Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gift of a decision, he won the first by control, lost the second via the knockdown and was countered in the third as he plodded forward.

I had it 29-8 Umalotov but only because he was hitting Cathal with counters. I'm glad the judges scored it in favour of the more agressive fighter. Yes, awful fight but a win's a win. Aboy Cathal!!!

If he wasn't Irish he'd be dropped soon.

Lucky. Surely all of them stuffed takedowns scored something for Umalatov? He was on top standing up as well. All Cathal did was push the pace.

Defensive isnt a plus for scoring where agression is. Attempted takedown>stuffed takedown

Pendrad was the agressor in the third round, Umalatov brought nothing to the table in that round and just tried to stay clear of the takedowns and punches. If he had made any attempt to go for it for the last minute of the fight he probably would have turned the decision.

The sandbox for intelligence that is twitter has exploded with odd shouts of 'robbery'. Cathal unexcitedly won the fight 2 rounds to 1, I don't know where the faux outrage could be coming from.

Ultimately an awful fight but he's 2-0 in the ufc.

Really? Attempting and failing to take someone down consistently is better than consistently stuffing takedowns? Strange way of judging, never knew that.

Points are scored in all fights based on effective striking, effective grappling, aggression, and octagon control

It's very hard to back up a bigger man so Umalatov backed off and caught him with a few counters, I know octagon control is one of the criteria but not at the expense of everything else.

He landed as much as Umalatov but he was the one going for the takedowns and being more aggressive. Anyone who watches enough UFC knows Dana says never leave it in the hands of the judges and that was a classic case of it. If Umalatov had went for a few takedowns late in the round or came out fighting he would have won the round. Instead he just tried to defend the takedowns and get in the odd counter punch. He simply wasnt agressive enough. Glad Pendred won but cant see him lasting if he doesnt improve greatly on his stand up.

He had aggression for sure but his striking and grappling were far from effective. I get how he won, just think it could have gone either way.

Wasn't a great fight, Happy that Cathal got the result though. First fight back at Welterweight not convincing at all though.

    Fantastic submission defence there!

Always think Siver looks like a henchman out of Die Hard or something similar. Love when he starts unleashing those nasty kicks!

Still pleased to see Pendred keep the flame lit. Hes such a good ambassador for the sport in Ireland.

Happy Pendred won but he seems prone to rushing in and getting caught. A tough fight but a win is a win and I'm sure he'll be looking to tighten up his skills for his next fight.

Got in the door, turned on fight pass and saw Pendred getting his hand raised. Rewound and watched it, and agree that it was a poor performance. Umalatov is gonna be kicking himself he lost that fight.
