Just to make everything look ok, here's my post from the other thread:

Ok, since I got first pick, I'm gonna pick....

    Triple H

I picked Triple H for a few reasons: one, he is my favorite wrestler and has been for years. Two, if I was to build a promotion of my own, I'd want to have him to help build stars (no burying jokes please) and he's pretty solid in the ring. Thirdly, I picked him tactically, if I have him, no one else can have him!

I did think about making a very different, more shocking/questinoablr first choice, but I'm 99.9% sure (s)he'll still be available for my second pick, so I went for Hunter!

Shocked? I doubt it, lol! Furious-Red, its your go!

My pick goes to the jabroni beating, pie eating, trailblazing eyebrow raising peoples champ the ROCK.

First pick goes to the Rock because he was one of the big two in the Attitude era and one of the most charismatic and popular superstars of all time.

He's one of the greatest on the mic, which more than made up for his less than spectacular in ring skills.

No one else can manipulate a crowd like the Rock, he's good as a face and gets real heel heat. See the concerts he did in late 2002/2003

    OH HELL YEAH!

My first pick is arguably the biggest star of the Attitude era, none other than the Texas Rattlesnake Stone Cold Steve Austin! What?!

Austin 3:16 says I just kicked your ass!

    Gimme a hell yeah!

    WOOOOOO….
    Flair.jpg

My first pick is undoubtedly one of the greatest wrestlers ever to grace the ring, with a career in professional wrestling spanning 36 years (Debuting in AWA in 1972).

I picked “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as he is a talented wrestler who has had a long and successful career, being one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time. Not only can he prove himself in the ring, but also on the microphone. His charisma was shown right up until his retirement at Wrestlemania 24.

“To be the man, you’ve gotta beat the man.”

“A kiss stealing, wheeling dealing, jet flying, limousine riding, son of a gun.”

“This ain’t no garden party, brother, this is wrestling, where only the strongest survive.”

“Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because it’s the best thing going. Wooooo!”

My turn. I am really thorn between going for the obvious and going for the one that I think is the best deal. Anyway here it is:

    6500376

The British Bulldogs- The Dynamite Kid and the British Bulldog

By making them my first pick, I've got a guy in Bulldog who at his peak was very good in the ring and and a guy in the Dymaite Kid who as a singles wrestler can arguably be called the best ever.

Combine the 2 and you again arguably had the best tag team of all time. Here's a quick rundown on both of them:

    Dynamite Kid

Someone hinted in another thread that I'd pick Bret Hart. Then it occurred to me why don't I pick the guy who Bret in his book proclaimed was the best ever and get another really good guy on top of that?!

As bad as he seems to have been out of the ring, he was equally as good in the ring a decade or maybe even 2 decades before his time.

For those that have never seen Dyamite Kid, treat yourself to this video that features matches from 20- to 25 years ago.

Here's some of the awards he's won for his work too:
    * Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards

    * Match of the Year (1982) vs. Satoru Sayama
    * Most Underrated (1983)
    * 5 Star Match award: vs. Satoru Sayama on April 23rd, 1983
    * Best Flying Wrestler (1984)
    * Best Technical Wrestler (1984) - tied with Masa Saito
    * Tag Team of The Year (1985) - with Davey Boy Smith
    * Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame (Class of 1996)

    British Bulldog

He was not as good as the Dynamite Kid. That's obvious. But when he was on his game, the guy could be involved in some great matches. Just some that come to mind are his matches with Michaels, Owen Hart, Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect.

Here's a 5 minute clip from his match with Shawn Michaels at Saturday Nights Main event in the early '90s:

Basically to sum up, neither have had happy endings to say the least but in an imaginary draft, I couldn't think of a better pick in terms of pure ability in the ring as these 2 in their prime.

Ok then, my first pick is none other than HBK himself, Shawn Michaels.

Shawn has been one of my favourite wrestlers of all time who has always got great matches out of anybody he's wrestled. He's got one of the best intros in the business and is fantastic on the mic. The first grand slam champion is gonna superkick anyone who gets in his way and if you're not down with that i've got two words for ya........

    My first pick..........

