Would you guys think that Warmack would last past the 1st round?

Neither Warmack or Cooper will be! No chance!

Is there any chance at all of this? I was thinking that he might be under consideration for 10 overall, would be very surprised if he was there in the second.

I think there is a chance maybe not a big chance though. I really doubt he'll be taken in the top 25 and depending on team need from 25 to 41 he might be there for our second round pick.

I've seen recent mocks that have him going between 10-15. People seem to be predicting a Stephon Gilmore like rise for him.

He's not as good as milliner and Rhodes, and I can't see all three going in the top 15. Stranger things have happened though

Would agree on Milliner, not so sure on Rhodes though. His combine numbers have shot him back into the high to mid 1st round after his tape had knocked him back towards the second. There's not much between the 2 imo.

I put very little stock in the combine as long as they dont bomb it completely.

Same, I'm referring to Rhodes rather than Trufant though. I think Trufant owes his rise to a combination of the Combine and the Senior Bowl. In Rhodes case I saw him very high on a lot of boards at the end of the 2011 college football season. However he seemed to gradually drop throughout 2012, I think his impressive combine numbers have helped his rise back up boards.

Is this the coaching staff just doing their due diligence or could we be looking at taking a WR in one of the first three rounds. Unless Washington goes I think we have good numbers there. However there is likely to be a lot of good WR talent available in rounds 2 and 3 in this draft.

Yeah seen that earlier, i would imagine they'll work out quite a few people.

I mean in the first round there are 9 people picking before us, in the second round 32 have picked before us, who knows what will happen!

Titans have signed another D-line man Ropati Pitoitua from the Chiefs he's 6'8 and 315 lbs, another run stuffer it seems!

It seems on this according to Titans sources, that he is going to play DE rather than DT..

Ye are signing up lots of ex-Jets which is good :P

Ropati is not a bad rotational player. Issue since day 1 is the he plays too upright and can easily be nullified.

Titans have Brandon Stokley - Broncos and Kevin Walter - Texans.

Would add depth, Stokley could push for a starting spot perhaps

If we sign another guard id have doubts of us going for onr in the draft.

Yep am thinking that myself tbh, though we have lost 2 on the O-line, Amano would be cut i'd say so it's still more probable than we still go with Warmack but it does raise some more questions if we do.

Some chatter today that if the Titans have the option of Cooper and Warmack they'll go with Cooper

I know Cooper has had an amazing combine and pro day.... but I'd still take Warmack.

I know Cooper has good tape as well as being a workout warrior but Warmack's tape portrays him as a serious special player. I think Warmack is the much safer choice. . .

So if we dont go guard at 10, where do you think we'll go?

So if we dont go guard at 10, where do you think we'll go?

I no longer think we are definitely going to go Guard. I think we'll take best player available for corner or pass rush if we don't go guard. I'd be surprised if we go safety in the first now considering the depth we added during Fa, albeit it short term depth.

Rhodes or Trufant is a possibility for our first although I think neither are worth the top 10 pick. Ansah maybe if he's available. Remember the giants jumped us to pick JPP 2 years ago so we might go for the athletic freak this time.

I Wonder if moving up for Miliner is an option?

Corner, pass rush and Right Guard hopefully will be addressed with our early picks.
Then maybe a linebacker, a second corner, a pass catching tight end with our middle picks.

And then 3 projects with out late picks, S QB, WR/HB maybe.

It's very hard to see how we are gonna approach the draft, we signed a lot of players but a lot of them have question marks so we might still hit some of them areas in the draft.

I almost completely agree with what you're saying about the first pick there. The only other position I think we might look at is DT. I don't think it's a glaring need as we have decent depth and some pretty good players like Jurell Casey and the recently signed Sammy Hill. However I wonder if Star Lotulelei or Shariff Floyd are still available at 10 would we consider them?

would you guys not think that we'd still go with a guard just to have an awesome O-line?

Given that it will(should) promote a very good offense is it still worth spending the pick on and then taking a DE/CB in the 2nd/3rd or even switching that around.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,666 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Ravens picked up Huff for a 6 million 3 year deal, we missed a good player for peanuts there!

I think with Munchak being HC and Matthews coaching the O-line there may be a feeling that they can identify guys later in the draft and coach them up, however it's possible that hasn't worked out for them a they might have hoped. That being said I wouldn't mind if we got someone like Larry Warford in the second round if we go with a different position in the 1st.

I still want us to take Warmack, but it just looks less likely every day.

I'd like for us to take Warmack, best DE end available for our 2nd pick and then take a chance on Matheiu with one of our thirds.

I still believe that taking a Guard has the best knock on affect to the rest of the team.

I was actually thinking about us taking Werner in the second round. I'm now seeing opinions that he isnt expected to be taken until the 3rd round.

    (10)Warmack -> (40)Carradine -> (70)Werner -> (97) Matheiu -> (107) BPA for a need -> (142) Tyler Bray as a project -> rest

Where are you reading that Werner is going in the 3rd. That's a very optimstic draft tbh. Carradine and Werner will both probably go in the 1st from what I have seen. Both are in play for Giants at 19 if we go DE

I was doing 'research' for my mock draft and came across the opinion on a few different websites. Im on my phone now so can't check. But I will admit it is a very optimistic draft

    Fair enough :D

Hunt would prob be there for ye in the 2nd not sure about the 3rd. Damontre Moore from TexasA&M is falling a bit as well. Would he be a good fit in your D?

