Anyone looking forward to this? I have gotten this NBA 2K for the last few years now and as brilliant as it always is, My Career (all I play) is madly frustrating at times. Got 2k13 again recently when it was briefly free on PS+ and came across the same frustrations, except now I couldn't use the My Life apps on facebook or Android for extra VC so made it even harder to get my skills up.

Anyway, Gave it one more go as Atheltic PG and after around 20 boring and awful games as starting SG for the Raptors (averaging 5 ppg and 8 assists) I demanded a trade. None of my chosen teams picked me but Pistons picked me up. Instant starting PG with more minutes than the rest of the team and averaging 25 pg, 8 assists and a few steals & rebounds. Now every game is I play is actually fun and brilliant. My guy still sucks with a 68 rating and Pistons can't defend for their life but it goes to show how being on the right team makes all the difference.

I wasn't gonna get 2K14 but this new lease of life is definitely making me interested. The new Path to Greatness could be a nice new twist to My Career and the 10,000 VC coins with preorder bonus is very tempting.

i dunno whether to get this or fifa. what would you recommend. usually get fifa every year. Kinda the same stuff over and over. I've never gotten a nba game on this generation consoles. I heard the 2k series is brilliant. With Gta5 coming out the week before fifa 14 I won't have the money to get both. Would you recommend buying 2k14 first or buy 2k11 to test it out to see if i like it?

NBA 2k11 is where the 2k series peaked for me. That game was basically as far as they could push the boundaries on the current gen console. What happenned was majestic, and its a game I still return to, to do the Jordan challenges again and again. 2k sports have captured the essence of basketball brilliantly imo in their games. I've bought 2k12 and 13, and I have enjoyed both, the minor improvements that have come each year still lead to me pouring hours into the game. However with the new consoles dropping this Christmas I plan to buy only one xbox 360 game this year, that being GTA V. I won't have the finances to buy a next gen console this Xmas, and I know that 2k14 on the Xbox One/PS4 will be unbelievable, and that 2k14 on 360 would just leave me cold. So I will eventually get 2k14, but probably this time next year. I would wholly recommend sourcing 2k11 as your first experience of a 2k game. I would say also, that the learning curve with 2k is steep, but stick with it, because when you get it, that satisfaction is huge.

I've pre-ordered this along with my PS4 and hope to get it day one. I absolutely loved 13. Can't wait to see what 14 will be like on next gen.

Got it in the end. Yet to see any major differences from 13. Lot of it is the same. Blocks and stuff by AI are done better now ive noticed

Got this today, dont really see any difference at all from last year beside the blocking which has got alot better.
Only got it as Ill be waiting till the second tide for PS4 and it was upgradeable.
Hoping for something more from PS4 version tbh.
Hopefully they will make the models in my player better one place EA has a huge advantage in making My Player alot more realistic

Been watching Chris Smoove playing My Career on next gen, mad to play this now. I like the little stories going on in the cutscenes. Watching the vid, it looks you and ai teammates still miss easy shots but maybe that's until you get teammate chemistry up or better skills. Looking very impressive.

The rival (Jackson Ellis) is suck a dick, but I love having that in there. I got drafted to the Suns and he went to the Pelicans. We met in the 4th game and I shut him down - 0 points, 0 assists. He had to admit on social media that I was better because of a bet we placed before the game

If felt good, especially after I got annihilated by him at the rookie showcase.

10/10 on next gen for this. Even if you don't like basketball that much you will probably enjoy it.

The head of nba live 14 has written an open letter apologizing for the poor quality of their game. They are going to work non stop on improving gameplay, tutorials, graphics and animation. Not looking great for ea's precious ignite system.

Can't wait to get stuck into 2k14 on ps4.

Holy crap, saw alot of clips for NBA2K14 for the PS4. Seriously making me consider buying the PS4 earlier than expected.

NBA2K13 was , by far, the most enjoyable sports game I have played in years. Before that, the last basketball game I played was NBA Jam for the PS1

I have heard so many fans of FIFA and PES talking about the features in NBA2K when discussing improvements to My Career/Be a Pro/ Becoming a Legend.