    ANDRE THE GIANT

Yups. A legitimate draw across the world, in addition to being a genuinely impressive performer in his prime, and a star of one of the greatest movies ever made.....
Andre travelled the globe, as one of the most positive examples in history of a pro-wrestler as a spectacle, and made bucketloads of cash. additionally, in his prime, he was capable of handling himself in the ring, and performing good quality big man matches, that appealed to a wide array of fans.

    Kurt Angle.

    A Badass Heel
A Face for the fans to truly to get behind.
    Intense in-ring promos.
    Hilarious backstage skits.
    Supreme mat-wrestling.
Moonsaults off the top of a steel cage.

Whatever a promotion needs, this man could provide it all.

    Its true. Its damn true!

It really doesn't need much of an explanation. Anyone who has seen Kurt Angle in the ring can tell he is one of the greatest all round performers to ever step foot in the ring. Even in the fickle world of internet wrestling fans its hard to find any disputes to the mans ability.

    The Undertaker

From the silent, stalking dead man who built caskets in which he planned to bury his 'victims', to motorbike riding American Bad Ass who loved nothing more to kick ass, The Undertaker has lasted long over a decade and had audiences worldwide in the palm of his hand for the entire duration.

Even after introducing his former wife to the TV audiences and having comedic sketches with his 'brother' Kane, the Undertaker can still revert back to a lonely, deceased man with no third dimension to his character and still have the crowd chant his name.

The Original Deadman displayed his devotion to his gimmick.

The Phenom showed us his vindictive, evil, punishing side.

The American Bad Ass learned us of his great and realistic talking ability (Mic-work)

The Deadman shows us that he can introduce a whole new style of wrestling (grappling, takedowns, submissions) at his age and perfect it.

Undefeated at WrestleMania, A Royal Romble winner, WWE and World Champion...

Dead or Alive... Its still his yard.

    [/cheesiness]

"The Best There Is, The Best There Was and The Best There Ever Will Be"

    71.jpg

Every roster needs a top babyface and my first pick is going to be one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of the WWE, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart.

Bret Hart is undoubtedly one of the most technically sound wrestlers of all time who had the ability to work with 'big man' wrestlers (Diesel, Bam Bam Bigelow) as well as smaller guys (1,2,3 Kid). He was also a dedicated pro throughout his career and an inspiration to his locker room.

    Notable achievements:

    - 5 time WWE champion
    - 2 time Intercontinental champion
    - 2 time Tag team champion
    - Hall of Fame inductee

With this pick I'm getting a guy popular around the world, who can offer superb matches in the ring, a guy who takes his craft seriously and someone I know I can count on.

"The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich

Kerry was far and away the best wrestler of the Von Erich family. He had buckets of charisma, a great look and the in-ring skills to hang with the best around. He was the second youngest NWA World Heavyweight champion at the time that he won the belt at the age of just 24

When he was 22 he had a great two out of three falls match with Ric Flair for the NWA title. Think of how many 22 year olds could be put in a situation like that today and do so well

The unfortunate thing when it comes to Kerry is that he could have gone on to even bigger things if it weren't for what happened outside the ring. He held the NWA title for less than a month because the NWA didn't trust him with his drug problems. He also had his foot amputated in 1986, yet was still able to wrestle some awesome matches, including an AWA/WCCW title unification match with Jerry Lawler

Kerry in his prime would be a superstar today

    Notable Achievements:

    WWF Intercontinental champion
    NWA World Heavyweight champion
Numerous NWA and WCCW tag titles
    WCCW World Heavyweight champion
    Numerous NWA regional titles
Participant in the Wrestling Observer's feud of the year for 1983 and 1984
Participant in the Wrestling Observer's match of the year for 1984

Only tribute video I could find that didn't either consist of a load of photos of him as a kid or clips of him riding a horse half naked

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,840 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

    my pick is....Hulk Hogan!

