigo plays a more conservative Yun style than Kazonoko, surely that accounts for Kazonoko consistently being able to mount the pressure on him.

As for Guile vs. Yun, I agree with Farz that it's going to be tough for Guile to be using ex booms much with the meter building nerf. Honestly I'd say the meter you build would be better off used FADCing flash kicks once Yun gets in.

Whiffing palm builds an awful lot of meter too so I can see Yun quickly getting the meter advantage in that match.

That said I presume Guile can keep him out fairly well, and I'd say it's gonna be a tough match for us day 1 Yuns going up against Doom's 2+ years of Guile experience.

If Deejay LK Upkicks can beat Yun divekicks, I think I'll be okay.

I've never played the game but a lot of people who have are complaining that the top tiers are too good compared to everyone else. It sounds pretty similar to people complaining about AE.

That's always going to be the struggle in character specialist vs counterpickerer. The two strategies have different advantages at different times.

    er

Can't see why it wouldn't, it beats everything else.

A good Yun will try to bait it out and stick to the ground though I'd say.

DLC is less the 2 weeks away.
I for one am super excited to play endless Yuns online :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

I'd say you'll be more seeing endless Evil Ryus online tbh. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,972 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

It'll be a million Oni players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,888 ✭✭✭Fergus_

Clearly going to be a million Gens

It's like Valle said in the video I posted recently in "interesting videos" (here for a quick reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_QiXgMBevs), new characters are always hard to understand or figure out, (as Valle says, "hard to understand or beat at first) because, well, it's new. Just watch to find out

Remember it's Daigo we're talking about here, and J Wong using Yang (as well as other top players), not some average Joe, give it time to strain

I'm not trying to defend the twins in any way but like Dreddy says, they suck under pressure, and the fact they have crap health/stun only adds to it. They do have sick pressure though and some amazing tools, but, that's what they were like in SF3. Give time and you'll figure them out. It's just scary at the moment.

    Any new backgrounds in AE?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Its gonna be a good laugh alright, bring back the lobbies , grudges, first to 10s and tag team tournies. Great and much needed revival of our favorite game.

Hardly any of us play ranked, or random endless so... random yuns/onis/evil ryus dont matter?
anyway A-trak, i assume you will be changing characters :):D

Hopefully PSN shop will be back by then. So SSF4AE and MK DLC in the same week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭Misty Chaos

    Looking forward to AE myself, being prepping the Xbox for it;

New 3 month Subscription - Check
Took Hard Drive from old xbox and put into my new one - Check and more than enough space for the download.
Points Card - Getting one hopefully next week ( I have a lot on this week )

After Tempest, I plan on taking a short break from the game ( I probably be playing MK in the mean time as I intend entering that as well at the Evo event ) but will be back playing SF the night before the AE release if you guys intend on playing any farewell lobbies.

Will I change mains, its a possibility. I'm still going to be repping Juri at the Evo tourney but it may be the last time I use her in a tournament setting depending on either I get blown up really badly or one of the new characters resonates with me.

    Exciting times, isn't it?

Who's Taku? Never heard of him before but he's number 9 with Blanka, which is mighty impressive.

Nemo with no chun makes me a sad panda.

The addition of Games for Windows Live is as frustrating as ever – but we expected that anyway. Even more upsetting are the strict security measures that Capcom have implemented to prevent the rampant piracy that hit Street Fighter IV in 2009. Stay signed in to GFWL and everything will work out fine. Try to play without an online connection however, and you won’t be able to save progress in the challenge rooms or the settings menu. Even more annoying is that you’ll only get to use 15 of the 39 characters in local play and won’t get to access any of your DLC. You’ll need an online connection to play, basically.

    🤪
