NFL DRAFT 2012

it does matter a lot of vicks picks are because he dosent see a cb over a lineman also it means you have to draft shorter linemen
He's still a top 10 QB in the league on his day (although you could argue that it's his athleticism that sets him apart) whilst Brees is in the top 3. My point is that a lot of QB's that are 5'11 - 6'1 are disregarded based on their height and thus their success rate is much lower but if you looked at the amount of smaller QB's that were given a chance of which did relatively well in the league, I'd say it wouldn't be all that much in the difference with tall QB's - I mean there's hundreds at 6'3+ who have tried and failed.
Put it this way, I'd have Wilson at 5'11 who looks to have a lot of talent and ability including his athleticism ahead of Osweiler who looks very, very raw in the draft.0 -
It's not just the height with Kellen Moore. It's his arm strength and athleticism combined with his height which means unfortunately for him the most he can hope for is probably to be a career back-up.
*Ahem*
Moore's arm strength is one of the great myths of college football. It's fine. He's no Jay Cutler or Matt Stafford, but his arm strength is no worse than Tom Brady's was coming out of college.
It's his gimmick offence, limited playcalling responsibilities, poor athleticism, questionable accuracy and height that are the problem.0 -
Great stuff to see Kellen Moore picked up so quickly. Great kid, hope he suceeds and maybe gets a shot to be a starter one day.0
-
Dolphins did good job picking up Texas A&M WR Jeff Fuller. Will be used to working with Tannehill and is a good WR.
Steelers wit a great pick-up for Marquis Maise from Alabama. He is a great punt returner and could be the next Antonio Brown.0 -

Yes he can throw a long bomb over the top of the defence, but that's not the only aspect of arm strength. I'll admit I'm not an expert on it but numerous people at the senior bowl commented on how strained Moore seemed when throwing the ball deep and how he had to put everything into it and even then it didn't arrive with pace. This meant that corners and safety's had chances to make plays on these passes. I like Kellen and hope that he has a good career as a back-up and then maybe puts some of that football knowledge into coaching, but in my opinion he lacks arm strength.
Also does he really have questionable accuracy? He completed almost 75% of passes last year and scored 43 TDs to 9 INTs. I didn't see too much off his games live so what makes you say he has questionable accuracy?0 -

I've no idea what Kellen Moore is like but that pass doesn't actually tell anything about his arm strength, well not terms of NFL requirements. Every QB in the NFL could make that throw, drop back then have ample time to take 3-4 steps up put the full torque and movement into the throw is pretty easy for a QB at that level. In terms of NFL level players will need to show they can put the required zip on the ball when standing with both feet planted having to mainly use their arm to generate the required speed and not mainly their body.0
-
Questionable accuracy? The guy is like a laser pointer.
He's like a laser within 10/15 yards and when throwing to his left, but his accuracy suffers an awful lot with anything beyond that. He's from a gimmick offence that inflates QBs stats - loads of short, 10 yard throws and letting the receivers add what they can onto it. Which is fine, but in the NFL defences and linebackers are a hell of a lot better at that immediate coverage beyond the LOS than they are in the Mountain West! There was a tape collection posted on another forum that was a collection of deep (15 yards +) passes Moore made in his career, and they were very, very poor.0 -

I've always been happy with his arm strength any time I've seen him. He was never able to show it off a whole heap in Boise's system because it never really called for it, but he can put good zip on it albeit it will never be an elite level. There was a play against Georgia on the opening weekend last year where he absolutely rocketed a pass to I think it was Shoemaker. I remember the commentators laughing about it wondering where he'd been hiding that arm strength all this time. Whether he could make that pass several times a game every Sunday though is doubtful, and I guess once you bring accuracy into the equation, they just don't mix for him. But it's not a big a problem as people are making out, there are far bigger problems for him than arm strength.0 -

Browns or Jags for me, would probably go with the former due to what is an awful schedule.
Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, Philadelphia, 1:00 PM
Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, at Cincinnati, 1:00 PM
Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 23, Buffalo, 1:00 PM
Week 4: Thursday, Sept. 27 at Baltimore, 8:20 PM
Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, at NY Giants, 1:00 PM
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, Cincinnati, 1:00 PM
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, at Indianapolis, 1:00 PM
Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 28, San Diego, 1:00 PM
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, Baltimore, 1:00 PM
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 18, at Dallas, 1:00 PM
Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 25, Pittsburgh, 1:00 PM
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, at Oakland, 4:15 PM
Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, Kansas City, 1:00 PM
Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 16, Washington, 1:00 PM
Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, at Denver, 4:05 PM
Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, at Pittsburgh, 1:00 PM
They'll be lucky to get 2/3 wins out of that schedule imo.0 -