The Six-time WCW & Six-time WWF/E Champion who also won two Royal Rumbles (1990 + 91) and was argueably the biggest name ever in Professional Wrestling who has been a massive draw in the WWE for the past 3 decades setting the standards for future icons of Wrestling like The Rock and SCSA. Be it as a Heel (Hollywood NWO Hogan) or a Babyface (The real American) Hogan sells, Hulkamania runs wild and, he is my promotions marquee name.

    someone had to pick him

    OOOOOOOOOOOH Yeah

    macho_man_randy_savage-126995.jpg

Had the WWF and Vince in particular not been so desperate to cash every cent possible from Hulk Hogan, they surely would have built the company around the Macho Man Randy Savage. He had a gimmick so great that it is still used today, cut great psychotic promos (funky like a monkey etc.). He was great in the ring (had what is generally considered the best Wrestlemania match ever with Steamboat) and has a large profile outside the world of wrestling. He also was one of the first main eventers to have a high flying finisher, now they are everywhere. He also lends great flexibility to my roster as he was both a great heel and face during his peak wrestling years. As part of his 6 title reigns (2 in the WWE and 4 in the WCW) he held the WWE belt for a year while Hogan was around, an unparralled victory over Hogan's backstage politicking. His acting career is also bigger than most of his peers, with his appearance in Spiderman ( a bigger grossing movie than Hogan's Rocky) being the highlight

Money money money money money. My first pick is the one and only

    54245ec01323f47i3.jpg

The Million Dollar Man - Ted Dibiase. Any company needs a believable top heel who the fans can totally get behind in hating. The guy was fantastic on the mic, and a bloody good in ring performer as well. Charisma to burn and a very inflential wrestler. Originally he would have been my second pick, but was afraid of losing him, so got straight in at number one.

    Jake Roberts

    jake-the-snake.jpg

The greatest wrestler never to hold a world title, mainly because he never needed one. He was able to connect with the crowd through his charisma alone, and didn't need a golden prop to get people to care about him. Instead, he used a live and dangerous animal. Jake Roberts was in many ways a precurser to Stone Cold Steve Austin, in that he was a hell raiser yet still a fan favourite. He also invented the DDT, which is now one of the most well-recognised manouvers out there.

Charisma, excellent in-ring psychology, brilliant promo work from the Snake Pit, and a huge snake. What more could you want?

Chris Jericho. Y2J was the first ever undisputed champion in the WWE. He is one of the best Heels in wrestling. His matches are excellent, his storytelling is above reproach. His promo's are entertaining and he can generate massive Heat.

Also with the ability to generate so much controversy just re-entering the wwe, he can easily become my Top Heel in my brand. He is also an excellent Tag team wrestler adding scope to my brand

My second round choice is none other than,
    Mr. Perfect

    07.jpg

A former two time WWE Intercontinental Champion, He is arguably one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace a WWE ring. Along with being a great wrestler, he was entertaining and humorous. Performing in many watchable, entertaining vignettes where he displays his perfection, he is a true star of WWE Wrestling. Even upon his return to the WWE squared circle in 2002, Curt Hennig was still an amazing in-ring athlete (and its just sad that we never did get Kurt Angle VS Curt Hennig).

In fact i think i could say, my pick really is...

    ...Absolutely Perfect.

    First Round: The Great One

    Round 2:
A badass heel with decent mic skills to be able to hold his own with the Rock. The Kind of heel can get serious heat from the crowd. So my Second Round pic is:

    The Ultimate Opportunist Edge!
Since his heel turn he has been main eventing and winning titles while the crowd have been booing him. Personally I preferred him as the goofy face, in the days of awesomeness with Christian. But as a heel he's had fantastic success. Also he's been in some of the most memorable moments in WWE history from TLC Matches to MITB

    All his achievements:
    * Insane Championship Wrestling
    o ICW/MWCW Mid-West Unified Tag Team Championship (1 time)[94] – with Joe E. Legend
o ICW Streetfight Tag Team Championship (2 times)[95] – with Christian Cage (1) and Joe. E Legend (1)

    o PWI Feud of the Year[97] – vs.Matt Hardy (2005)
    o PWI Feud of the Year[97] (2006)
o PWI Match of the Year[98] – with Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz - WrestleMania X-Seven, April 1 (2001)
o PWI Match of the Year[98] – with Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz - SummerSlam 2000, August 27 (2000)
o PWI Comeback of the Year (2004)[99]
o PWI Most Hated Wrestler of the Year (2006)[100]
o PWI ranked him # 2 of the 500 best singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 2007.[101]

