Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Fo' real?

    Oh Fo' Sho' ....or something.

Last time I checked it said they'd reopen soon.
I'm sure by the time that Greenes re-opens Bistro 53 will have been a flop and changed to its next iteration.

No, this one replaced that chipper that no one ever went to.

I feel like I should tell them that if this one doesn't work out they should try buying a subway franchise. I swear they'd make the cost of buying the franchise back from me alone.

    Greenes will be back soon.

Greene's is gone. A new restaurant is going in there called Tannseys.

Any time I go to an ATM in Maynooth I always get harassed by junkies (Mostly women in their 40's-50's) for money. Told the last one to piss off because I work damn hard and she's sitting on her scratcher. I usually give the guards a ring too as it's illegal to beg within a certain distance of an ATM.

I've lived here for over 15 years and I have never once seen this happen.

I was in and out of Maynooth for six years for one reason or another, and I never saw it happen either. You clearly have some sort of magnet inside you.

Last time it happened at the AIB, went in and told the branch manager and he replied something along the lines of "Oh she's out there again". The second time happened at the Ulster bank I think? The one across the road from Mantra.

Afraid there's no "easy" way, you have to learn the rules (which I still struggle with, and this is my third years of maths at this level). There's a sheet in the MSC that has them all, so get that, and learn it by heart for the exam.

Tis indeed! Himself (Frank) died late-ish last year.

Nah, I saw her knocking about the main street on Monday or Tuesday evening on the way home! That teenager that used to hang around with them sometimes is appearing more often now. He just doesn't bring the same buzz of excitement to bus journeys....:(

€18 to last me until tomorrow. The cheapest wine Aldi has to offer it is for me tonight then.

It costs like €4 but it is absolutely disgusting!

So, what you're saying is that I could buy 4.5 bottles of it? SOLD!

He died last year, I think it was liver failure.
She is still living somewhere around Maynooth.

I think it's a pretty bad generalization to say that you are always getting "harassed by junkies" in Maynooth.

I really hate being a local and a student at times, it's irritating having your home and friends/neighbours being insulted on a regular basis.

It is around that price but there is one for €4 in Tesco and I think that it is my favorite wine!

Oh well, that deli was awful,
A never changing menu which for some reason needed to be displayed on 5 computer monitors, never any seating and that terrible wooden cutlery. (you know the ones that you can barely use).

Also the service was hit and miss, 4 times I was with a group of friends, we'd order our food and they'd forget my order and after waiting 20 minutes looking at them longingly would have to ask where the heck is my food?

Let it be known that after my first visit I was never a willing visitor.
Everyone else liked the crepes.

I've lived here 5 and I've had a few experiences like this.
Being bothered at the ATM, having someone walk up to me in the middle of the day and ask me for money as well as finding somebody out cold in our drive.

Maynooth isn't all sun shine and roses. All towns in Ireland have some antisocial behaviour. Maynooth isn't the worst.

Have to say coming from Blanch that Maynooth is lovely. In a comparison with most of the areas I live near it beats them by a mile.
People complaining have a lot of sightseeing to do if they think Maynooth is bad :p

No one ever said Maynooth is perfect. You will have the same experiences with people begging in pretty much every single town.

I spent most of today trying to figure out how to do my assignment (I was in a painkiller induced haze from Wednesday to Saturday) . Someone in my class spent almost an hour explaining it, step by step. Panic is easing a lot now!
PLUS! I had a yummy dinner followed by rhubarb and custard! YUM!

So heading into my 9th month of work experience, I am counting down the time until I'm back at Maynooth. I don't like growing up and having responsibilty. Can I just stay in college for the rest of my life please?

I've lived in Naas for a long time, let it be said that Maynooth doesn't have gangs of 12 year old kids hanging outside shops asking people going in to buy them cigarettes.

    Maynooth ++
