Boston Qualification
hey lads, just wondering about Boston Qualifying. I’m 58 and I’m doing Dublin this year. This years Dublin is in the qualifying window for Boston 2028 I think. Would it be correct to say that if I run approx 3:40(3:50 BQ-10 minutes buffer) I should get a bib for Boston 2028 all things being equal??

Where are crusaders gone?
I used to be a regular around these parts, not in years. Not run a lot in a while, but got guilt tripped into DCM in a few weeks [which will be marathon number unlucky 13]. Very overweight and under trained, so run walking from the start. I watched the nationals on TV a few weeks back [and saw 3 or 4 folks Im 90% sure are…

Marathon Plan
Hi all I'm 62 and run for general fitness average times are about 30 - 35 minutes for 5km and 65 - 70 minutes for 10 km. I have been offered a place in the London Marathon so need to put together a plan. At the moment I'm not trying for a specific finishing time just in getting round. The worst case scenario is not to…

Ultra Discussion Thread
There seems to be enough interest in ultras/ultra runners on this forum so thought I'd set up a thread to discuss training, races, resources, tips, gear etc. There are a decent number of ultras in Ireland, I counted 19 this year (not counting ultras with two separate events on the same day). We are spoiled for choice in…

Random Running Questions
Not sure if this will be a goer, but personally I like the idea of having a place to pose some random questions about running related stuff that don’t justify a thread of their own. I’ll kick it off. - What is the best time of the day to drink your beetjuice? - Why do cyclists take precedence over runners in the phoenix…

Ever broken ribs and returned to running after, how long did it take?
I tripped on a crack in the pavement jogging yesterday evening and ended up fracturing a couple of ribs. Doc said it will be about 10-12 weeks typically for someone my age to heal up completely. I'm in a lot of pain right now and running is totally out of the question I'd imagine for a few weeks at least. I'm hoping i can…

Peter Lynch Runs 59:52 To Become First Irishman To Break The Magical 60 Minute Half Marathon Barrier

Marathon coaching groups
Hi folks, Just planning out my running plans for the year ahead. I'm registered for a marathon later in the year and wondering if the group coaching by the private coaches (Emmet Dunleavy, Fitness Goose, etc) is worth the €300 cost? I'm thinking what can they do that Runna, etc can't do at this stage? Given its not 1-2-1…

Should Nike be sponsoring Sha'Carri Richardson?
Reports in late 2025 indicated a, high-value, multi-year contract (cited as a 5-year, $20 million deal) that includes the development of signature apparel and gear. Previously Sha'Carri Richardson missed the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. A urine sample that she submitted tested positive for THC metabolites indicating recent…

Recovering from performance rut
Hi all, I’m hoping for some advice about getting out of a rut and building back after a down period. I’ve been running pretty consistently for about 5 years, I had a really good season from January to June last year and had some great pbs I’m really proud of, for context purposes: sub 16:30 5K, 1:15 HM and sub 2:50 mara.…
