So vaccinated people travelling with a negative test still isn't enough for him?! Has he any concept of how disease spreads at all ?!
I thought that prick was banned from talking/leaking to the media too.
Hmm that's a tough one, sorry I've no great suggestions.
There's a lot of conflicting information out there. We are due to travel in January and were relying on the covid recovery cert for re-entry as the HSE told my wife not to take another test within 6 months because it will still show up as being positive
Drive a few hours north and use Cairnryan
Sorry if someone has already answered this but Lloyd's Pharmacy do in store antigen tests for travel and they have stores in North Wales. I got one in Abergele on Monday, book on their website. Great service. If using Abergele, it's just off the A55, I parked in the big Tesco car park and walked to Lloyds, a couple of minutes. £30 and the whole thing including the printed cert took about half an hour, take your passport in with you
If driving, Lloyd's Pharmacy do in store antigen tests and have shops in North Wales. Abergele is really easy, off the A55, park in the big tesco car park, in and out in less than half an hour. Also in Llandudno Junction and other towns along the A55. Book the appointment on their website
It seems you can still transit through Belfast without a negative test if your end destination is Ireland, according to the link below. Does anyone know if this is still the case?
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-advice#toc-3
Yes of course, they can't stop people moving within the UK.
Thanks, I know that much but I actually meant when arriving from a non-CTA State. It suggests arriving from any Non-Red list State with the intention to travel to Ireland doesn't require a pre-departure test.
As long as your journey originates in the UK.
Oh right ok I get you. If it's still up on the website I guess you're ok?
Maybe check with the airline?
Wonder when the booster doses will be added to the EU travel cert? In France their pass sanitaire will cease to work for adults 7 months after their final dose of the original vaccination.
If there ends up with a 6,7,9 month expiry date there is going to be a scramble for boosters in Feb/March.
Is the expiry just for Adults or is it age 12+ ?
That's great thanks, my sister (living in Wales) just found that one too for me. Beware online bookings though I tried and didn't get any confirmation. Also closed until 28th Dec.
Apparently a chemist near Holyhead about to start doing them soon because of demand will post details when I get them.
This could all be moot if Tony Hooligan has his way... and it will be just me, hubby and the mutt having Christmas Dinner at home 😪
The travel industry here and in UK is fcuked.
Take a look at articles on www.travelweekly.co.uk/news
Theres almost no forward bookings for next year.
Travel industry depends on confidence, knowing about the future state of travel.
Its the largest employer by numbers.
I will not be booking travel if theres ongoing changes to entry requirements.
I have the 2 shots and I am done.
Main things putting people off travelling... uncertainty, cost and hassle of testing.
But equally when I look up flights to Spain next year destinations that are normally 250 pp are 500pp, 150 destinations on Italy are all at 300pp.
So on the one hand the airlines are fucked.
On the other though they are either seeing demand like never before or they are price gouging at levels most people can't afford - which is counter to trying to attract passengers.
Update from Mehole on further travel restrictions. None for now
https://www.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/taoiseach-micheal-martin-plays-down-possibility-of-further-travel-restrictions-41135756.html
I'd imagine it is for all age groups, but can't confirm.
Just read that it could come into force on 10 Jan.
https://www.independent.ie/life/travel/travel-news/eu-countries-expected-to-agree-nine-month-limit-on-covid-certs-for-travel-41135599.html
To add to the confusion, different countries have different internal limits, ranging from 7 months in France to 1 year Austria.
of course there won’t be. I posted earlier than it was lunacy and there was zero chance of non essential travel restrictions over Christmas. The idea is so ludicrous I doubt NPHET would even propose it.
From what I have read the EU Commission proposal is that 9 months after the initial vaccination (1 or 2 doses depending on vaccine) that the EU DCC would expire. This is just a proposal right now but there is another meeting on this next week. The understanding is that once ratified by EU Countries that France, Austria etc would adhere to this.
It seems to apply to people aged 12+. Which would leave families with kids aged 12-15 in the worst position as that age are ineligible for Boosters (with no plan to extend to this age group). Adults and teens aged 16-17 are eligible for Boosters and kids under 12 are exempt.
To me it seems odd to have one particular Age Group 12-15 not catered for by exemption or eligibility for Boosters particularly as the apparent aim was to make travel within the EU easier.
I am also biased as our kids are 12 and 15 and we were hoping to be able to travel within the EU in June.
The best solution is a one way ticket out of this kip.
Level of doom and gloom is relentless.
If I win the €19m on Saturday I would be gone !
The testing if vaccinated was brought in for 2 weeks last weekend - as things stand it ends next Sunday.
Any word on it being extended? I assume it will until Jan 9th to align with the other restrictions.
Is there any hope this testing requirement will be lifted in January? Doesn't sound like it.
Two trips planned late January and February. It's such a pain
It'll continue
Advised is the key word there. Most will not be bothering with that.
I was referring to what already in place, the pcr or antigen coming in, they'll be extended.
But yeah the arrivals from UK being asked to take an antigen test each day for 5 days is advice, your free to take it or leave it
Don’t think there’s any harm in that advice tbh. Everyone heading home from the UK for Christmas will be able to pick up a couple of 7 packs of lateral flow tests for free at almost any pharmacy. So easy enough to do. I would probably do it myself if I was heading to spend a couple of weeks in a busy family home
Yes, that's the kind of sensible "treat us like adults" approach we need more of.
Most people want to stay safe and do the right thing. It's good to see, for once, govt not using threats and fines for every small behaviour change.
