I absolutely hope they don't go that route. It's part of what makes it a challenge.

It's not challenging to sprint through a section just tedious imo. I think the challenging part is the boss fights themselves and also when you explore a new area for the first time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭Cravez

If there are going to be invasions in the game (very likely) then putting a bonfire beside a boss fog gate will completely negate that aspect of the gameplay so I would highly doubt there will be bonfires near any bosses.

Yeah just got to sen's in new game plus and it took me maybe 10-15 minutes to get to the boss collecting and killing all but the demons in the pit. I wonder will they use the same fixed enemy spawns or randomise them a little ? I'm guessing they will stay fixed.

I'd imagine the enemies will be fixed, with mini bosses not re-spawning. Just guessing from what I have seen in the videos so far, and that no one mentions any other system in the commentaries.

I really hope they don't change it. I think it works well as it is. Random enemies in an already hard game could drive people mad !! Especially if you are just doing a run to the boss and enemies popping up in unexpected places to kill you. The likes of the climb out of blightown with random darts and barbarians would be very tedious !!!

I hope what he said about carrying multiple weapons is true. I've always thought a better system would be to allow players to equip whatever their burden allows them to. If that means wearing lighter armour to equip a 3rd or even 4th weapon then fair game. Also if what he says about the dodge mechanics are true it's a great change. Invincibility frames are never a good thing so changing it so attacks have a very specific hit range that can be dodged accordingly sounds great. Also please please please let the backstab window be about 80% smaller and let it be interruptible.

I don't mind the extra healing items as such but I hope they limit or ban them from pvp. Demon's Souls pvp was a chore as it just became a grass eating fest which could take forever!

I'm actually looking forward to this more than the PS4!

Not familiar with Demon Souls PvP, but if it's the same as Dark Souls then id doubt there will be any limit or ban on extra items or healing. Basically the Soul's franchise is more of a primarily single player experience but with integrated multiplayer elements. It would be hard to limit something that is already freely integrated into the single player experience.

The only alternative to limiting/banning heal items would be an arena type event such as the Dark Souls stoicism arena (although I haven't tried that yet so don't know if they ban/limit heal items)

I don' expect there to be myself however they came up with the Estus flask to combat the problem of unlimited healing through grass in Demon's as they had a lot of negative feedback from it so I'm hoping there is something in place to stop people stocking up with 99 of each item and essentially having unlimited healing in both single player and pvp.

It's all hear say at the moment anyway, I have faith they will get it right!

Backstab as it is in single player was fine in Dark souls. The animation was wonky but they are fixing that. So I hope they don't change anything else.

You fix the lag backstab fest online by disabling backstabs in pvp. It's really that simple.

Removing them completely might be too far as a lot of the crit weapons are designed specifically for them and it is a direct counter to massive poise + great weapon builds. If they reduced the window by a large margin and fixed their terrible netcode it would go a long way to helping however I could definitely live with them removing it from pvp completely if that's how they decided to go.

No chance i want to play this in beta. Will happily wait till it's released properly, rather than having parts of it spoiled while not finished.

Beta not available to xbox360 or pc -
Next month's Dark Souls 2 beta will not be available on Xbox 360 or PC, Namco Bandai has confirmed to VideoGamer.com.
Instead, the beta will remain exclusive to PlayStation 3.

1st game should be reasonably priced now, well worth picking it up.

It's pretty much the best and most important game of this generation of consoles. And it's better on PC :P

You'd be surprised how many people I've mentioned Dark Souls to and they look at me as if I've two heads.

There were two guys playing Monster Hunter against each other in the Harbour Bar a week or two ago. I was certain they'd have played it so asked them what they thought of it.

Absolutely no clue what I was on about. One of them even said that because it wasn't on a Nintendo console he wouldn't be interested in it.

Felt like bopping him over the head with the SNK control panel I happened to be carrying under my arm :D

Well the asynchronous multiplayer that Demon's/Dark Souls introduced will be the next big thing in the next gen. I see it in Watchdogs already. Unfortunately most are looking at it as DRM for single player games.

Black Armour Edition available for pre-order for less than £35. Sounds like a good deal to me :)

Shame you have to pay for the figurine in the Collector's Edition as all I'd want is the artbook and ST£62 is too rich for my blood.

I have no space for figurine in my room anyway (all the ones I got as gifts are stored away under my bed -_-). I would like that cloth map though, would be nice to get that on my wall and nerd out while I'm real into the game. Good to see the full collector's edition is now available for PC because for a while they were only advertising it on the consoles' releases.

Play the first, you know yourself it is a great game, you would be missing out on a lot of pain and torture otherwise, very rewarding pain and torture I might add.

play the first, you wont miss out on anything story wise, but the first one is brilliant, by far one of my favourite games, and I don't normally say that with games this gen. True work of genius to the team(s) that made all of the souls games so far

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Just replaying some Dark Souls now and I forgot how low the framerate can go and I'm not even in Blighttown yet.

As I said in the Eurogamer Expo thread.. if they can maintain the visuals and framerate of the Dark Souls 2 demo I played on ps3 it'll be amazing.

You'd get the first for a pittance and it's one of the best games of this generation. Make sure you get the version with the DLC included.

I wanted to beat the Mirror Knight so badly, and really did come close. I reckon 10 more minutes and I would have had him. :o

I also thought about pre-ordering, but not sure what game would be like for delivery from UK to here.

Ya I know. I wish I didn't mess around so much in the beginning and legged it straight to the fight. Got close enough too but his attacks were so strong that 1 or 2 (usually 1) direct hits and you were gone.

You would be very silly considering the original is half the price or less and is without a doubt the best game of this gen (imo of course but a lot of people would agree).

Kotaku have posted some videos of Beta footage as it's gone live in Japan, more of the same but you can get a look at the new inventory system and stuff.