    * Southern States Wrestling
o SSW Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Christian Cage[citation needed]

    * World Wrestling Federation | World Wrestling Entertainment
    o WCW United States Championship (1 time)[102]1
    o WWE Championship (2 times)[103][104]
o WWE Tag Team Championship (1 time)[105] – with Rey Mysterio
    o WWF/E Intercontinental Championship (5 times)[106]
    o WWF/E World Tag Team Championship (11 times)[107] – with Christian (7), Chris Benoit (2), Hulk Hogan (1), and Randy Orton (1)
    o World Heavyweight Championship (3 times)[9]
o King of the Ring (2001)[10]
o Mr. Money in the Bank (2005)[38]
o Mr. Money in the Bank (2007)[70]

First Round pick Macho Man Randy Savage

    Second Round Pick..........

    Bruno Sammartino
    sammartino-medium.jpg

Before Stone Cold there was Hulk Hogan and before Hogan there was Bruno Sammartino. He is the first two time WWWF (the predecesser of the WWE) champ and held the title for a quite literally jaw dropping 11 years. Needless to say in the territory days (when the competition was far more fierce due to the amount of main eventers) he was the biggest draw. An absolute legend on the East Coast, New York in particular, the WWWF regularly packed out the Garden on his name alone and saved the company from financial ruin on numerous occasions. Considering he was a commentator after his career ended it has to be assumed he was very good on the mic as well. His feud with Larry Zbysko during the territory years is considered the best ever in the Northeast. He is also a member of the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame.

    "The boss is back."

    28.jpg

I said in the last round when I picked The Hitman that a top babyface was important for a roster and likewise so is a top heel, so who better to pick for my second round choice than perhaps the most antagonising heel of all time Rowdy Roddy Piper!

Piper in his prime was the most despised wrestler in the WWE and headlined the main event of the first Wrestlemania, alongside Paul Orndorff, squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr T.

Part of the brilliance of Piper was the creative methods he used to get the fans to turn on him such as the time, mentioned in his WWE DVD, when he was in the NWA and playing to a Mexican-heavy crowd in L.A who he had insulted previously. He promised to make up for his previous behaviour and play the Mexican national anthem on his bagpipes, but instead played “La Cucaracha” causing the Mexican crowd to be outraged.

While the 'Hot Rod' had many entertaining in-ring bouts in his career, he was just as famous for his 'Piper's Pit' segment which had many historic moments and is generally viewed as the best interview segment in the WWE, rather than the likes of Carlito's Cabana which followed later.

    Notable achievements:

    - Intercontinental champion
    - Tag team champion
    - WWE Hall of Fame class of 2005

    Awards:

    Pro Wrestling Illustrated
    - PWI Most Inspirational Wrestler of the Year (1982)
    - PWI Most Hated Wrestler of the Year (1984)
    - PWI Most Hated Wrestler of the Year (1985)
    - PWI Match of the Year (1985) with Paul Orndorff vs. Hulk Hogan & Mr. T
    - PWI Most Popular Wrestler of the Year (1986)
    - PWI ranked him # 17 of the 500 best singles wrestlers during the "PWI Years" in 2003.

    Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards
    - Best Interviews (1981) tied with Lou Albano
    - Best Interviews (1982)
    - Best Interviews (1983)
    - Best Heel (1984)
    - Best Heel (1985)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame (Class of 1996)

A legendary heel with tons of charisma, who managed to branch out into the mainstream and who is still adored and remembered by fans to this day, when those bagpipes play you know it's going to be a memorable moment. The Rowdy One is a true wrestling great and a worthy addition to any roster.

    First Round: Andre The Giant
    Second Round......

    Bill Goldberg

Yep, that's right. Goldberg. I never would have dreamt that the guy i've slagged off numerous times in the past would be my second draft pick. However, given who has been picked, and who is left to consider, Goldberg is a choice based on his widespread public appeal, and the legit drawing power he carried throughout 1998-99, before WCW cocked it up.
If i'm going to have a Monster of Andre's status and size, i need at least one believable opponent, and whom better than Bill? He connects with fans, and he can be terribly exciting when booked correctly, as a tremendous babyface force.

