Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shssshh already. Can the mods move this back to obscurity for all our sakes? Pretty please?

Disagree. We need someone who joined this plan early to confirm if/when they get billed the full €30 amount.

Well I'm ringing them today as my year is up next month, if the tarrif goes up to €30.50 it's 30 days notice for meteor good bye

I'm not waiting for that to happen. I'm going to change the contract before that happens.

Here is the transcript(some of it) of the chat with some things omittied for the normal reasons.
    Meteor wrote:
Mags: Your next bill was issued on the 5th November and it is for €15.25.
ME: Okay, I mean what will my bill amount to in January after the 12 months expire?
Mags: XX, you are on 30 days contract, not 12 months contract. Your contract renews itself each month and you can change it at any stage to a different one.
ME: So in January I will continue to receive 200 minutes, 200 texts and 1gb of data? I'm asking this question so that IF in January I get bumped onto a €30.50 bill then I can show somebody the transcript of this interaction between us.
Mags: All right, you are asking me about the discount you have- I understand it now. That discount will be gone on the 16th December.
Mags: The discount had been added on the 16th December 2011.
ME: So, again, what will my bill be on in January?
Mags: Your bill in January will be 30 euro per month.
ME: So I need to cancel my contract today and rejoin for 15.25 per month basically.
Mags: To cancel the contract you would need to call our customer care on 1905 and speak to cancellations department, as they need to speak to you as the account holder.
Mags: Cancellations are open 9.00-17.30 Monday to Friday.
ME: Okay then. On Meteor.ie it says Bill Pay Sim from €15.25 per month but when I click on it the cheapest one is 20.33 per month. How so?
Mags: I have checked it for you and it looks like, that your plan, which you have now, is not available anymore.
ME: It's on the Meteor homepage though saying it is available.
Mags: It might be available in our stores still, but not online. That might be the case.
ME: No, it says "Get your Free Sim Now" and also on another page says "plans from 15.25 View Sim Only Plans(click)". It's online obviously. Check your own website. Go to Meteor.ie and click on Plans and on Bill Pay.
Mags: Yes, I did check it- when you click on that, it does not show the plan. I will report that error on the website to our online team. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

So....since this is up....what are the best deals that could compare with this?

    Any network

I'm interested to find out the same too as am going to go sim only in the next week. The €15 offer is well gone so what would be the next best thing on the other networks? Any codes knocking about ?

It will depend on each user, how many calls, text and data you need.

Meteor other 30 days plan are ok.

Three.ie €20 top-up as ready to go is good, all you can eat data. unlimited txt to all networks, included call to three users, no calls included during the week but free at weekend.

48.ie €20 all calls, text and a few gigs of data.

I was onto them today and was told there is no expirey on the 15.25 per month.
I have the chat log if they cause problems.

My wife had the €20 offer until this month, when the price reverted to €30 a month. She called today to cancel and was offered the €15 deal. It's still there, at least for existing customers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 498 ✭✭DermoMIO

remember when this offer came into effect they refused to give me the 15 offer as it was for "new customers only" was happy enough to get the 20 deal if my bill goes back up to 30 ill give them a months notice and move to 3. dont use any of what i get so no need to stick with them

I have been in PM's with the "Talk to Meteor" section of boards.ie and I can confirm they have facilitated something for me and my partner on the 15.25 a month tariff. I cannot divulge the PM, such is a PM, but they will "work with you" on the tariff you are on.

I'd start there. I messaged "Colm".

    I've just left 'em for 48. It's a no-brainer unless you need data roaming, which I don't.

For those who want to stay with Meteor, first give them your 30 days' notice in writing, wait a couple of days and then ring up and ask to be put through to the cancellations department. Ask them to confirm that they've received your written notice, then ask them if they're prepared to extend your deal — this will mean a new 12-month contract, though.

The T&C are the only thing that is legally enforceable; don't pay any attention whatever to what their "customer care" apes tell you, verbally or in online chat.
On expiry of the Term [i.e. your billpay contract], either party may terminate this Agreement on the giving of 30 days written notice and, in the absence of such notice this Agreement shall be deemed to continue on from month to month based on the Terms and Conditions herein.

My €5 credit expired this month, rang them up and she said that she'd have my €5 refunded next month and the credit reapplied to my bill. No problems what so ever. Thank you Jenn!

Thanks for the headsup. It made me check my account and it had lapsed for one of my accounts. I rang 1905 and brought this up with the CCR and without any sort of argument she reapplied it and gave me €15 credit because the direct debit had already taken the extra amount.

