Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
'Not downplaying anything' says poster downplaying it.
It's just more TACO.
There won't be any need to secure the straits once he facks off.
I agree every country should be responsible for its own defence but NATO is supposed to be different from the former Warsaw Pact. Members should not have to fear other members.
That’s exactly what I said after watching Schindlers List with my friends but they just looked at me as if I was crazy!
So, the US feck off and have a big winning celebration. Meanwhile, Israel gets the forever war they always wanted?
Israel Hayom website says Israel bombed an Iranian port called Bandar Anzali on the Caspian Sea which is used to send military supplies both to an from Russia
He was injured early on in the war. I havent heard any updates on that.
trump is winding down while at same time sending more troops to middle east .. guess he likes to keep everyone guessing
The myth that Israel was untouchable, imperviousness to damage has been severely damaged.
The US consumer is going to be impacted by the damage of the last three weeks well into next year, so the appetite for giving Israel a blank cheque is wearing thin.
Winning the Gulf war didn't get bush sr reelected.
I'd say those troops will be turning around now fairly quickly.
I'm sure it was predicted that the US would start running out of munitions after a few weeks.
So here we are, it's a lot easier to TACO than to scale up from here.
They think that because they weathered the storm of the odd rocket made of repurposed pipes, they'll have no problem with Iran. Their high-tech arms cost money to maintain and restock.
Trump could walk away from Israel now and leave them on their own.
Iran may well smell blood.
Speculation on Channel 4 that the US is going to try to seize Kharg island, where 92% of Irans oil exports transit.
Interestingly, in 1979 during the revolution, the oil workers on this island were on strike.
The risk according to journalist Tim Marshall is that Iran would react by taking out the oil and gas facilities in the Arab side of the strait.
Some islands that control entrance to Hormuz Strait including Qeshm, which is known as "missile city" because its salt mines are believed to be full of missiles. The island has 150,000 inhabitants.
The bombing of Iranian desalination plants is a war crime. Its needed to produce drinking water by removing the salt.
AIPAC won't like that. I think the mistake people make is thinking that because Trump is dumb and narcissistic, he's easy to control. But they're also assuming he acts rationally and understands the consequences of his actions. This will not end well.
The US is unlikely to be running out of munitions any time soon.
Trump has consistently shown that other world fascists control him like a puppet on a string.
You know things are going to plan when you’re lifting sanctions on the country your currently bombing and only a few days ago trump said they’re the worst people since hitler. Make it make sense.
The US Treasury Department has said it is removing its own sanctions on Iranian crude oil and petroleum products for 30 days, as the US-Israeli war on Iran continues to cause oil price and supply shocks around the world.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the temporary authorisation only applies to sanctioned oil that was already in transit and not to new orders.
I think it's highly likely that Trump will seize kharg Island for the simple reason of saving face.
The Iranians know his vanity and they will let him. Getting out of kharg will be the hard part.
whose blood their own?
Zionist
Trump wants to leave and is asking other countries to secure the strait. I think the rest should say yes, we will take care of it if America completely leaves the Middle East. No more support for Israel, close the bases around the gulf etc.
It's the complete imbalance of power there that causes all of the problems and this guarantee of American support has turned Israel into an absolute menace. There is non-zero chance you could get Trump at the right moment of exasperation with Israel where he could consider it a big win for America to have Europe say they'll open the strait and agree to whatever to make it happen.
Wow. They were not meant to have that missile range
Seems so…
What kind of question is that?
If the Irish Government was openly supporting and funding the IRA to attack the UK, and declared one of its state objectives was to destroy the UK, then yes I would not think it would be shockingly unexpected if the UK struck Irish military infrastructure or attacked the Irish state to some extent.
I am not sure how you think that is some sort of ethical connundrum.
But it goes back to your original point being completely wide - the Irish Government did not endorse, support, harbour, fund the IRA.
So to say it would be the "same" as the UK bombing or invading Ireland in response to IRA activity is not comparable.
Some Israelis did also go to viewing parties to watch the carnage unfolding in Gaza. Some expressed the view that all the inhabitants of a conquered city being slaughtered is fine. It might be harder for you to accept this for some specific reason, but you need to accept it that there are people with bloodlust on both sides,Walshb
Finally, I wonder if the ICJ finds against Israel, will you continue to insist no genocide occurred.
The irony is the Iranian regime is the one facing an existential threat from a man whose life long dream was to eliminate it. From their perspective they have very good reason to attack states facilitating the attacks on them. Their calculation being the attacks may eventually lead to Donnie walking way. Of course violating international law by attacking civilian infrastructure in the process is wrong, regardless of who does it. This is why you being consistent hold Israel to the same standard when it violates international law in the same manner in order to bring about a strategic objective.
It seems most legal scholars are of the view you can't go to war against another country based on what they might do in the future. It sets a dangerous precedent:
Imagine if the Chinese or others use that pretext in the future to justify a war. Would the Americans, should they condemn it, be seen as a bit hypocritical ?
You know Twitter has a bad reputation but the worst people I've ever found online in terms of politics are right here in this forum in this thread and in the Gaza thread.
The shlt doesn't rise as much on Twitter and you don't have to engage with trash. But here, even ignoring users doesn't help because you still see them quoted.
I really don't get it when people who voluntarily post here shlt on Twitter when here is so much worse.
I don't understand how Israel can have spies so embedded in Iran but not know all of these details. Or do they know but not say because saying confirms the spies.
The US wrap sheet is far longer and colourful than that.
You keep banging on about China yet are at pains to try and convince everyone not to judge Iran based off US/Israel actions.
Put China aside or more importantly put the US propaganda of a China that youve rotted your brain on aside and just judge the US actions over the past 70 years .
Theyve been rogue since their foundation and Donnie is the peak of it.
An F35 appears to have been damaged during the conflict. The pilot survived and was able to land the aircraft.
Also, France and Spain have denied a B1B bomber involved in the war permission to use their airspace.