    Here's some achievements.

First Pick: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Second Pick: was going to be be Goldberg but was just beaten to it!

    So now I've picked:

    Rob Van Dam

This wrestler is truly one of a kind. Definitely one of my favourites of all time with a great innovative move set. He is a former ECW Television, Tag and Heavyweight champion as well as a former WWE Champion, he is Mr Monday Night, the Whole F'N Show

After about 5 seconds of deliberation, my second draft pick is:

    leonwhite.jpg

I'm not going to bother listing title runs or pro wrestling illustrated lists which to me aren't really relevant.

Quite simply to me, he was the best "big man" wrestler I have ever seen and at one point he may have been the best wrestler in North America at his peak. I enjoyed watching him in the WWE but if that's all people have seen of him they are missing a large part of this guys story.

At his peak he had everything, the look, the athleticism and maybe most important of all the beleivability factor.

Here's a run down of some of his achievements from the Observer:
    Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards

    * Best Heel (1993)
    * Best Wrestling Maneuver (1993) Moonsault
    * Wrestler of the Year (1993)
    * Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame (Class of 1996)

Here's some great action from In Your House 13 Fatal Four way match featuring Vader, Taker, Austin and Bret Hart:

Wow, Vince and the previous few picked quite a few legends, guess I'm gonna make my second pick a Legend Killer....

Randy Orton debuted just over 6 years ago (April, 2002) and in that time has become (along with Edge) one of the greatest Heels on WWE TV today. He is the son of Hall of Famer "Cowboy" Bob Orton and the grandson of Bob Orton Sr. He is also a former two time WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion (youngest ever), Intercontinental Champion and World Tag Team Champion (with Edge). Orton is a huge asset to any roster and that is why he is my number two pick.

    Terry Funk

I've already got my top face so now it's time for my top heel. And what a heel

Terry Funk has had a career that's spanned five decades, three major countries and different styles. When he started out he wrestled a southern style and this evolved into the hardcore style that he innovated in the 90s. He was the first foreigner to be considered a face in Japan, yet he was also the cause of many riots as a heel, even getting stabbed in the neck by a fan one time

He had incredible feuds with Ric Flair and Jerry Lawler in the 80s where he was just as good on the mic as in the ring. The NWA made Funk their main colour commentator for two years on practically all their broadcasts due to his ability on the mic

    Some of his accomplishments include:

A year and a half reign as the NWA Heavyweight champion
    Two ECW Heavyweight title reigns
Three times winner of the All Japan World's Strongest Tag Team League with his brother Dory Jr
One of the first NWA US champions
WWF tag team champion with Mick Foley
Voted as the best heel, the best brawler, the best on interviews and the best feud (with Flair) in 1989 by Wrestling Observer readers
Also many other singles and tag titles along with being in many halls of fame

Here's a great video of when Funk turned heel after commentating on a Flair title defence:

    The Ultimate Warrior

    warrior.jpg

Ok, so we all know how this was one of the most unstable and unprofessional wrestlers to have ever stepped into a WWF ring, but he was also the biggest thing in wrestling at the height of his fame. His match with Hogan was incredible. The story telling between the two had the crowd screaming their lungs out. The fact that the two of them sucked royally doesn't even enter the equation. He was overwhelmingly charasmatic in the ring, and had his own, eh, unique promo style that (bizzarely) went down well with the crowds. At the end of the day, its all about keeping the fans happy. It almost defies logic how over this fella was. Yet he probably has more of that indescribable "X" factor than anyone else in the history of wrestling.

He was also the guy who thought HHH how to squash people.

Ok so being number 19 to pick in this round has been tough. I have seen 9 of my desired choices get picked while I sat helplessly by. But having to wait has it advantages.

I originally wanted a top face to go against my number one pick Kurt Angle. But the more I thought about the more I realised, people want to cheer for Kurt...so let them.

