What's the craic (pun intended) with anal sex?

Morning folks,

As this is AH, I'm expecting a plethora of vulgar answers but I'm genuinely wondering, what's the story with men and anal sex? Every guy I've been with over the last few years has asked for it. I can't think of a single guy who hasn't asked me if I'm up for it. Nothing at all wrong with that, I have done it in the right circumstances when the mood has taken over but I definitely don't enjoy it. I'm just wondering why men like it so much. I think the.. for want of a better word, normal way, is much nicer. Is it because its a bit taboo (or is it even?), is it because it shows the girl has a dirty side? Also.. And this hugely worries me, are you put off by a girl who does it? Do you judge her in some maybe even subconscious way?

I wasn't talking about female orgasms. I meant, for me, an orgasm from anal stimulation (entry in my ass) is much more intense than say, a regular handjob or blowjob orgasm.

Not into it myself. It feels like a hollow hole, like I may as well be putting it in the wall, and you get all the same sensations from doing vaginal doggy. As someone said, a vagina is like a custom built home for a dick: it's wet, it's warm, it's...welcoming. There's a lot of fun to be had down there, don't get me wrong, but just anal in particular doesn't do it for me and is generally painful for girls so there's nothing to be gained by them putting up with that.

I think it's one of the things porn has glorified because it seems taboo and, from talking to other lads I know who like it, I think there's a power thing at play too rather than it being physically pleasurable in that they enjoy getting someone to do something that's uncomfortable because it's an ego boost. Now that's not a judgement/criticism, if that gets off two consenting adults more power to them. I’m guessing most anal (straight) is done in the context of actual relationships where the STI status of both partners is known.