My money's on the Vikings and they'll go for Barkley
Did you watch them this season? They're record didn't sum up their season at all, they lost an awful lot of very close games and mostly due to Donovan McNabb sucking and teething problems for Christian Ponder. Add that they lost about half their starters on Defense to injury which left a completely decimated secondary. They have also just had a (consensus) very good draft.
Best case scenario is that Ponder shows all the good glimpses from last year consistently and they snatch a wildcard spot. Worst case scenario is he shows all the bad parts from last year consistently and they're in for a new QB next April. Either way they'll win 5 games minimum. The team is fine outside of QB. Favourable schedule also0 -
Biggest disappointment in this draft will be Maurice Claiborne. When your own coach trades down rather than draft you, things aren't looking good.
Worth the risk for a potential shutdown corner, but if he has the adjustment issues that everyone is predicting then it will be a big blow to that defence.0 -
The Ravens sign UDFA Kent State defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen. He is a a 6-foot-1, 334-pound nose tackle.
What an apt name. The Fridge, The Freezer, now The Kitchen0 -

As a Cowboys fan but also pointing out the reality of the situation , you are absolutely wrong , Mo Claiborne by most peoples reckoning on the consensus board , is the No 3 prospect. Only the two quarterbacks were ahead of him . The Browns were desperate for a runner to take pressure off theis future QB Weedon, the Vikes needed picks and also need a Left Tackle slightly more than a Corner and the Jags had to have Blackmon. That is why he slipped to 6 , which in itself was value for Dallas, that we had only to give a 2nd rd pick to the Rams is brilliant business to go up 8 spots
As to Claiborne not being picked by his own coach the Bucs traded to 7 for Barron . Is anyone actually saying that Barron is the stronger prospect , maybe in Tampa but not anywhere else. This is a reach by Schiano. Walther said it very well unless a prospect is Ed Reed or Eric Berry you dont draft one in the top ten . Barron is a classic thumper who struggles in coverage, Ed Reed loves coverage , and plays like an auxiliary corner who is as likely to intercept as a corner. Barron isnt this so i think there is little between him and Harrison Smith who is a reach at 29 . Claiborne is a shutdown guy.... on his second contract he will have to get Brandon Carr money , Barron will be getting Safety , a difference of 5 mill a year at least ....btw the Rams great pick of Janoris Jenkins is going to put egg on Bengal and Patriot faces ...great corner0 -

Would have liked Claibourne at the Bucs and was a little dissapointed we missed out. But we have to look at the bigger picture here, that trade enabled us to jump back into the first round to take Martin and also enabled us to move up from 3rd round to take L David, one of these two was tipped to go to us in the 2nd and becasue of trade in 1st round we were able to get both.
Great piece of business in my opinion, obtaining 3 starters in need positions.
Although i still am a fan of Claibourne but was very happy the way it panned out.0 -
Dan Di Lella has been offered a tryout for the Jets. Pity that he went undrafted when rumours had someone drafting him in the 7th or taking him as a UDFA.
Still its a shot for the guy who had no football future only 3 months ago. Hope he makes it to a roster or practise squad this year. (Hopefully not the Jets as no-one ould wish that circus on a rookie)

Matt Simms signed with the Titans. Hopefully he can make it as a back-up QB.0

There was no way Claibourne was the no 3 prospect. He was at best no.5 on most boards, and a lot of people had Blackmon ahead of him. The Vikings, Bucs and Rams all couldve done with a corner yet all passed on him.
The clear consensus board after the college season was finished was 1. Luck 2. Kalil 3. Griffin 4. Richardson 5. Blackmon 6. Claibourne.
Griffin moved up a spot after people say how much teams were prepared to pay for him, and Blackmon's stock fell a bit0 -

Im not sure just shy of the draft that was the consensus , i would think Claiborne was slightly ahead of Kalil if not a tie with the large investment being made in Ponder meant that the larger investment had to be made in the Offensive Line
Certainly i heard very little argument saying Blackmon was the bigger talent.0 -

The clear consensus board after the college season was finished was 1. Luck 2. Kalil 3. Griffin 4. Richardson 5. Blackmon 6. Claibourne.
Griffin moved up a spot after people say how much teams were prepared to pay for him, and Blackmon's stock fell a bit
I think time will only tell but Claiborne imo is the best Corner to come out since Joe Haden in 2009 . He is light years ahead of Peterson and he was a high pick so i think Pick 3 or equal 3 on the consensus board is about right .0