Seriously the PS4 stuffs looks mega

While it is now surprise that the PS3 version is the same as last years, its a pitty. Could have tied me over for a few months.

How in depth is the career mode? I'm assuming you can create a player and get him up through the ranks?

NBA 2K always had a great career mode. I think the main downfall for me is the 80+ games in a season, can take a while to get through. You make a player and then for the 1st time in the series, exclusive to next gen, there are cutsceneswhic show your agent getting you invited to the NBA draft, a game that scouts watch and then NBA teams taking turns picking new players in the anual draft. During the 1st game, you come across another player and as far as I'm aware, you can make friends with him or become rivals. I have seen some rival videos and they seem like a laugh to have a bit of a story in the background.

I'm really stuck on whether to get NBA 2K14 or Assassins Creed Black Flag this week. I'm leaning towards NBA but still not sure.

I'm loving it on Xbox One mate.

Mainly playing my career. Got drafted by the 76ers as PG. Finding it tough but in a good way. You know you dont want to sink every basket in your 1st game and have 20+ assists. Feels like you are really starting from the bottom and you have to improve which I like.

The cut scenes and all really add a lot to it.

Highly recommended.

Excellent man! How are you finding the rebounds this year? Last year, my teams ai could not catch a degensive rebound.

Also, is the passing improved? Always had to use player select and pass but would prefer pointing the stick towards my chosen teammate and press x.

Lastly, you befriend or become rivals with that guy from the draft?

Sorry mate only saw your post now.

Defensive rebounds seem to be fine.

I cant really comment on the passing because I like to use player select. If I'm going make a run at the basket though I just turn it off.

I didn't know you could befriend him. He said something to me in the hallway after the rookie match at the start, I gave him a respectful answer back but he was still talking thrash to me and my agent

When you have a free, how are you meant to score? I have tried pressing the Square button on the PS4 , but i always seem to miss. First time playing NBA 2K14 But no matter what i do, i cant score a free. Any help please?

Not much good to ps3 playa but I hear the ps4 version is savage . I would imagine though, that if you are a newcomer the player will think it's great. I got 13 last year, first time player of 2k, absolutely loved it.the footie games didnt get a look in.still play it, trying to beat bi'll Russels ring collection lol.

Santi will probably get 14 for.me, wouldn't be too keen on buying it myself.but that should not put newcomers off! It is a brilliant game.

The game ,my career bar some glitches last year (eg all star weekend,calender issues) was so good, many people playing FIFA ,pes etc use to talk about implementing some of the cool stuff from 2k into their respective my career games. Funny thing was, those ideas were oh so simple! Pes kind of did some similar things in 2012 (agent, huge press conference when signing to a team, winning footballer of the year)

Go to practice sessions ,time the realise, if the game is like 2013 look at the symbol underneath the player.yellow bars come up, I think that tells you the players sweet spot

I hear that this year, you won't be able to max out your stats, eg centre scoring loads of 3 pointers.this is good. Few guys ever become superstars just after 3 seasons.well rose did win MVP in 2 years...

Ya have to put the practice in.I hear this yea is a bitch as they changed the controls again.

Why did they even bother? Letter of resignation should be given.not like ea have being banging ,last bb game before that was muck.they should stop publishing the game and save cost and work on it, even if it means skipping a year.they have the resources .

Ahhh cheers . First time playing it and haven't done any practice sessions yet just a couple of games against the computer .

I would have never gotten that you have to move the right stick up and down so cheers.

Google or youtube 'nba 2k14 best shooting form'. There are a load of shots and releases you can choose from and the internet folks are good at what works best. I'm getting my copy tomorrow so don't know for sure but there is usually a 'shoot around' in my career to practices your players moves and shots. Would be stupid if they got rid of that.

They did get rid of it.

I went two days thinking they removed practice completely and the training camp before I found them in the features.

