Yes doesn't sound "pleasant" but sounds like Life.

What age is your son?

How will it affect him seeing these people?

My son is 14 and it might not effect him at all but im not taking the chance, thanks...

Trust me im not the only person saying its not the turn out the residents wanted

What time in the evening used he go for the DVDs?
At what age will you let him out

I gave my opnion on the pub which I think is the point to the thread.... as did alot on this thread... As I stated IMO

OK, i'll give you the flicking of cigarette butts on the street, I hate that and not just because my puppy likes to eat everything she can find. As to the loudness was it shouting or just loud conversations?

I've been in the place a few time and whilst not the classiest place in the world it seemed OK to me. We even saw the landlord cutting people off for having too much to drink so appears to be well ran.

Ah thats really good to hear that the landlord is cutting folk for to much drink

They were just loud...I suppose we just have to get used to it.:)

I suppose in reality, any pub in Dublin or Ireland that doesn't have a beer garden will have punters hanging around the doors smoking and may be a little more animated if they have a few jars in them. We just have not been used to this environment in Ongar up to now.

I think it might be premature to say that Ongar has deteriorated since the pub opened without factual evidence. Just because you/I may not like the look of someone, unless you/I see proof of trouble/damage, should we not give everyone the benefit of the doubt?

I still see the pub's addition to the community as a plus. While I may not plan to be a frequent regular there, it's nice to know Ongar residents have the option of going there (to watch a match, meet a friend or take a break from the house etc). I had a rivetting conversation with a stranger the other night about everything from bank bailouts to understanding the appeal of Jedward as well as watching Rory McIlroy clean up in the golf. It made a great alternative to sitting at home!

i ahve to ask does anyone know what the story with wallis property management is my head is wrecked with them i am here three years and there has been no agm

Also on the pub the staff seem nice the beer is cold, the seats are comfy the screens are big enough the music is a bit old but for a few on an evening its good for me, people will always be noisy after a few, its unfortunate but thats life, i do feel for people in the village but there was always gonna be a pub somewhere here. Anyway i enjoyed my night in it but i dont get the vip lounge pub is too small for that lever of discrimation at an early stage in my opinion

Out for my usual walk around the ring road with the wife,dropped in to Dunnes for a few bit's. Live music in the Pub,a bit of trad/folk not a bad group. Is this a regular thing on Sundays,if so will go again.

Yeah me and my family play music there. We were missing two people last week, they should be back next time. We're hopin it becomes a good session in time. Glad you liked it, hope you introduce youself to us next time! Might even get you to sing a song if you're up for it!

I don't believe it is closing down. I read an article recently about several retail properties in Ongar including the pub and Paddy Powers building going for sale. It's the properties as investments that are for sale (the tenants renting them are unaffected).

I do wonder how the pub is doing though. After a few visits when it first opened, I think I've been there just once in the last 12 months on a Friday night and it was quite empty ( I can only imagine what it's like on week nights). It's actually a nice pub visually, but there is just not enough of a draw factor for me. I guess many of my friends are scattered around Dublin so we just agree to all meet in city centre pubs to socialise as it's more convenient even though transport home is more awkward and expensive.

the odd head a ball outside put me off. Look like peeps who aint from about, Plus i wouldnt class the bar men as exactly friendly. theres no real atmosphere like you get in the pubs in dunboyne or the grasshopper.

It is the pub lease itself that is for sale by receiver so unfortunately it seems that the business itself has gone tits up. The pub licence itself hasn't been renewed either by the looks of things.

I'm new to d15 and tried this place out recently. Their facebook page makes it seem promising and lively, but i was really disappointed. The bar staff are friendly, but that's about it. The waitress that served me was extremely common, had an attitude and clearly didn't want the effort of working. She got my order wrong, and when my food eventually arrived (after her errors which she was unapologetic about) - it was slightly cold. I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't bother complaining. I understand that it may not be her 'ideal' job but a little bit of customer service and a smile would go a long way rather than being greeted with a grumpy face and bad manner. The place itself was extremely quiet, no atmosphere. Might try the paddocks in clonee, I've heard that's better!

Oh my! I worry you about you in amongst the commoners of Clonee (and indeed the wider D15).

Common....that's a pretty harsh (and subjective!) observation, SilverStones. Fair enough re the service and even re the waitress's manner in terms of her being unapologetic about her error, but "common" is a bit too personal, IMO.

I find the pub's atmosphere is a lot better since they started doing food after the change of ownership. The demographic is a lot more varied now. I just always feel like they don't have enough customers to have a buzzing atmosphere...it works in my favour when we go in there for a family meal because it's not overly busy, like The Paddocks can sometimes be on a Sunday, IMO. It's not a hopping place for a night out, though.

I'm still glad to have it all the same.
