HP Touchpad Thread (NO Discussion Of Personal Buying/Selling)

Just a heads up to people.

I'm in NY for the summer and I've just ordered 2 of these for $220.
HP have discontinued the Touchpad this week and are now letting them go for $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB).

I know most of you aren't in the USA but treat this as a heads up to get a very good tablet, with Flash Player, at a knock-down price.

Open up HP App Catalog then try searching for whatever might take your fancy, there's enough stuff to make the thing usefull despite what all the naysayers yak on about. The Kalemsoft player is Good if you want to fork out €7 or there's a beta player available on Preware:

Tedtalks, if you don't know about Tedtalks, just get it. If you do, You know.

You can search for translators, dictionaries, so and and so forth. In the App catalog, Touchpad specific appa are highlighted otherwise they run in a smaller window which still works well.

There have been some very mixed comments about Argos on this thread in the last couple of day, so I thought in aid of balance I should let you know my experience. I reserved the Touchpad with Argos on the recommendation of someone on the boards (Thanks). Got my confirmation text this morning from Jarvis. Dropped in picked up my new 32gb Touchpad. No fuss, no hassle. The lady who sold it to me did mention that staff were not allowed to buy any units. She also referred to it as an ipad, I didn’t have the patience to correct her, but it dose speak to how difficult it is to break into the pad market.

Anyway top marks to Argos, and thanks to all those who gave good info on this thread.

Yep that was me! gave you a little 'woohoo! ' as i walked past ya with sweat still pumping off me as i ran like a lunatic to get up to there! and then the till not working right! Ahhhh!!! I was like just give to me what i came for on the inside but on the outside i was like, no that's fine, take your time....

Yep, I was waiting another 10-15minutes

Probably only Dun Laoghaire wiping their reservations, might be worth asking at till for one if anybody nearby there. edit: says there gone above ^^^^

Don't hold your breath. Got a txt this morning saying it was ready to pick up in Childers Rd. Limerick. Went over on lunch and your one tells me they cant be reserved! Showed her the text and she just stared dumbly back!

Checked with a girl in Argos Dundrum at lunchtime on the off chance that a reservation had lapsed uncollected. No joy. No stock.

A young fella working there overheard my conversation and said I didn't hear it from him but there is stock in Argos Santry. I can't get out there but feel free to grab one for yourself in Santry and one for me (finder's fee!) PM me with the deets and I'll pony up on the Euros. (I know this is a long shot!)
