Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Very few details on the N9. Not even a screen resolution, just that it's 8.9"

No manufacturer either, though it was rumoured to be HTC

They kept the player quiet. Asus? I didnt read a single rumour about that at all!

edit:These devices are highly unlikely to have microSD card slots. Google hasnt had one in nexus device since the Galaxy Nexus, and android support for microSD cards is woeful.

Disappointed that there is no sd card. Damned rumour mill got my hopes up.

That looks really sweet I have to say. For those complaining about the price (it won't be cheap), you really do have to remember that this is truly a top of the range phone.

The camera has been bumped up to 13MP and more importantly the aperture is f2.0 (Note 4 and the iPhone 6 have an inferior lens at f2.2). Also the battery is 1.5x as big as older Nexus 5 battery, so that is a decent improvement.

    I was looking here http://www.google.com.au/nexus/9/

only mention of HTC is the boomsound speakers. No resolution given.

though 2048x1536 seems weird, an odd resolution.

    Android: And you: http://youtu.be/TRmgMe2STL0

That is seriously my favourite video right now, it's so happy.

I love at the end where it goes through the manufacturer names... And moto and sony and lg etc etc.

    And their slogan.

    be together. not the same.

The resolution is in the specs part of that page. You have to click to expand it and get the full specs.
It has a lot of details there..and crucially, it doesn't say anything about SD support.

True, I can't find any mention of HTC on that page but it's definitely mentioned in the blog and some pictures.

They got front and back mixed up on the specs. HTC does have a phone with a 13mp front facing camera though!

Looking through the Lollipop site I like this
Screen pinning: pin your screen so another user can access just that content without messing with your other stuff

    Bit disappointed by this tbh.
only 1gb ram 8gb internal storage and no ethernet.
Will be sticking with the pi at the telly for a bit till I see this in action.
And it's an intel cpu ?

No Lollipop love for the Nexus 4 it seems

Android 5.0 Lollipop, which comes on Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, will also be available on Nexus 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.

Its the same age as the Nexus 10 and is younger than the Nexus 7 so seems to have been left out in the cold

I hope this Player is around $50, $100 seems a bit much for a glorified Chromecast that can play games!

My Chromecast cost me £20 and it's one of the best things I've bought in years!

Link to the full spec list is here. Have to admit it's bloody impressive, though that price tag is a knock back.

I'd love to buy it, but at that price I really doubt it'll be anytime soon.

Damn €649, iphone and samsung territory there. No more cheap nexus devices. But it has killer specs though. And here was me thinking before I seen the price but seen the specs that I was sorry I bought the Oneplus one. Not any more though. Oneplus one is a great piece of kit it was really the higher resolution screen plus updated CPU+GPU that had me thinking I was sorry I bought it.

Really not liking the size of the 6. Hope they bring out a smaller version.
The size of the phone rules out any of the docking units I have in the cars and really think it's too big to be thrown into my pocket.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Are they still selling the 5 as well to have a cheaper pricepoint for a Nexus phone? If so this might be the way they do things in future as well for the Nexus range with a cheaper 5" device and a premium 6" one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,926 ✭✭✭beardybrewer

Anyone tempted to settle for a Nexus 10 now that the prices should come down? I just browse and use apps, no gaming or media really. Seems they are pretty cheap and still not a bad tablet for the price.

Android L (5.0 Lollipop) Developer Preview Builds For The Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Will Be Available On Friday, October 17th Clicky Linky

It looks like Google will be making the final developer preview available in just a few days. This will most likely be the final build and may be worth installing if you really cannot wait another week or two.

The Nexus 9 tab looks a bit fail tbh, as there's no micro SD expansion! That's a bit Apple of them :/ Can't see any current iPad users being swayed, as the new upcoming ipad airs will be around the same price.

Nexus devices havent had MicroSD in the last 2 and a half years since the original N7. I dont know why this is surprising people :/

Actually I dont think the Galaxy Nexus had any either did it?

    Or the Nexus S!

Google have been moving away from SD cards for a while now, much like Apple they want people to use Cloud storage more.

Why would anyone seriously expect an SD slot? I mean its a Nexus!! Tbh I'm liking it going to try it out in hand but I think it may well be my first tablet.

Sorry, I don't know everything there is to know about Nexus :D never had one. I do have an iPad mini, and was considering changing for my next pad - as I now have an android phone [a HTC, which is what got me interested in the new HTC/Google nexus, NOT the old ones] - which DOES have a micro SD slot ... who cares about their past versions? I'm talking about the new one, just because the older ones didn't have it, doesn't mean the new one shouldn't. I'm saying people like me, who currently own ipads, won't be swayed, not those who know it all about previous incarnations ;)

Did you not know the new one is made by HTC, even I knew this :P

Google aren't fans of expandable storage, so it doesn't play a part of Nexus devices for a couple of reasons. Why wouldn't iPad owners be swayed? I know one or two who are waiting for this to come out to replace their iPads. As for the know it all comment well I won't even justify that with a response.

I really really love these new Android Ads using the little Android characters.

It's seriously some great advertising, there's a phone for everyone, different sizes, different features but remember, they all run Android hence the "be together. not the same" slogan.

    Really excited for this.
