US ELECTION PREDICTIONS

I know there are a lot of election threads open but hoping mods will let this one run for 48 hours.

Just a small thread asking for each persons predictions on tonight's election results.

Will it be close? Trump or Harris to win by a proverbial landslide?

My own prediction is Harris wins and wins by more than we thought she could, i believe the female vote is going to go against Trump in ways they could never imagine and I also think they have underestimated the black vote.

Anyway, onto my prediction.

Harris takes 4 (5?) Of the swing states, I believe Arizona, Wisconson, Nevada and NC will go to Harris, I'm also hoping for a massive upset in either Florida or Texas.

Obviously the more EC votes the better and genuinely believe anything below 330 will be a bad night and give Trump room to call "rigged" elections.

I'm also out on a limb and say dems will have both houses but maybe that's just being overenthusiastic.

Please feel free to share your own predictions/thoughts and for those sad enough like me to be staying up through the night to watch the results come in I hope you have plenty of alcohol to see you through what will probably be the most exciting and indeed scariest election of our time.

I backed Harris to win after Biden dropped out and lumped a lot more on her after I saw the Selzer poll at the weekend. It's still ridiculously tight and I'll never be shocked at Trump winning after 2016 but I think she'll win. She appears to be getting the wind back in her sails over these closing days.

The House generally goes with the President so I'll say a Democrat majority there. I'm not even going to speculate on the margin and we won't know for weeks anyway.

The Senate collection of races this cycle is brutal for the Democrats. They are defending lots of seats including 3 in Red states (Ohio, Montana & West Virginia). West Virginia is definitely gone and it looks like Montana is too. I think Brown might hang on in Ohio. That would leave it as 51-49 to the Republicans. There is an Independent candidate who is being surprisingly competitive in Nebraska, who could deny the Republicans the outright majority but I don't think he'll win it.

I'm predicting Harris by a reasonable margin. Not a blowout, but enough that she could afford to lose one or two states and still win. Senate to the Republicans. I don't know where the House will end up. Not paid enough attention outside of my district.

Senate will go Red, given the seats in play today, and President Harris will have to deal with that until the mid-terms in Nov 2026.

She was a 1 topic wonder... abortion. People who didn't want to kill millions of babies were never going to vote for her.

The problem with Trump's (and Republicans in the last decades) economical policy is that it's a payday loan approach; they give people $50 in the hand and don't tell them of the 30% interest rate on the money they got that needs to be paid back later. The US borrowing will balloon even further but as Trump is not in power in 10 years time he does not care and can borrow to give tax discounts to the millionaires and pennies to the people who now think they are better off when in reality they are much worse off but don't see the pain down the line (and that's only the economy; let's not even talk about environmental, health etc. policies). Let's not even start talking about the inflation that's coming from tariffs and his tax policies… I'm likely to benefit purely economically from it short term but I see the long term effect as detrimental.

He will because he thinks they makes him look tough and he got zero clue how they work, China I'd say locked in, Mexico highly probable if a deal is not struck in some form (most likely something around immigration) and then a tussle with EU of course (but I'd guess EU is best suited to respond in kind that hurts) but I doubt he'll get his "remove federal tax for tariffs" through though. The question mark will be if he removes sanctions on Russia etc. more than anything else.