Now I need an antagonist. All the good ones seem to be gone. Then there was a rule clarification in the other thread and a door opened. Why settle for one antagonist, when I can have two. On their own I'm not sure if they would quite make the grade...but collectively...

Between them they have held 4 tag team titles,8 Intercontinental titles, 2 European titles, 1 King of the Ring, 2 Slammy awards and, in a possibly controversial move, 10 Heavyweight Championships outside of the WWE.

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the tag team of.....

    Owen Hart & Jeff Jarret

My third pick is a man of many hats, wrestler, colour commentator and manager. He is the perfect addition to any locker room. He built up Ric Flair's WWE debut with some of the most awesome promos in wrestling history and is the kind of mouthpiece you want to help build major stars. If you haven't figured it out yet, you're a disgrace to wrestling fans around the world.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Bobby "The Brain" Heenan!!!

This is purely tactical. Former WWE tag team Champions Matt Hardy & MVP

    matthardy.jpg & mvp.JPG

Not the greatest tag team of all time, but indivually it is hard to argue with the merits of either. Its like a free pick :)

I will put a youtube etc tomorrow. Too tired now.

    The Big Show

    big_show.jpg

Named by Ric Flair as the best big man in the business, my 5th pick is the World's Largest Athlete, Mr. Paul Wight.

Obviously, the guy is very impressive physically. When booked right, he can come across as unstoppable. Upon his return, he looked like he could legitmately kill anyone on the roster. He was put in a four-on-four tag match with the top names in the company and dominated them all. He is also versitile as a competitior. He is a former Hardcore and ECW champ, so he is no stranger to match-types involving weapons. He is also a former tag champ. He also has another rather underutilised side, which is his wit. The last time he was on the Highlight Reel, the man out-funnied Chris Jericho.

My third pick is none other than the PEEPle's Champ and Captain Charisma, Christian!!

Admittedly WWE dropped the ball with him and he only really began to excel when he moved to TNA and started the Christian Coalition with Tomko and AJ Styles.
    WWE Career
    World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1998-2005)

    The Brood
When Reso came to WWF and WWE, he shortened his ring name to Christian. He made his televised debut at the September 27, 1998 pay-per-view entitled In Your House: Breakdown, distracting Edge during his match against Owen Hart to reveal his allegiance to Gangrel. He had some early singles success, capturing the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship[8] in his debut match. However, his real success came while wrestling in the tag circuit. Christian, given the character of a vampire, formed a stable with Gangrel and Edge, who, in storyline, was finally persuaded to join what became known as The Brood. The Brood briefly feuded with, then joined, The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness, but upon learning that Christian was beaten down into telling Ken Shamrock the whereabouts of Stephanie McMahon, Undertaker wanted to punish Christian. More loyal to the Brood than to the Ministry, Edge and Gangrel turned on the Undertaker and rescued Christian.

    Edge and Christian

The Gothic angle was successful, but soon after, Edge and Christian began to reach their full potential. They split with Gangrel, who associated himself with the Hardy Boyz to form the The New Brood. On October 17, 1999, at No Mercy, Edge and Christian competed against the Hardy Boyz in a Ladder match as part of the Terri Invitational Tournament. Although the Hardys won the match, the careers of both tag teams soared, and fans gave them a standing ovation.[4] After a run as faces most notable for their tendency to approach the ring via the audience, Edge and Christian redefined themselves as a bumbling comic duo of surfer/teenyboppers. They were most known for their "five second poses" ("for the benefit of those with flash photography"), which mocked either the opponents or city in which they happened to be. They repeatedly captured the WWF Tag Team Championship[9], as well as winning a Triple Threat Ladder match and two TLC matches.

