Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Think he's still recovering from the broken kneecap (all Ireland final). Heard hes walking around ok

Just on the road down now, looking at the strength of the team were fielding we can have no excuses. I expect it to be fairly high intensity and for us to come out on top with four or five points to spare. Can anyone confirm or deny: if Kilkenny and tipp are in the final, will it be on nowlan park?

AFAIK, it's in NP if it's KK v Tipp

slow start but we've really been on top since the injury stoppage. Lester Ryan has epitomised that. Few jitters in the backs, tommy and Murphy have been caught out a few times, Murphy in particular, though he obviously has less training under the belt. Tempers fraying just before half time, and the tipp crowd really getting rowdy, nicely set up for a cracking second half.

    KK fairly on top now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 677 ✭✭✭phkk

Well done KK, very effective. Eoin Murphy looks class in goal, his spot from now on. Lester Ryan, brilliant too. He has had some year between club and county. I thought Tommy and Paul Murphy came into it well after a shaky start. Larkin, Richie Hogan, Rice, Brian Hogan showed well also. Back to the clubs next weekend, can't wait!

Where does Tommy play for Tullaroan?

Could play anywhere really tbh, mainly midfield but has played wing back, centre back, centre forward, wing forward etc... You could see Tommy pop ip anywhere really on the hurling field!

just a puck around for kilkenny Galway were poor, and don't look like the team from last year. plus they have no fullback or centre field.

It looked like Cunningham was going into the book at one stage

Absolutely delighted with the performance today. KK were a good few gears higher performance wise than what they were during the group stages.

Very happy with Eoin Murphy in goal. He's really nailed that position down. Paul Murphy recovered well after a shaky start. Jackie struggled with Davy Glennon. I thought Kieran Joyce was very solid. Michael Rice was class for the first 20 minutes, then Lester Ryan was brilliant for the rest of the match. The two of them dominated midfield.

Richie Power and Richie Hogan were seriously on form today. None of the Galway backs could handle them. Power should have been a bit more clever with his goal chances. He hit them both very close to the keeper's hurl (still very good saves though).

Colin Fennelly and Walter Walsh played well, both very lively and went to run at the Galway backs as soon as they had possessiom. Colin was very clever the way he took his goal. I hope Walsh's arm is alright and that there is no serious damage.

Good to see Cillian Buckley make an appearance after being injured for a good while. He got stuck in when he came on and performed well.

Roll on the league final. Should be a good game against Tipp.

Just the highlighted bit there 3 times in the first half glennon got a free by throwing himself to the ground the first one the ballwent by him Jackie trapped it and glennon went to kick it and tripped over jackies hurly Another one the two of them contested a high ball shoulder to shoulder and glennon tumbled over after landing and was given a free. These frees wouldnt be given in an under 10 match.

    Haven't heard any news.
It happened when he was running towards goal and was pushed in the back. He fell awkwardly on his left arm. It looked like he hyper-extended his elbow joint.

went to hospital for scan on elbow, wonder will he be in action in the club this weekend in kilkenny.

watch again it was a belt from David Burkes Hurl on the elbow as he went down that had him go off.

Thats what I thought. He got the slap on his right elbow when he was hunched over.

Getting fairly sick of watching our lads getting belts that are sidelining them and the boyos who dish them out getting away scott free with the refs or even escaping a bit of timber in return themselves.

    Bring back John Power :D

Our lads will get their revenge where it hurts worst, the scoreboard. But I agree its becoming a pattern, refs will get punished for it though, I see wadding is no longer an intercounty ref.

That's a lot of culls in the refereeing circuit! Have they enough refs?

Being Sunday you'll be ok parking along the ring roads or if you want go up high street and park in the large car park at dunnes stores its a 10 minute walk from there

Get there early lots of parking from the ring road in. Dont park in any of the housing estates close by as there is a private clamping company doing the rounds and they like nothing better than to get unsuspecting visiting fans.

Did anyone make it to any of the club games this weekend? Heard that Ballyhale gave the Boro a hiding, although they did get the game back to four points at one stage, but Shamrocks had too much for them (this report is second hand, be interested to know how people who were there felt it went). Scary to think of Ballyhale being that strong when they are missing three inter county hurlers, but the Boro have a bad enough record against them (and, knock out stages last year aside, against most other teams too, but I am hopeful of them improving this year).

Heard the Village had a great win over Carrickshock as well. Clara beating O'Loughlins, great win for them, and Danesfort got a good win too over Comer, while Martins beat Tullaroan.
So...any reports? What was the result in the Fenians game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 677 ✭✭✭phkk

Fenians won by 6pts, JJ gave an exhibition at centre back and Conor Tobin was hugely impressive up front for them. Danesfort probably the shock result of the weekend and by the winning margin that they had.

    Fenians 1-17 1-11 Graigue Ballycallan
    Dicksboro 2-10 4-13 Ballyhale Shamrocks
    Clara 0-18 0-17 O`Loughlin Gaels
    Danesfort 1-16 1-6 Erins Own
    Carrickshock 0-13 1-12 James Stephens
    Tullaroan 1-10 0-15 St Martin's

Tough man is the bould Ritchie.

How would ye rate Carrickshock's chances in the club championship? Saw them last year and was impressed, losing Michael Rice was obviously a big blow.

Who do ye fancy to win it out?

Carrickshock can beat anyone on their day, but there's too much of a tail on the team to put together a championship run. They have the right top players with franks, the powers, etc, but lack the supporting depth. Hard to look past ballyhale in that regard obviously but by the looks of things, at this early stage, village look like major challengers again.

Martin's should be in the semis at least too, but they are like the opposite of shocks, plenty of depth but need a but of a spark to make them favourites in the big games. I expect them, village and ballyhale to make the semis dunno who else yet. Hopefully the Boro :-)

Boring but I can't see past Shamrocks, Shocks, Village for the first 3 semi's dependent on the draw. Would be surprised to see St martins in there.

Tullaroan for the drop but then again every year they manage to survive somehow (Tommy).

Very optimistic about Martins lots of players and ability lacking a little heart and soul. They need to draw a big gun for them to perform to their best. Maybe Charlie will do the trick

Yeah every year they're pegged for it and it just doesn't happen. I expect the same again this year for some reason.

Yeah, I know. I'm sure Carrickshock will be fine to make the knockout though, even with out Power.

That's not the same, that place is like some freaky super club. I mean rural clubs where Richie power types don't grow on trees like in terenure.

If Richie Powers grow on trees in Terenure then Anthony Daly really is doing a terrible job.

There isnt any seeding for the semi final. The top 2 in each group avoid each other in the quarters.
