    Competed at the IDFPA Nationals.

That's basically the achievement given that I said I wasn't competing until about two weeks ago. Matched by bench PR and ~5% off my squat and deadlift PRs. About the return I deserved for the effort invested.

Next phase of The Plan begins now!

New fed, looser judging, higher squats?

Some calorie expenditure! would you typically eat additional cals in the days leading up to the cycle or just pig out after the event?

Pressed a tennis ball against my ankles until they didn't hurt any more.

Eat accordingly before, during and after.

    Yesterday I had:
A shake with oats, peanut butter, whey & frozen berries.

2 hours in I had coffee, granola bar & banana

2 hours after that I had scrambled eggs, cake & coffee.

When I got home I had chicken, avocado & an Apple.

Then I had chowder & chicken stir fry with noodles & veg.

I kinda miss spins like this fromy cycling days.

I remember covering 130km in something like 4hrs 13min in a group of 10 or so. You'd sleep well after!

300km cycling in 5 days this week,
    And 3 good weights sessions
    And near perfect eating
Now for beer & eggs of the Easter variety

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,830 ✭✭✭deisedude

Did an hour weights session in the gym and then went for a 3k run after in the sunshine :-)

6:38.5 2k row, knocked 16 seconds off my last attempt at the distance back at Christmas. Delighted, though I was in a total hula hoop for about 5mins after.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

    That's savage going Lloyd.

I've never got under 7 mins myself

I've been working towards it for a while to be fair. Did a cycle of 5 x 500m intervals and I've been rowing 5k pieces once a week for the past while.

Jaysus though, a flat out 2k hurts like nothing else.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

    Yeah, they are disgusting.
I was at the Indoor rowing last year.
    I did the 500m in 1:26.

Lad I know did the 2k in 6:14.
    He was in ribbons after

Oh, you were in the 500, nice one!!

I watched the 2k last year. I can hold my own over 500 but I can't comprehend what those boys are capable of over 2k!! The average stroke they're holding for 6 and a bit minutes is devastating. Beasts!!

    Seriously impressive rowing, Lloyd!

I did a proper all-out row once back in college and did 500m in 1.31 and I had the last rights after it so a 2k all-out just aint gonna happen :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

Yeah, and when you think the WR is 5:38 or something sick like that!

    12 reps @ 45kg db chest press
    6 reps @ 50kg db chest press
130kg bench paused for 3 seconds
    3x1 120kg bench paused for 6 seconds

    @ 84kg

Very happy with how my strength is progressing lately.
