I might reconsider going forward: 1) if evidence emerges that it can spread outdoors 2) if I'm in a busy outdoor space like shopping on a busy shop street but that's going to be unlikely for me. I might consider it if I go to a beach and its busy with people.
In short, N95 masks are the US standards for respirator masks; KN95 masks are the Chinese standards for masks.

Manion wrote: » What should they cost? I assume you have insights you'd like to share into supply chains and costs of production. I think this has been covered a few times. Masks/Community masks should be assumed to offer little or no protection to you from infection. These masks are about preventing you as a carrier of Corona virus from infecting others. People assuming basic masks protect them and as such perform more risky activities is one of the reasons the HSE has cited for not recommending them. The masks I linked to have no medical or industrial rating

That's still a third the price of many cafe coffees
owlbethere wrote: » I don't get this. It says if you wear a mask, it's not going to help protect you from infection but then in the very same line it said it will help you if you're a carrier of the virus to prevent spreading it. If everyone wore a masks/cloth covering - wouldn't it be two-fold?

Someone else wearing a basic surgical mask will protect you from infection by others. This is why the messaging from the HSE has consistently been that they are only of value to people who are infected already. Respirator masks or other medical/industrial standardized masks on the other hand protect you from other people. Depending on the decided they may also protect other people from you.If everyone wore a mask, yes, everyone would be protected.

Feel free to bookmark this post. The reason the UK are experiencing 1000+ deaths a day and have collapsed large swathes of their emergency medical care is because their "scientists" diluted science with politics. It never ever works.
