Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Realistically what sort of mpg is possible with these?? Mostly short journeys and some long...

I get 25 normal daily driving, that's some city and some motorway. If you stay off boost you can get more out of it I'm sure, but why would you want to do that. ;)

That's not too bad! Was looking at golf's when I was buying but ignored the petrol ones as i was dead set on a daysul! Problem is I was driving long journeys a few times a week that time but I'm not doin that any more... So is life I guess! :p

A friend of mine, got a 1.8D ford fiesta car, on NI reg.

Its like 400 or somthing to change over the plates.

What hes going to do is convert a 5 door fiesta into a van, by welding the back doors shut. Taking out the back seats, welding panels to the back windows. I thought you could only do this to a 3 door?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭E39MSport

Nah. Plenty of the commercials are converted 5 doors.

    Really, oh dear :o

So does that mean when he has it converted, he canchange over the plates as a commercial and pay the 50 euro, I think its 50 euro.

Or must he change the plates first?

afaik, make all the required changes first then get it inspected and hand over the shillings.

    Same as an OPC so:P

Yes, but €6 a week is a small price to pay for a 5 pot and a more capable chassis.

Everything sounds small when its broken down to small chunks.

Annualised figures are much more appropriate when it comes to money/spend and it's impact/hit on salary :)

A new BMW M5 is only €0.256 cent per minute for the next year though?

Ok, a €300 tax hit once a year and similar economy. Plus a nicer sound.

I'd say something if it was €60 per week but €6? It a pint and a packet of chili peanuts.

What if you prefer the looks of opc and 240hp is more then enough for you? Plus tax is still cheaper by 340eu per year, which can be spent for extra heavy foot :)

    light frontal damage, 9.5k

    Full-11510693.jpeg

    are people fecking for real?!

Didn't we have this discussion a few months back? Light frontal damage = chassis legs in good order, engine still running, but needs all the cosmetic dohickeys, bumpers, bonnet, wings, front crossmember. It's repairable, and all the bits aren't structural - hence 'light'. It looks a lot worse than it is IMHO. You'd get that back on the road for (relatively speaking) very little money. Whether or not the valuation of the car as-is is fair is a different matter.

Yeah, but for 9.5k you get one with no damage, nct and tax...

Anyway, just back from 540km trip again. Fecking tired as a nun after gangbang. Nn lads

If you prefer the looks then there's no helping you, plain and simple. You're a lost cause. :P

You could probably get close to 240bhp from an ST with only a K&N air filter fitted. They regularly clock in the mid 230's stock on a dyno test. I've not tried that theory out myself so I cannot confirm (and I'd only 100% believe it when I see it), but apparently it's true.

The less that a Euro a day saving on tax? Meh. If you're worried about paying the tax at all, Thelma fun car is not for you. Stick to a Daysul tractor engine. :P

ofc it sounds lovely " less then an euro extra ". this way we can say 740 is only " more then a euro a day then ST ", but in the end of the day you pay tax every 3 months ( i am poor, i cant afford to pay all in one ), so paying 186eu is way easyer on your finances, then paying 283eu.

i havent dismissed it yet. to be honest i am at the stage where there are so many options and i did not decided that is going to be best bed. When you got money in pocket suddenly all the best choices you had in your mind are getting same minuses and there are good few new ones...
feck, buying car can be fun and very damn annoying.

Had a google but didn't see anything.
Square Fit only charge €40 but AFAIK they don't do call out.
If I had insurance it'd be so handy, they're literally about a 5 minute drive away.

Both my parents but the car has to be insured under someone elses name AFAIK. No tax either and they'd have to drive past Tallaght Garda Station. Justa bit dodgy. :p
