Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We go to Dundalk to win. No negativity, no parking the bus. We tear into them from the first minute to the last. We must aim to win.

No doubt Delaney will be there to sample the atmosphere and excitement of the deciding match, even though the league is a stone in his expensive Italian shoes.

Anyone here ever over night in Dundalk after a match? Trying to find the best place to book accommodation!

You can't go wrong with the crowne plaza. Huge new hotel. Probably 6 euro in taxi from town centre.

Dundalk are putting tickets on sale tomorrow morning at Oriel Park. A lot of City fans will probably head up and try to get them.
Not ideal to be in with the home fans though so I'll stick to watching it in Soho myself!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Talk of people queuing in the morning for tickets. They don't go on sale until 5.30!!!

The home section would be a lot better than nothing. If all you could get was a home ticket, I wouldn't be passing up on it, to be honest. I'd say there are another 100-200 after buying online for the home end, so either they'll move them all into/next to the away terrace or else if there's no room for that, they'll have those fans on the terrace on the other side of the main stand.

The tickets that go on sale tomorrow at 5.30 are for season ticket holders only. If there are any left after that (which I doubt there will be) then they will go on sale on Tuesday at 11.30.
Any City fan who is not a season ticket holder would have a better chance of buying them in Dundalk (but you will be in with the home fans). I'd rather not go than be in there.

were in the unique position that 4 of our players have already beaten dundalk on that ****ehawk of a pitch to win a national trophy..

John Kavanagh, Garry Buckley,Danny Morriessy and Rob Lehane won the Enda McGill up there in 2012 .. Rob and Garry both getting on the score sheet.

Tickets now on sale to ST members out in Bishopstown due to the length of the queue, fellas out there since 10 this morning. They will sell out within the next half an hour I'd imagine. This obviously will not get near a general sale.

I know of two separate cars that went upto Dundalk this morning and managed to scalp a good few tickets for the home end. The plan would be that there will be so many City fans in the home end they will either have to set up a section next to the away end, or just let them in. There will be upwards of a thousand City fans in the ground Friday night.

Never underestimate a Corkman who wants a ticket.

The very best of luck to ye guys on Friday night!
Probably not the place to be ranting about Waterford United but when you consider that both Cork City & Dundalk
were Div' 1 teams a few seasons ago there is hope for everyone, even us providing it's done properly.

    Well done anyway!

And as soon as you "scream your song" after the match when the normal clientele roll in, out you'll be turfed.

Best of luck on Friday though. Bray fan but living in Cork so would be great if it was won.

Bar stool in local booked. Nervous as fúck. Really feel a 1-1 is on the cards. I will enjoy the match up to the point when - hopefully - the commentator says not long for City to go till they will be crowned champions!!!

The main reason I'm looking forward to the close season is so we won't have to endure any ridiculously nervy endings at Turner's Cross every second week!

How many 1 goal margin wins did we, somehow, just managed to eek over the line!

It tomorrow's game follows in the same suit I could be dead from heart failure around the 85th minute. I can't take much more of it!! :pac:

They are really in a panic over the crowd. We've had bigger crowds than that at a few stages this season in Turners Cross and there was no problems. It just flowed. I feel that they're building up to make a balls of it.

Really classy outta the Dawk fans last night! Golf balls fired into the away end, a flare thrown over the wall into the city fans from Dawk fans and then at the final whistle they trying barge the stewards too get in and fight city fans! Terrible carry on!!

First league win in 19 years and all you can do is come over and throw shapes at Cork City fans.

Yup. Real classy. They win their first league in years yet they come in numbers to give us the finger. No wonder people get angry. A true shower of pricks.

Best team won the league. CCFC didn't show last night. Absolutely gutted but we will dominate soon.

All it did was make the City fans sing louder. Absolutely proud to support this fantastic club. Dundalk were the best team and deserved to win the league. But we'll have our day again. City til I die.

Gutted. While the better team won the lge when you get this close it feels worse not to get over the line. Onwards and upwards.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 8,576 Mod ✭✭✭✭Wilberto

I thought the most appropriate moment of the night was when, after the Dundalk supporters showed their 'class', City fans just started chanting "Where were you when you were shít"!

Also, Oriel Park is some kip of a ground!

Still though, about the game, Dundalk were the best team on the night, and indeed for about 90% of the season and deserve their league title. However, it is so disappointing from a Cork City perspective to lose it almost with a whimper. Whatever about the first half, the second half we were just non-existent.

We're so much better than what we showed last night and that is, by far, the most disappointing aspect of it.

Still though, hopefully we can go one better next season in the league, and also emulate Shamrock Rover's previous Europa League exploits. Can you imagine if we got into the group stages? That would be absolutely epic!

The Europa League will be very tough next season. Before, the best sides in the first round wouldn't have been too different to ourselves. If we weren't seeded, then we'd still probably have gotten a handy draw against a Welsh or Luxembourg side. For next season, though, they're putting 16 teams straight into the group stages (compared to 6 this season and none a few seasons ago). That closes off spots in the 4th round, so higher quality teams get pushed back a round or two. It means that potential first round opponents include Rosenborg and other Norwegian sides, Serbian, Croatian etc. These teams normally wouldn't enter until the second or third round. If we get past one tie, that'd be a huge achievement, never mind getting within sight of the group stages.