But that still doesn't change that you can't practice with your own guy, though maybe you can select him in there I wasn't bothered checking.

I find myself taking stupid shots that are blocked a lot since what I was looking for wasn't what I got.
I used to use a lot of the combo B + shot pull up from a dribble with the step back etc but they all seem to be gone bar holding the stick away from the basket which is very confusing to try to initiate.

I just preferred using the right stick for dribbling and the back buttons and square for shooting, I find myself still using square to pump fake as it's flimsy on the stick.

Im a few games into my season, was drafted 9th I think to Sacramento.
Getting sick of playing with them, we're about 5-12 and have been losing by 20points+ most games.
I'm playing fairly bad(though real life NBA stats wise ok about 12-6-3 off the bench) but I still think the team is just pants either way and would love to trade away but don't see any option.
I'm complaining to the GM at the next sit down anyway to see what happens.

After around 25 games there will be an option when you meet the GM to trade.

The one thing I learned from NBA is I have no loyalty what so ever, Ive played 4 seasons and have played for 6 teams and now am in my second spell for Lakers, formed a big three with Lebron and Irving and were still crap

Ya in some ways I was kind of hoping to become a starter first to get to give me more trade options.

But just decided to check after the last game when we blew a 12 point lead late in the 4th and lost yet another game.
Apart from getting Cousins in the post or the odd 3 ball the team are pretty bad, not even great at shooting the said 3 ball.

I'm certainly not helping matters but often I'm checking back in to a big deficit, then you get the ''cut it to 5'' task which never finishes because they push it out to 20+.

I'll be jumping ship so around at that point.

If people are struggling in their first season in MyPlayer mode, the majority of it is scripted, you cannot actually win some games, you have more freedom in the second season.

I got drafted 11th to the Sixers and found it awful. I'm not sure if it's scripted for all teams but the team hated me. We lost almost every match and the coach was always throwing the blame my way after only giving me 8 minutes or less. Eventually asked the GM for a trade and went to the Timberwolves. Went from scoring 4 points a game to 20+. I also seem to get along great with the team and coach. I definitely recommend asking for a trade as soon as the option comes up.

All my team mates like me - You must not have worn the clown nose :P

I think our record at the moment is 24 - 12. Not amazing but pretty good.

I started as an Athletic PG & got a B+ in the rookie showcase game. I scored more points than my rival, but after the match I was surprised to see a cut-scene where he was celebrating how much better he played in the game. He only scored 2 points when I was on the court.

I got drafted by the Utah Jazz, just went through the first game there. Looking forward to getting stuck into it. The gameplay is great!

The menu's are a bit strange and a lot different from last year. It would be nice if you could select your accent or whatever or customise your appearance a bit more. I couldn't find an explanation of the signature skills but I'm sure it must be in there somewhere......found it online anyways. The control system is ridiculously in-depth, and I'm still getting confused with some bits and pieces. I hate shooting with the stick....have to use square.

Anybody interested in doing an online franchise with fantasy draft like we did in 2K13?

Yippie finally got my move, I had a meeting with the GM after my last game saying I was near starting with the Kings. Another cut scene started and he was telling me my destination.

I had voiced unhappiness with the GM the 3rd/4th time we met, so I was going to get the trade option anyway before seeing someone say here that's how to do it. Still takes 4/5 games to move from that point though.

Was sick of losing nearly every game with the Kings and getting feck all VC.

Most of the teams interested were lower end teams, but the Wolves were in there so I decided they'd do.

Rubio's position should be easy to take, and I have Love and Martin to hopefully help this time compared to just Cousins.

I stay on 28mins at the Wolves aswell. And in the first cutscene Rubio tells me I've nearly taken his position so it seems the general progress stays the same whether you move or not.

Well that sucks. I started the game tonight and the menu doesn't appear. The background of the menu does but the menu itself shows no options.

Tried to close the application and got this error code: CE-34878-0. Happened three times.

Had to disable the network to get it to start. Hopefully this isn't a persistent problem.