Friction arose within the team after Edge won the annual King of the Ring tournament. Christian appeared to be jealous, insisted on carrying Edge's trophy to the ring and assaulted his tag team partner Edge after he had lost a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match to The Rock in September 2001. The former partners feuded over the Intercontinental Championship for several months, with the title changing hands several times.[10]

    Singles competition
The Un-Americans (Christian and Lance Storm)

Christian began a singles career, winning the WWE European Championship from Bradshaw[11], later losing the title to Diamond Dallas Page After this, he became known for throwing tantrums in the ring when he was unable to gain a pinfall. After a series of defeats, as part of his storyline, Christian announced that he was quitting the WWF. Page persuaded him not to quit and adopted him as his protegé. He later betrayed DDP and faced him for the European Championshi] at WrestleMania X8, but was defeated and once again threw a tantrum in the middle of the ring. Christian then formed a tag team with fellow Canadians Lance Storm and Test as part of The Un-Americans faction and then became the sidekick of Chris Jericho, with whom he once again won the Tag Team Championships.[9]

During this time, The Rock jumped to the RAW brand as a reward from Mr. McMahon for defeating Hulk Hogan at No Way Out. Christian befriended him and was therefore told by The Rock himself that Christian was "his new favorite WWE Superstar". Delighted to hear that from The Rock, Christian began using many of The Rock's mannerisms, which varied from calling his fans "The Peeps" (similar to The Rock calling his fans "The People") to using The Rock's one arm raised victory pose. He even called himself "The New People's Champion". During this time, he broke away from Chris Jericho and became The Rock's sidekick. He used his new found charisma to win a special nine man over-the-top-rope battle royal at Judgment Day for the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship.[10] The following night on RAW, he appeared on Chris Jericho's "Highlight Reel" talk show segment, sporting a new haircut and ring attire. The Rock confronted Christian on the "Highlight Reel" stating that The Rock is "The one and only People's Champion". Unhappy about this, Jericho and Christian assaulted The Rock, only to fall victim to the Rock Bottom and the Book End when Booker T made the save. Christian later dropped the Intercontinental title to Booker, but regained it at a house show after Booker was legitimately injured.[10]

Late in 2003, Jericho and Christian started to court WWE Divas Trish Stratus and Lita, as part of a bet (for one Canadian dollar) to see who could have sex with their target first. Although the girls found out about the bet, Jericho and Stratus stayed together for the time being, leading to Jericho and Christian's split over her in early 2004. During a match between Christian and Jericho at WrestleMania XX, however, Trish turned on Jericho, allowing Christian to defeat him. Trish then joined forces with Christian, becoming his on-screen girlfriend in the process. During a steel cage match against Jericho on May 10, 2004, Christian suffered a severe back injury, causing him to miss almost four months of ring action.[4] He returned on the August 30 edition of RAW, picking up where he left off and continuing his feud with Jericho.

    Captain Charisma

Christian's gimmick became that of a cocky, overconfident heel, although he was popular in Canada and the United Kingdom. He dubbed himself "Captain Charisma". On December 6, 2004, he was forced to wrestle as Captain Charisma, complete with a superhero costume, by Chris Jericho, who was general manager for the night. Christian was often accompanied by Tyson Tomko, whom he called his "problem solver", and usually won his matches with interference from Tomko or by some other method of cheating. He wrestled with The Hurricane as part of a tag team called "The Heroes," for one night, then faced The Hurricane the next week in a battle of the heroes. After this, the heroes aspect of the gimmick was dropped - though Christian continued to go by the nickname of "Captain Charisma". Christian was loosely paired with Edge again several times in late 2004 and early 2005. Despite being a heel, he acquired a fanbase, who he refers to as his "Peeps", "Peepulation" (a play on the word "population") or the "Christian Coalition" (which later became the name of his and Tomko's stable in TNA).

At the 2005 Royal Rumble, Christian had an encounter with John Cena and claimed that he was a better rapper than Cena. Over the next months, Christian began cutting promos denouncing John Cena as a 'poser'. Christian was noticeably cheered during these segments and was thought to be finally rising into the main event picture.[4] Soon after Cena came to RAW from SmackDown!, Cena went on to successfully defend the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match between himself, Christian and Jericho at Vengeance.

Between the run-ins with Cena, Christian participated in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21. He had a primary role in the parody trailer for Basic Instinct in connection with the "WrestleMania Goes Hollywood" theme at the event. On the June 30 episode of SmackDown!, Christian was the second-to-last man drafted to SmackDown! in the 2005 WWE Draft Lottery. He replaced The Big Show in a six-man elimination match for the new SmackDown! Championship, and lost to John Bradshaw Layfield. Christian had previously said in a promo that he hoped to be drafted to SmackDown! because the show needed a Canadian (though it had gotten one earlier in that same draft in the form of Chris Benoit). Christian bragged about how he was on the main event of both RAW and SmackDown! in the same week. Christian was soon given his own interview segment on SmackDown! called "The Peep Show."