I think he'd be a good fit with any D. He played DE in a 4-3 and linebacker in a 3-4 so one of his appealing traits is that he can fit with any team. Assuming he performs as expected he'd be an improvement to our pass-rush no doubt!

Some more chatter today around the Titans taking Floyd, i dont think so given the acquisition of Sammie Hill and Pitoitua. Marks is gone and given we'll probably take a DE in the draft lower rounds i cant see us taking him

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,666 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

So we've signed Kevin Walter a Wr and a new G/C spencer.

Spencer is for depth even though he's a first round pick. Amano must certainly be gone now, would expect velasco to get the starting C spot with spencer and turner. Presuming we still go for Warmack we'll have an excellent front line with depth!

On the Wr front we have a very big 6'3 target now, lets use him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,444 ✭✭✭Dohnny Jepp

Mayock has updated his top 5 at each position and he's moved tyler bray to number 5. I've said it all along he can be a special player. If he can grow up and leave his immaturity behind he can be something special.

I wan't us to take him late and develop him!

So the schedule and our new an improved team...

    @ Steelers (narrow win)
    @ Texans (Loss)
    Chargers (win)
    Jets (win)
    Chiefs (win)
    @Seahawks (loss)
    49'ers (loss)
    BYE
    @ Rams (win)
    Jags (win)
    Colts (loss)

    @Jags (win)
    Texans (loss)

Probably being a bit optimistic on a couple but 8-8 i think is very much achievable

  • Registered Users Posts: 253 ✭✭Heffo001

Webster said there are a number of different ways Titans could go with their first round pick. Then Munchak said he doesn't believe there is a big gap between Warmack/Cooper and the 2nd tier of interior OL. Could just be a smokescreen, but I've always been doubtful that we'll spend a top 10 pick on a Guard.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,666 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Yeah read that too Heffo, very interesting. It could well be a smoke screen it might well not be! Hard to know tbh!

Not much of a surprise, thoughts on the second?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,444 ✭✭✭Dohnny Jepp

I think we'll go BPA. Carradein and Taylor are top prospects that fill a need. and then Cyprien, brown and te'o are top prospects how would be day 1 upgrades.

  • Registered Users Posts: 253 ✭✭Heffo001

Not much of a surprise, thoughts on the second?

A trade back could be in order depending on whether or not there is a run on QBs at the start if the 2nd. If not I'm thinking DE or CB with WR as a possibility are the most likely.

We could do with adding another pass rusher and more depth at DE so Carradine, Moore, Okafor and Hunt could all be possibilities.

At CB I'm thinking Jamar Taylor would be ideal if he fell to 40th, but while I expected Banks to fall I think he would be excellent value at 40 as the Titans said they are looking at getting in a press corner and that's his game and he has great length. His team mate Slay could be a possibility as well.

WR isn't a major need imo but with the rumours about Washington and the possibility of Hunter or Allen still being on the board it could be considered. Maybe someone like Robert Woods or Quinton Patton as well.

Other than that there are some good DTs available. But we have good players at DT already and while I really like Short as a prospect I can't see that happening. Cyprien or Swearinger could be players to watch out for as well, but again we seem pretty ok in the Safety department.

Not sure about that, I love McCarthy as a player, but he's just injured to much. We definitely need LB depth, but I hope they take it in the middle or later rounds as I'm very happy with our 3 young starting LBs. Although there is good value available at LB so you could be right.

Another player I'm interested in watching from this point is Quanterus Smith, had 12.5 sacks through 10 games in 2012 before he got injured. Played mostly lowly opposition at Western Kentucky, however they played Bama this year. Played as well as any other pas rusher that played against that beastly o-line and got 3 sacks. Gave Fluker (Just selected 11 overall) and Kouandjio (expected to go 1st round next year, might have gone in the 1t this year if he declared) serious problems off the edge. Due to his ACL tear he han't been able to work out at all prior to the draft as far as I'm aware, but I think he could start to come into play now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 253 ✭✭Heffo001

So what do we think about Hunter? I like him as a prospect but I'm not too sure on giving up a 3rd next year to move up for it. After looking at some tape of prospects still on the board today I really like Jamar Taylor and am quite intrigued by Carradine. Also there would have been a good chance of Keenan Allen or Hunter falling to 40th overall if they had their heart set on WR imo. That being said I'm not disappointed by it either, high risk high reward.

I think the Titans have done really well the last couple of drafts. Lots of promising players who can start in the NFL. Maybe just lacking a star player so far, Hunter has the potential to be a star imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 253 ✭✭Heffo001

Pretty happy with day 2 as a whole. Hunter wasn't my preferred pick but I'm happy enough with it all the same. Really happy with the Wreh-Wilson pick early in the 3rd and another freakish athlete at LB in Gooden at the end of the 3rd will provide some much needed cover and possibly a rotation option. Would like another pass rusher and maybe a developmental QB in the next few rounds. An RB would be nice too as there are still some decent names out there. Pretty much all our needs filled though so now it should be fun to sit back and see what happens with the remaining picks.