Did you get the €15 discount re-applied? I rang them today and they would only give me €10 off, even went as far as the retention department (who are fairly on the ball with other companies plans etc also had average usage stats etc)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,268 ✭✭✭✭uck51js9zml2yt

they put me back on 20 pm ...is the 15€ offer on? with 1 gb internet.

I see it now has none include!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 889 ✭✭✭A Law

My bill came by text as 20.33. I don't have the actual bill as its at home. I have a €10 and €5 discount. I presumed I lost the €5 discount after 12 months and rang them up. She said she'd reimburse me the €5 I'd lost and reapply the €5 discount. She was the first person I got on to. I presume I now have the 200 texts minutes and 1gb data

Yea my bill came to €25 for the first time last month (Normally €15). SO I rang up and with out any problems they reverted me back to the €15 and refunded me the difference for my last bill. Happy days.

Ugh, I just rang them and the guy wouldn't give me my 15euro plan back. I was going to threaten to cancel but I was afraid he was actually going to go through with it, and then I wouldn't have any plan.

I'd ring again and hope to get through to some one else who will do it for you. I thought I'd have to fight a little to get it, but I just asked and they did it no bother.

I thought about doing that alright. I didn't even bother asking the guy because he told me outright that the offer was up and he couldn't put it back on for me. I've just PM'd someone on the Meteor forum, so hopefully he'll get back to me soon!

rang earlier, managed to get it back down to 20 but not the €15 as that offer was over. didnt take much, just explained my bill was more expensive than last few months and they said they'd check if they could put me on lowest tarrif which they did. better than nothing i guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 364 ✭✭shivers27

I too was reverted back to the full price of 30 euro. Rang Meteor last week and was told, no problem, that they would put me back to the 15 euro plan. Checked my on line banking and 30 euro taken by Meteor. Have emailed Meteor there and waiting for reply ...

I dont look at my bills immediately, just pay whatever it is every 3-4 months. Happened to look at the bills today, no discount last month, only €5 discount the month before. Called them and they said they will give me €25 credit. Very sneaky.

You wait 3-4 months before paying a bill?

Can u only get this price if u were on it last year? I'm on the same deal but I'm paying 20 a month. Also, my first bill was 25 so I'd give it another bill to see if changes for those that were billed wrong.

    They did say this:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=81726331&postcount=1
    Hi Everyone,

There are a lot of promotions a deals offered with the Sim Only plans.
The half price discount is offered for 12 months then after that the original price will take effect of €30.50.

If you signed up to the plan for €15.25 is offered for life then it will continue on as normal.

If you like to send me a PM with your phone number and PIN I can organize a callback from our Sales Team and see what can be offered.

    Thanks - Colm

I just rang them there after getting a bill for €30.50
I had no problem getting changed back to €15.25 and getting a refund for the overcharged amount.

I hope the next bill in reflects this :D

Kajor, (Or anyone else who got them to agree to go back to €15)

Do you by any chance know who you were talking to who agreed to it? My friend was told it would continue without doing anything and then got the full bill and is having trouble getting them to get her back on €15.

I'm on the same plan from last year.

Your best bet is to ring up customer care and ask to speak with somebody from the customer retention department. I explained the scenario to the guy they put me through to and he applied the discount for another year.

I was told no problem in changing back
The bill however has dropped only to 20
Just of the phone and I have been assured that nobody is back on the 15.25 a month

Was on the €15 plan and it auto reverted to €25 last month. Called up to be put on the €20 plan and they wouldnt do it. FFS like what is with the inconsistency?

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭Kajor

There was a €15.25 for Life offer. I'd say that's part of the problem. If you didn't avail of this offer then it's likely that you are not going to get them to allow you to reduce your bill. However don't let that stop you calling them and asking for the Customer Retention Section where you can get to argue your case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 238 ✭✭cookiemonst3r

I wasn't allowed to go back onto the 15e plan either. Told them I was going to switch networks and they didn't care.

Rang them up there, put me back on the €15 plan, no bother.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 430 ✭✭Doodoo

Started on the €15 plan (€5 discount and €10 discount on bill) in jan 12 and in jan 13 my bill went up to €20 (only €10 discount applied on bill). Rang up and they added the €5 discount again which brought my bill back down to €15 and gave me €10 credit on my account for my trouble. They also said i may have to ring them back up if the €10 discount disappears off the bill. Each discount only stays on the account for 12 months. Just got my bill and its gone back up to €25 (only €5 discount applied on bill). Rang them up and they added the €10 discount back on to my bill so now i'm back to €15 per month.

The person i talked to this time said these discounts wont be applied again when they run out but maybe it depends on who you talk to.

Not only did they just renew & refund for the last month, they also agreed to send me out a replacement phone while mine is out the be repaired. This was my own phone I bought from Ibood so over the moon with that. Well done meteor.