    Departure from WWE

On October 31, 2005, Reso's contract with WWE expired. According to Dave Meltzer, he was asked on the spot to sign a new contract but declined to sign the contract. His last match occurred during the tapings for the November 4 edition of SmackDown! Despite his quitting, Christian appeared on RAW and at Taboo Tuesday, fulfilling his obligations to the company, as he was one of five SmackDown! superstars eligible to be voted Edge and Gene Snitsky's opponents by the fans. As WWE had already announced his departure, there were notable chants of 'We want Christian' during the match, ironic considering the fans had not voted him into the match (they had voted for Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy).

Contrary to prior rumors, Reso later claimed during his TNA debut speech at Genesis that WWE did not lowball him on their contract offer; in fact, supposedly, they offered him "a very hefty sum" to stay. He had made the decision to leave months before his contract expired and had agreed in principle to terms with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling prior to his departure. In that promo, Reso made several criticisms of WWE, citing the disproportionate amount of screen time allocated to Paul Levesque (Triple H) and the use of distasteful storylines, and claiming that WWE had become, like the now-defunct WCW before it, "old, boring, and lacking direction". In August 2006, WWE challenged Reso's attempts to trademark the name "Captain Charisma", saying that it will cause confusion in the marketplace because the persona was created while Reso was under contract to WWE. WWE feels that anything that Reso called himself in WWE belongs to WWE. As a result, TNA has stopped selling "Captain Charisma" merchandise until the issue was resolved.

From early 2007 onwards, Reso began calling himself the Instant Classic, suggesting that WWE has been ceded the rights to the "Captain Charisma" name. However, he does continue to be referred to as "Captain Charisma" in off-screen appearances and sometimes wears his "Captain Charisma" entrance jumpsuits to the ring at house shows.

With Christian I get a main event star with great mic skills who can work as a face or heel. And it all else fails I can reunite Edge and Christian, because they Reek Of Awesomeness,

    BEACUSE THATS HOW I ROLL

In my opinion, the Big Boss Man was one of the greatest men to ever set foot in a ring. OK, He was never a Kurt angle or a Chris Benoit, but for overall entertainment, i think he is easily one of the best. He was great at drawing heat from the crowd and was involved in some amazing storylines (including the infamous Kennel From Hell and Big Show's Father's storylines).

After a brief (but comedic) stint in 2001 when the alliance began to invade, Boss Man departed from WWE and was never to be seen again, sadly.

He was my overall favourite wrestler growning up and I just couldn't resist but pick him. An excellent heel.

Oh yeah, and Bull Buchanan's there, too. :pac:

    Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard

Two of the Four Horsemen, known as the Brain Busters in the WWF. Tremendous wrestlers both together and on their own. Arn was the powerhouse with the no-nonsense approach while Tully was more sneaky and probably more charismatic in the ring

Both were great on the mic too. Arn's promos were just like his wrestling style and Tully was just as good

    Some of their accomplishments:

    WWF Tag Team champions
    NWA Tag Team champions
Arn was an NWA and WCW TV champion and was voted as the best on interviews in 1990 by Wrestling Observer readers
Tully was an NWA US champion and was NWA TV champion for almost three years over three reigns

    And a couple of videos:

Some know him as successful businessman
Others as a financial advisor on TV.
Others now him as one half of one of the toughest tag teams to grace the WWE.
To some he will be remembered as the longest reigning champion in ten years.
    To me he is simply

    A WRESTLING GOD.

    My third pick is JBL

For me JBL was the top heel in the last 5 years. Firstly I was outraged that he was even getting a main event push, but then I was proven wrong and I just hated him because that was what I was supposed to. An arrogant pompous businessman with more money than the fans, he was made to be booed. He is dynamite on the mike and supremely effective in the ring.

He also can make you laugh.
