Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not going to repeat a lot of what was said here. I have not experience a better dining experience in Dublin. It is much better than Shanahans and Guilbads.

I was there recently, it's worth going to. But let's be realistic here, it's not even in the same league as those two.

im not sure why they are doing the vouchers to be honest, i went twice with my wife before all this voucher crack and paid full price and couldnt figure out how they made money given the experience we had both nights, at half price i have no idea how it can be worth their while

They're getting quite a lot less than the voucher price at that.

Yeah the comments here about the pricing is bizarre tbh, I spent a lot of time there wondering how they're keeping the doors open.

Maybe its a numbers thing, have it full every night and make money on drink, I rang up a month ago and the earliest they could fit us in was the end of November.

I'd say it's the only restaurant in Ireland that actually does not make money on drink :)

Well I wouldn't go as far as that, my wife and I bought 2 bottles of wine the night we went. Over 30euro a pop, but lovely vino all the same. caipirinha there are around 11/13 euro a pop!

We paid for 1 bottle of wine, but we had an awful, awful lot more to drink than that . Yes free stuff on top of all the stuff that came with the voucher as well. Gave Tom a €40 tip :)

2.5 * retail is not unreasonable at all and pretty much the norm as a markup on wine in Irish restaurants

Sorry forgot to mention, wife ordered two caipirinha's at end of our night, as I said I think they were 13 euro each so got a bit of a shock. I did mention it to Tom and he said as I didn't have many after drinks , he refunded us the 26euro, which I thought was nice.

It was a great dining experience, but lads your missing one thing here. There is only one menu so there is going to be little or no waste so this is why they can still do it.

I tried 4 days in a row about 10 times each evening to no avail, emailed them and asked them to ring me and they did a day or two later

That's really unacceptable and bordering on fraud, they need to improve that (hope they read this)!!!
Sell as many vouchers as you can but don't give them a chance to make a booking. Some of them may even forget and give up!

The restaurant doesn't get paid for the vouchers until they're cashed in.

You need to ring in the afternoon; not evening. All their staff are busy serving food in the evening. Or you can leave a message if they don't answer and they'll call you back. I think it says somewhere on their website that they're unlikely to answer the phone during operating hours.

I couldn't leave a voice mail as they had an old voice mail saying they were closed for a family wedding (a few weeks earlier),I thought they had gone bust! But the email worked.

We went using one of the vouchers a while back. We bought a bottle of white wine for around €30 but were also given 4 generous glasses of red wine, 4 mini glasses of port and gin cocktails at the end. We were only charged for the white wine!

There's a good chance you'll be sitting right next to each other given the size the place, best get acquainted!

    Enjoy :)

Was a great evening. Food was delicious, service was first class. Will be back again.

Particular highlights for us were the Prawns and the Cheeseboard. Got the voucher before Christmas in their 10% off sale on GrabOne, so got it for €90. Probably the best BA I've had the fortune to use.

Have a voucher for this that I won't be able to use unfortunately.

If anyone's interested in taking it off my hands (for a knock down price) PM me.

Must be used by December 17.

Just went to book this and the missus spots it's only for midweek!

Never seen anything like that when I was buying it.

Does anyone know if they are sticklers on this. Was hoping to use it for a Saturday.

Otherwise I'd want my money back.... So what's the chances of that?

Even if they do let you go on a Saturday they are usually booked out for months.

It's for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. I was there last night and I booked in October. Although it was closed from 21dec-21 Jan . Well worth the wait, food and service was amazing and that's including one vegetarian. She normally gets stung but the 7 courses she got were varied and delicious.

just got a booking for end of June.......

the missus still doesn't believe me about how popular this restaurant is, and she was the one who made the booking!

as it happens our wedding anniversary so works out well

    can't wait now

Went last year and really loved it, have another voucher ready to go

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

    we actually went recently
it was the new venue so can't comment on the old place, but my missus loved it
think they have 11 tables, more staff now also according to the infamous Tom
looks like they only do one sitting per night
food was great, but even better was the way it was brought out with a story behind each dish
we figured it is not worth €100, but at about €70 per head it would be a fair price, but for €100 for the 2 of us, it was a great deal, and the new voucher rate of €120 is still a good deal.

Most people there seemed to be on the voucher deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,289 ✭✭✭Howard the Duck

Went there with the 120 voucher. After hearing so much about it i was a bit disappointed. They forgot our Sushi course and we had to remind them and they over cooked our steaks and the couple's beside us. The food over all was good but not fantastic. only the prawn dish really stood out for me. I might go back again with a deal but no way would i pay 100 euro a head for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,863 ✭✭✭RobAMerc

got this as a present. we paid an extra 25 I think it was to go on a Sat night and had to book in May also to get a booking.

service was slow but very informative ( Michelin star style explanations is a nice touch but you are paying for it )

a lot of the courses are pre-prepared with only the main course being cooked per order AFAIR. the rest were out of the fridge more or less.

cheese selection and desert were superb, prawn dish was good and different.

nice food, nice venue, but pricey ( cheapest bottle of wine is 45 yoyo by the way )

worth it once, but there are too many good restaurants in Dublin to be bothered going back here, sorry.

I think I'll bite and get one of these deals. Milestone birthday in the house next year, will book this well in advance.

looking at making reservation online. All the dates up to end-October are gone it would seem, but even after that I can't seem to book any date, even though they're a different colour and "clickable", I get a message saying date unavailable.
